it would imply that the spread of element throughout the universe was the evolution of this alien progressing to a T3 civilization, making use of every resource in the galaxy, it was deliberate. graveyards of Alien ships the size of the genesis littered the space all around the star system, they were the creations of species where all of its members succumbed to the effects of element exposure like Rockwell.

If you want to know the exact lore, there's the explorer notes that you can either find in-game or look up/in the pins. As for a crash course of it, though? Basically, after they port there through the big portal from Aberration, the tek tribe and gang base up in the city, Santiago becomes the defacto leader, hatches a plan to make meks to take out the corrupted, it all goes wrong, most die, and then Helena finds some little trinket and stuffs it in her implant and goes into a coma. Hilarity ensues. Then, Mei-Yin carries Helena's unconscious ass all the way into the forest titan cave, where there's a side passage that has a tek pod that brings her up to essentially godhood (it makes her a Homo-Deus, literally "god man" in Latin) and she disappears. Diana comes back to life, via Helena-Deus, and she reunites with Mei-Yin, then they go deus-knows-where and that's it. The end. xoxo, ya mama.

Rockwell only controls the small bits of element on Aberration during that time. I.E the Reapers and Nameless (note: they're not created by him. He just controls them)
He isn't able to get fully control of the hivemind till 'after' the King-Titan dies. Since the hivemind needs a pillar to sustain itself, and so after the King-Titan dies by our hands. Rockwell was the best candidate for this role.

King-Titan is the literal embodiment of Corruption itself.
So it wouldn't make sense for it to 'not' be the one in control. When it 'IS' basically Corruption.

Out of the biomes on Extinction, yeah. The wasteland has it's own lighting that is used nowhere else, some cool looking rock formations, occasional splotches of red plants and a bunch of cool looking tek ruins. The other options of that map are knock-off scorched, discount aberration, yet another snow biome (which doesn't even get to make use of the improved gen 1 snow biome assets considering it came out before genesis), an overly geometric city with the lowest quality grass textures I've ever seen, and of course a biome that exists entirely to house thousands of corrupted and has no other qualities.

Sanctuary's architecture was overly geometric and kind of ugly and it's plant textures were all but non-existent. In that initial Extinction trailer sanctuary had way more dense foliage and it actually looked like it was genuinely overgrown. I remember being so excited after seeing that trailer cause Sanctuary just looked breathtaking, but then when the DLC released it became clear that the amount of foliage had been seriously cut back and the grass had been replaced with a flat green sludge.

I think the texturing quality really depended on what it was. The game started off with everything having an overly detailed texture that was clearly intended to be realistic but aged poorly, then they started doing the creatures in a slightly more stylized way that has aged way better. Scorched and Aberration had the stylized creature designs but still used the overly detailed textures. Extinction continued that trend but some of its textures dropped a lot of the detail and then Gen 1 and 2 had the maps, items and creatures all be consistently stylized.

It's like by Genesis they realized that the textures that were aging better were the more stylized ones and swapped to using that style for everything.

One of the things that I'm worried about for ARK 2 is that since it is clearly trying to be far more realistic in terms of aesthetics than ARK 1, they might fall into the same trap again of having overly detailed textures that don't age well. Hopefully ARK 2 will look good.

Just on that character, you can play how you want to play, but its generally advised to keep one character

canonically you would use your ascended char

but if you want to start from scratch and experience the pain of carnivores everywhere then go with a new char

your ascended character will stay in the cache until you extract it though

either because they are kinda the main duo see aberration and genisis but also because in extinction abberation genisis ect they were the ones who had voice work done to begin with so maybe its because its easier to have them be voiced rather than characters we have not heard the voice for, or its the third option and that one is because it costs way to much money

I find it odd, and probably an error that the nameless at the last shot of the new Aberration intro are facing 'away' from the survivor, and towards the reapers and Rockwell. Not towards the survivor like the rest.
