Anyone have issues with freezing to death essentially instantly on Fjordur? I just started this map a little while ago and was trying to gather supplies. My character is level 20 but all of a sudden I started to freeze to death, my health draining almost instantly, then couldn't even make it back to my base when I respawned because I died almost instantaneously again... Is this normal for this map? To have random bouts of extreme cold? Or is something wrong with my game? 🤔

ingame - beating certain bosses (island overseer, Aberration rockwell, gen1 corrupted MC, gen2 rockwell prime) all give +15 levels on alpha. chibi gives +5 levels. all explorer notes gives +10 levels. all fjordur runes gives +10 levels max of 190

So this might be the wrong place to ask this but, I've had 8 cryopods this week start crashing my game in single player and hosted non-ded session with friends. We've had to throw away 8 dinosaurs and it's really starting to get on my nerves. Is there something directly that causes this that I'm doing? It seems random because we didn't grab one dino out for like 2 weeks and went to pull it today and it crashed the game for all of us and had to be thrown away.

Island map, it feels random. It's been three argents, a sarco, two otters, a rex, and a daedon. The rex and daedon were wild caught, the others were bred but only about 3-4 generations of breeding, and not very high level or high stats.

Outside of the Snow Biome you can get pelt from Castoroides, Equus, Dire Bear, Megaloceros, Otter, Ovis, Megatherium and Procoptodon.

Also wool and human hair can be used as substitute

Argys are better bang for your buck PVE-wise. And they're not that hard to tame as they are aggressive but slow.

So kiting them to get stuck or straight into a trap is fairly simple.

traps make the game stupid easy. for the price of 300 stone, 161 wood, and 111 thatch, aka a foundation, a hatchframe, 3 double doorframes, 2 railings, and a double door, all you have to do is walk up the argy, aggro it, walk through trap, and then close the door.

It says the preserving bin takes 36 minutes to “turn the meat into jerky” does that mean it’ll take each piece and turn it into jerky over 36 minutes one by one? Does it convert as much meat as you have up to a stack? Does it convert all the meat at once and consume all the materials at once? The wiki is confusingly ambiguous about this specific point

Hey, I need a couple tips as to how should I progress with my run.

-I play single player on "The Island" and have set up a pretty expansive wooden base south west around 80;30
-Smithy, Longneck rifle With Tranq Darts and Chitin armor is the level of tech I have access to.
-As for dinos I have 3 stegos, a triceratops and a a very angery duck with large claws that combined together, face roll anything I seen nearby/in the nearby swamps

The questions with above in mind:
-Where/How would I go to start getting Crystal and or Polymer/Organic Polymer to be able to slowly progress further?
-Where would I go to get a decent flyer so I can explore reliably? I had 2-4 random variations of Ptero and Pela but they always seem to meet unfortunate ends in rapid succession whenever I land to recharge their low stamina in a not so safe area (and setting my self up for another 1-3 hour episode of find and rescue your corpse without map markers)
-I was thinking of maybe upgrading my base to stone but getting enough wood to build the current took 2-3 days already so it's a scary thought. Is there a way to farm and move industrial amounts of woods/stone without 12+ hours of running back and forth?
-Lastly, my best source of metal seem to have been punching round looking rocks near water with a metal pick so every time I die I'm getting a heart attack of potentially not being able to recover my rifle/pistol, let alone look at how much I'd need for a metal base, will there be better ways to get metal? If yes, how far down the line from where I seem to be at in the game?

1. Crystal you can get from caves and certain mountains.
   You can get organic polymer from killing penguins on the icebergs and hitting it with a club. You can craft hard polymer with Obsidian and Cementing Paste but I don't recommend it.

2. An Argentavis is a great flyer. They have high stam, high weight, but slightly low speed, well worth it though.

3. An Argentavis can help you move a large amount of items or tames. If you want a large amount of wood, you can tame a Beaver, which have reduced wood carrying capacity.

4. I suggest you go to the Volcano area, as not only does it have the crystal you are looking for, but it has Argys, and metal.

Which is just when you get to 300 weight, put the rest of your points into HP.

Sometime I find "blueprints" is there any point to collecting blueprints when you already have the engram for the same thing unlocked? Like, is there any difference or blueprints are just a chance to craft stuff before you unlock them from engrams?

There are higher-tier blueprints for armor/weapons, which make you able to craft them with better durability/damage/armor etc

But the regular ones, like structures and items like Advanced Rifle Bullets are nigh-useless. Only one I use are the ammos, because it allows you to queue 1000 of the regular engram and 1000 of the blueprint (since you can only craft 1,000 at a time.)

None. Learn engrams as you need them. It may be annoying but you will be mindwiping so often in the late game to craft good saddles, weapons, tools, armor, and more, so no point in learning the engrams.

What do I do if an egg says "Too hot!" but if I move it half a meter closer to the beach it says "Too cold!"

You have to use air conditioners, otters, dimetrodons, torches/fires until it incubates

too hot is bad because youre forced to use live creatures or air conditioners, while with too cold you can just spam fires

Well, it has like 7 days to spoil so I guess I'll just put it back next to my camp fire when it's night and cold to finish hatching it in two pass.

Air conditioning is and electricity still seem out of reach for now.

Yeah, it has egg health and spoil timer.

While the egg itself spoils in a certain duration, the creature inside of it can still die. Think of it like... a chicken egg.

I was going to go on an analogy of the creature but I actually don't know how chicken eggs work.

if the egg is too cold or hot, it'll slowly die. if egg health reaches 0, your egg goes poof. you wont get penalized if it hatches and has a very low egg health though

I tried to hatch the first egg on my terrace, it spawned the baby INSIDE THE FOUNDATION, and by the time I noticed and got it out it died of starvation as I rushed to get it some berries.

Like I said, just learn them as you use them.

If you need to make an argy saddle, learn it. If you need to make stone foundations, learn it. Don't learn stuff in advance.

No point cuz you might end up never using it and wasting time and/or points.

I once got raided on Official and my friend used all of his engram points, we had a giga but it had no saddle and he didn't learn giga saddle. We almost lost the base but I transferred and was able to craft a giga saddle. I told him to mindwipe and stop wasting his fucking points.

We ended up killing their Shadowmane that had cryos on it (shadowmanes and stegos), winning the defense, transferring to their server, and wiping their base.
(Their base was actually in the same spot our base was in)

All in all, don't waste your points and only learn 'em as you need 'em!

Not a vault with loot in it, mind you, like, we dropped vaults in front of the entrance to prevent them from getting up and they blew up the empty vault, then he quit and we had to defend the rest of the raid by ourselves, with me and a European who was staying up at 5am for this.

No, you only need 300. I usually run 200HP and 160MS.

But 300 is good for new players

150 is good enough for PvE

I would, but yesterday I spent the better half of 2-4 hours of rescuing my corpse in the swamp, 75% of which was me playing "at which tree my missing stego(s) got stuck at" coupled with "oh right, the dumb duck immobilised it self again by swinging into a tree mid fight and looting 19000 wood". So I'm at the point where I rather fly to the mountains on trained Ptero with my dumb duck as combat escort and set up a FOB there, for project: train an Argy first try and totally not get immediately killed in the process.

Corpse gathering so you don't get 10 of every type of berry when you kill a sabertooth and all those fucking recipes.
Resource gathering so you don't get tons of meat and hide and over encumber yourself

So I got tackled by a thyla off my ptera in redwoods... I was also escorting my tapejara back to base. I saw on a forum where someone suggested using another ptera tame to add pteras to a group, which would allow me to track all pteras, but the group only shows 1 ptera. I checked the tribe logs and don't see an entry for either of my flyers' deaths. Any ideas why the other ptera isn't being tracked?

You cannot track tame groups, you can only track recently tamed dinos.

Tame groups are independent whistling.

Its a thing where if you lose a dino, you get another dino of the same dino and put its class into a group. Use that group to spam whistles and hold up the extended hud to find said dino

but really the easiest way is to just backtrack or scour the entire biome

ghillie provides more hyperthermal insulation than desert cloth.

yeah ghillie looks a bit weird comparatively, but it has its downsides and upsides
namely, prevents water evaporation, -50% detection range and more hyperthermal insulation

i think you'll be safe if you stay above or around the same elevation as the leaves, keep an eye out for them anyway though

I also saw a video about a person who was sitting on the ground, out of the redwoods, a teammate flew by a thyla, and the thyla did a 90 degree turn and locked onto the teammate who wasn't in the redwoods.
