that is just the level save. you need the whole folder. then you just switch the files based on which save you want to use. sounds like you are not familiar with computers and should probably not be trying to do this, though, you are just going to end up losing your save

They are found down in the rad zone. I would look up some youtube videos for exact locations. There are places in the upper part of the zone, You will need haz suit of course, then try to find it in single player and then go for it on official. Alternatively there are Red Sap Gacha's running around on Extinction and Discord that you could farm.

I tamed a veilwyn on lost colony. Put it in companion mode. Made my way to terminal. It was uploaded in companion mode. Transferred to astraeos. Pulled from upload at blue ob. It says it’s still in companion mode above its name, but I have no whistle in inventory, and when I try to turn companion mode off through the veilwyn inventory nothing happens. Anybody know how to fix it?

So far I’ve tried dying and respawning and it still doesn’t work and I still don’t see whistle.

I’m guessing it was a mistake to upload it while in companion mode. But wondering if there’s a way to fix/unbug it

Im not sure but you somehow got into that glitched state so you need to basically reset this somehow.
Also trying to link with another one might be an option just check if it works.
And I’d try any solution or attempt first that doesnt involve character transfer like cryo, up/download of it etc

But based upon the fact that ecen a decay timer will not affect it, and a bugged or glitched state can be saved for when the server comes up again, I think it won’t help it
You somehow have to break that companion mode up, like cryopod, up/download etc.
transferring your character could bring some more issues, there were char losses in the past that got fixed apparently but still try anything else first

It could die or or could come back normal or it could come back glitched.
I would probably try : cryopod, up/download, kill it, transfer servers with your char. In that order

there is a bug where if the first loaded mod in evolved has deleted the gamemode override entry, the game crashes. but that is just because the modder did something dumb

I'm running about 25 mods amd it started crashing on the load in, so I found out AA is a higher priority than most, so I moved it up. It worked for a while but it's crashing again. I had to deactivate a few mods to get it to load in. I can reactivate the mods and it will load back in but it starts crashing again and I end up in a crash loop

what is "AA"? and you are just running out of memory, that is way too many mods unless most of them are trivially tiny. the load order is probably just fudging memory GC timing and narrowly avoiding running out sooner

they are actually supported by the game, like a dlc, not just stuff hacked into existing files. mods basically cant conflict unless they are doing some really specific or weird stuff, and if they do, usually one just stops working

filesize is also mostly irrelevant. memory use to load it is what matters. building big bases or tons of dinos out can easily brick the save on low-end hardware

In other games I play that have Discord integrated directly into the game they have a UI where you can switch between local and guild voice chat or party voice chat.

I have a theoretical question, let's just imagine I am able to manually select how many points I want to have in each of a Rock Drake's stats, while it still could exist on an official server without being deleted, how would I best distribute them to be as optimal as humanly possible? To my knowledge the optimal Rock Drake would hatch at level 362, so the 88 levels gained through experience don't cause it to pass 450, correct? I know that 254 is the most a stat can start with, otherwise you can't level it. With that out of the way, I want to share the purpose of said Rock Drake. It is suppose to be used as a combat mount, so the only stats I need are probably health, stamina and melee. My main issue is that I don't know how much stamina I should invest, so it doesn't pass out from attacking during bosses, and how to most efficiently use my level ups to take advantage of the high base stats. I would really appreciate if people with experience fighting alpha bosses could perhaps give me some builds, telling me exactly how many points of what go where.

I’ve tried getting into two Alpha LC boss fights but as soon as the tributes are put in and the to starts, my pc crashes. All my settings are low, no mods installed, and Ive disabled mod downloading. Ive also used console commands to turn off shadows, fog, and clouds. I don’t know what else could be the reason for ARK crashing my entire PC, and it isn’t the first time this has happened.

Edit: ARK went from crashing as soon as I load into my server to now crashing my entire PC as soon as I launch the game.

if you want to run a functional public server, you need to get someone computer literate on board to wrangle it. cant just follow guides for a lot of stuff, and you cant follow a guide anyway if you dont understand what is going on

what you should probably do is rent a single baremetal machine or high-capacity virtual machine, then just install all the servers yourself on that, it wont be any different from doing it locally

Trying to spawn in some skulls in singleplayer, cheats enabled, but for some reason the gfi codes stopped working a while ago for me. Simply says "Not Allowed to Spawn in This Map" no matter what map I'm on. Tried both the gfi code and the full path using giveitem, nothing works.

I was able to get em to spawn in before using the codes provided on beacon, but now those codes simply don't work anymore. Think it's been doing this since before lost colony dropped.

Its kind of convoluted but if i use like the keyboard shortcut (T) to tranfer i crash within like 3 to 4 items, same with dragging and dropping, for the most part bulk transferring with the transfer button in the inventory is okay, i use the omni tool from cybers structures to circumvent this too

10 2021 LTS IOT or 11 LTS with debloat scripts on the image before install are pretty tolerable. otherwise maybe try a gaming-focused linux distro or something like mainline debian

I think I just found an issue, I had ASA installed on my C drive, but I have a secondary external ssd that I have some steam games on, I think it was installing everything newly downloaded to the external drive to the steam download folder there and getting severely limited by the cable to the external ssd

ark does not control the way it updates. steam does. all steam games use the same method.
ark is just 1 single large file (not counting the DLC) which causes the patch speed to be long.

ark is just huge compared to other games so its not noticed with them.
palworld, first descendant. think oldrim also did. those are just much smaller games.

Well ark is just terribly packed compared to others for slow hardware from what I gathered, you got a few large containers that need full patching if only a small file is changed within it, simplified.
Other games handle this differently.
But you probably only notice it on ark due to the sheer giant size of the files that get patched.
And that is only sped up by a decent ssd, preferably NVME and cache.
Then even ark patches are somewhat fast as it writes with 250-900 MB/s (in case of the Samsung 990 Evo pro im using for example) for about 10-15 minutes.

And that is a lot of data so slower drives will totally break down.

If you already got a good NVME ssd it might as well patch elsewhere Steam can do that, even if only linked loosely to that drive. I had patches downloaded on a 4TB HDD instead of an ssd before where the game was actually installed with sufficient space

Yea I had the same issues with it patching elsewhere, capping my NVME at like 20 mbyte / s or so, making it patch for hours 😬
I think good 2.5“ are there too, but good NVME is just better overall.
I had a shitty basically free NVME from Kingston though, SNV1000 or so, and that was even slower than the generic 2.5 I used previously so make sure to get a gamer/gaming one with some good reviews and tests, it’ll literally push patching to close to 1 GB/s it’s insane how big of a difference it can be
Having some lower speeds too ofc, while patching but the one i use id mostly at around 700 mbyte/s eg, sometimes closer to 800/900 and very rarely falling below 500

Oh one last thing if you opt for an m.2 NVME ssd, make sure to set it up correctly, most modern motherboards should support the PCIe 4x for NVME ssds but I heard stories of wild default misconfigurations so make sure to look for these potential issues or you get capped speeds nevertheless.

game settings have nothing to do with it, normally. just sounds like someone has really bad internet (or really slow storage and the game is freezing and being kicked during login) so it only works randomly.
how long does it typically load before you get the disconnect message? seconds, minutes? and is this on PS4 or PS5?

After 5 minutes of play in SP, the game just closes. No warning, no crash log, no prompt to send a crash report to the devs from Steam, just closes and sets my save back to where I started it. Playing on Astraeos, but haven't played any ARK until the update, so I'm not sure if it would've done this before or not.

Astraeos is booting up and you can join once again, but bases still gone (even after rollback) and still crashing after moving max 100 meters

It’s only one person’s experience, so take this with a grain of salt, but I’m in the island, and that server’s down, and on Ragnarok, which sees to be running fine, both are official servers.
But the Island server does have the issue of trees suddenly having re-grown through the foundations and walls.

I just checked with a friend who’s on an Unofficial server on Island. His base is still there, but he’s got trees growing through it (which is the same thing I was seeing on the official server running island, before it went down). So (from my limited perspective) it sounds like all the maps some issues, but Astreos is the one where bases are suddenly missing.

no there isnt, just remember that when she does her throw ability you want to deflect the projectile with the spear ability. this doesnt hurt on gamma but does 800 dmg to you past your armor on alpha

@elder cipher don’t do it! EVERYTHING you take to Astraeos you will lose! Doesn’t matter the server number or ping. I’ve lost 4 full max kits and 4 fully imprinted top stat Dino’s and 4 greater mobile traits. Not worth it at all.

Has any one considered that like with lost colony there is a memory leak in the coding for the ast updates. Lost colony before the memory leak fix ran at 15 gigs of storage on our server manager. After the fix it ran at 10
Our ast map with mods normally runs at around 10 gigs. After this update it runs around 16 gigs. Same patterns of issues with lost colony.
