Hi everyone! I'm contacting you about a small problem with Ark. I play on all the maps released to date at around 40-50 fps constantly, but when I go to Ragnarok, I drop to 10-5 fps when I fly... I've already tried: updating my graphics drivers lowering my graphics to the minimum verifying the game files how can I fix this problem? Because it's very annoying...

some stuff does. some does not. anything "outside render" goes into stasis, basically it stops processing entirely. some select stuff still runs. dinos dont, they try to "catch up" on food, health, ect when they leave stasis

why does steam not save my downloading progress, at first it deleted my game now it just resets back to 30gb out of 170 gb, no matter what my progress is, it will reset to 30gb if steam shuts down or paused (i have load shedding issue)

Single player world on extinction. uploaded myself and a dinosaur with no inventories and left certain things in a chest. Went to genesis to unlock an engram, redownloaded on genesis and went to extinction to upload again. Came home with all my specific items no where to be found and missing a carnotarus i had tamed and did not download. Just did the alpha manticore boss fight on official ASE. Half of my dinos did not transfer into the fight and are now just gone. I killed the manticore boss. Picked up all of the loot out of the crate and element. When I get back after my game crashed black screen, no element. Only have the manticore trophy and chibis… that’s crazy?

Does ragnarok not work with steam family sharing? I own 3 copies of ASA in my family group (i gifted two to two of my kids, and everyone can play the base game, but if any account that does not specifically own ark in my family grroup cannot play on my ragnarok server, because steam wont let them download Ragnarok if they themselves don't own the game. This seems like a major grift if true

I've tried Scorched, Ragnarok, and the Island now all with the same crash. Sometimes I manage to load into the map first, sometimes it happens while the map is still loading. There is no screen flickering of any kind when it occurs.

Steps I have taken to resolve the issue, to no avail, so far:

1. Verify integrity of game files
2. Try launch options such as -dx12, -dx11, and so forth. Some wouldn't even let the game launch, but those that did, didn't work.
3. Tried lowering graphics settings to the minimum before loading into maps.
4. Tried lowering graphics settings to minimums, and then also applying some commands (disabling fog, volumetric fog, clouds, turning off lumen and shadows) before loading map.
5. Deleting all saved data (after backing it up elsewhere of course...)

CPU is AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics, 3201 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s); GPU is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. Currently on the latest Nvidia GPU driver after trying a few different clean installs earlier.

you may be having some windows settings or nvidia optimus (if that is still a thing) trying to use the integrated graphics. although i would not expect that to outright crash

I ran a few (albeit short) tests with OCCT as I saw that recommended around online. Nothing seems off there... But I will keep it up on monitoring only for a while longer and see what it says. In the meantime, ASA has continued to crash. 🫠 I am going to bite the bullet and just reinstall it overnight, and if that fails to fix it, I may consider the nuclear option of resetting Windows. Thankfully 99% of my files are on external drives anyway, but I still hope it doesn't come to that. It's such a massive pain to reset all settings etc...
Im just so baffled. Nothing changed between when I last played and when I tried to play again. I can only assume that something went catastrophically wrong when I was trying to transfer.. So I really hope that reinstalling fixes it if nothing else will.

I need some help please, I joined an Ark Omega Ascended Official server RAG, to join the server it makes us download the particular mods the server uses, that's fine, got plenty of space, BUT it seems some of those mods are premium mods I haven't paid for, which is fine I cant use them as they're mostly cosmetic mods, anyways I stopped playing on that server because the lag was horrendous due to poor server management by admin who've allowed folks to build massive bases(it happens) my issue is, now ive stopped playing that server ive gone to my installed mods to uninstall them, but the premium ones I cant uninstall them, clearly states when you go into the mod it self "Installed" tobthe right of that is a Purchase premium mod tab, which proves ive not paid for it, there is no uninstall tab, I have a feeling somethings gone wrong as now my ark Primal Chaos play through crashes every 10 to 20 minutes, I thought maybe it was the Primal Chaos mod itself but ive spoken to the mod dev and through discord as well as many other users of the mod and we ALL use the same or similar mods, so I know its not the mods im using, it has to be those premium installed mods I never purchased & can't seem to uninstall, is there a way to uninstall/delete them without having to uninstall Ark itself and lose hours or work and miss out on hours of possible revenue due to having to reinstall the whole damn game again??

He as well gets often stuck in some structures (depending on your building) for multiple hours or somtimes till you replace him.

Alright, for anyone dealing with GPU dump error / crash, I did all the things I mentioned in my little conversation here before trying to reinstall bc frankly I just didn't want to if I didn't have to lol. I did backup my Saves folder prior to doing so as I've been playing singleplayer, but the good news is that after I reinstalled, the crashing seemed to stop. I can only assume something went catastrophically wrong when I closed/opened the game one time or something and it needed a reinstall to fix. 🤷
Bad news is, it of course ate my character bc the first crash happened as soon as I downloaded my character onto a map. But that's easily fixed with commands.

aww damn i was gonna say there is a setting to turn off structure collision but with that being enabled on official i dont think there's a way around it, you can't have overlapping unfortunately 🙁 you COULD start a singple player save, go into creative mode autobuild the full thing, rebuild the overlapping parts so that it conforms with official and save that as your own

Fix for custom cosmetics that worked for me

Close server, delete this line from your servers GameUserSettings.ini:

CosmeticWhitelistOverride=URL

Uninstall then reinstall all custom cosmetics
Restart server

It did take a minute for them to load in the inventory tab after the restart

I have been experiencing an issue for about a year where updates for Ark: Survival Ascended fail to download. When starting an update, Steam shows 0 B/s for network, even though the maximum download speed is correctly displayed and my SSD is very fast.

I have already tried:

Clearing the Steam download cache

Changing the download region

Deleting temporary folders like downloading and shadercache

Running Steam as administrator

Uninstalling and reinstalling Ark multiple times

Despite this, every update still results in the message “Corrupted update files,” and the download does not start.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

you need to relook that one up it is a NVME m.2 . You can use any Drive to play ark including old one. NVME is better obviously then a Sata Drive (plater of flash) but the guy saying you cannot use one for modern games needs to do some homework.

it has to download and patch not patch as it downloads. Steam does things different ways. There are alot of factors causing the patch slowness. If it is your main drive it does other things as well.

I don't know what channel to use for feedback, but I tried submitting an email to studiowildcard and it said support has ended for Evolved even though I was referring to Ascended in the ticket. Regardless my feedback is if I haven't purchased a paid map and don't plan on purchasing a paid map I don't want that paid map's creature in my base game maps. So i tried filling out a "bug report" on the Survive the Ark website, but I'm not feeling particularly confident about that, considering there's things on the support page that haven't been updated in over a year. Is there any other way to reach out for support? My computer exceeds minimum specs to run the game, diagnostics show that my GPU is functioning perfectly and not over stressed, and yet, every single time I try to load into single player since defeating the Manticore on Scorched Earth, I crash, no matter the map. I've tried everything short of completely reinstalling Windows. Reinstalling the game worked...once lol. Since then, I've reinstalled it three times and I never make it past character creation (since it deleted my character again, yay). It's kind of ridiculous that I can't play this game that I've paid for all of a sudden, and just have to pray i get an email back, i guess.

If it works the same as it did in ASE, you have to walk on foot into that area to trigger the spirits to spawn. If you go in on a Dino, it sometimes won't work

I have absolutely had ARK refuse to close from task manager & Steam lol, meanwhile other things are working just fine. ARK is a special kind of broken. Both ASE and ASA have done this to me

there is nothing a user-ring program can do to do that, not a matter of how "broken" it is. your PC basically has to be locked up

stuff can deadlock so badly it will in theory close some day, just not now.. or windows can fail entirely at the attempt under special conditions

I don't disbelieve you, I'm just saying what I've experienced lol. I'll hit end task, and the frozen window will just sit there, taunting me. Can do anything else, just not that. Now, this only happens in specific rare instances, but still. I've had the entire computer lockup before, but sometimes when ASE would crash, it just would not go away. My most recent string of crashes in ASA also had one time where it wouldn't stop. Most of the time it would produce the UE4 GPU crash error message and be able to close just fine, but there was one time where it didn't. ARK (and PCs in general, tbf) be wilding

ASE (potentially ASA, not sure) has a weird way it calculates food usage in troughs. Basically when an area is loaded in again after being inactive for a while, it calculates food spoilage first, and THEN calculates how much should have been eaten. This does mean that more food will spoil than it should, potentially leaving your babies with less than needed to survive

Tek troughs or just filling a truly ridiculous amount of troughs or changing stack sizes should mitigate this to be less noticeable

What you're probably is just the excessive food spoiled from the wonky process of calculations done on food spoilage

Also don't forget if you're on Scorched, food spoils faster

Update on the "UE4 GPU crash dump triggered" error.
The computer shortly after started having Wi-Fi problems whilst no other machine in the house was, and having various other bizarre behaviors. (This computer was originally my brother's because mine shit the bed.) I have now learned a valuable lesson about always factory resetting a computer, even if it's from someone you trust lol. I had to completely reinstall windows from a thumb drive.
Now the computer is working just fine and ASA works. Yay 🫠

If you can, I'd recommend trying to get a Griffin from Ragnarok. If you want to strictly do it via SE, then you'll want to probably just tame/breed a bunch of moths or argies, and accept that you'll get roasted many times in the process lol. Just go back on a new one, grab your stuff, keep booking it away. Try to go towards other wild dinos that will catch the wyv's attention. Or set up turrets to kill them and kite them to the turrets

Try ghosting until you are close to the point you are teleporting back. Then use your spy glass look at your argy and whistle him to follow you. Hopefully he moves towards you and past the teleport barrier.

What are you talking about? You also seem to be a complete novice when it comes to computers. Ark doesn't run on more than four cores. You can easily check that on your PC. So, regardless of how many more cores your PC has, it won't perform better in the game.

ive also never seen a UE5 game max out my 5600G,usually sits between 60 and 70% usage (well outside shader compilation, that pegs a 9950X at 100% too tho)
but i bet 4 cores of ZEN 3 would be maxed out (4 core ZEN 4/5 tho ? im skeptical, though id still expect perf to be better at higher cores)

yeah, 4 cores are utterly crippled in ASA. people have tried

6 cores without SMT are crippled as well, 9600k and such get hideous performance, always 100% thread load

9700k at 8 threads as well. it really needs 12 threads to not stutter like crazy, with nothing else running. like most modern games

it is still a main+worker thread model, but if the GPU and main thread speed are both decent, it can use those workers pretty heavily

now, evolved and UE4 in general is almost totally single threaded. main+worker, but seemingly only 3-4 workers, and they dont do much

there is a pretty big diference between diferent core count CPU's from the same gen

there are quite a few that scale well, mostly things made for current gen consoles first. UE5 is still a bit archaic in it's threading model, but considering the massive amount of work it takes to make a fully parallelized game engine, and then train devs to not utterly shit the bed with thread safety and designing stuff so it can actually be done async or split between workers.. lol

main+workers is still going to be the shape of games for most titles for a long time

but as UE5 is showing, there can be a lot of shit for the CPU to do without needing to be factorio

between nanite, physics interactions, and all the usual drawcall fun
