Template Builder Help – Can’t Finish Large Viking Longhouse Build
Hey everyone, we’re on ASA for PS5 and trying to finish the large Viking longhouse using the template builder. We’ve got all the materials and every required structure crafted, but for some reason, it won’t place the last few pieces. The preview shows some parts as obstructed (like walls overlapping), but we’re not sure if that’s actually the issue or if it’s something else.

Has anyone run into this before on console? Could it be a collision problem, a placement bug, or something we’re missing? We’re really close to finishing and would appreciate any tips or advice—thanks!

It's the foliage and fluid interaction that does this, it's weird, turn it off and it will stop BUT you'll have floating rocks/ grass in some areas

OR turn up the distance slider on it, the top one right under 'enable fluid and foliage interaction' to at least 2, if your PC can handle it, alot less noticeable but quite expensive

its not "stronger" it just has more VRAM, which can make it better in certain situations
the 50 series isnt that bad if you ignore all the controversy (fake frames/MFG, 12VHPWR and fake MSRP though thats fixed at this point) and the poor current drivers
however even then it is a very dissapointing generation, 8GB cards are still a thing, now even more powerfull (on paper) yet very similarly priced to last gen
RT performance didnt improve, they silently dropped support for a feature that legacy titles used, and general performance was very similar to last gens 40 series
the 50 series just doesnt deserve the title of next gen its more of a refresh, kinda like intel 14th gen

It's not completely loading in. Like a weird sort of partial alopecia. The color is all there on the scalp but half of the hair texture is missing. It will briefly pop into existence here and there while I'm playing and pop in when I click on inventory (will see it in that brief moment before inventory fully loads up).

Footprints are doing the same thing but that's not as big a bother lol.

Don't even need to try, just carry any structure, resource or ammo and transfer maps and you'll double it..its causing issues for all servers that have higher then default stacks and needs to be stopped.

Hi, regarding ASE, has anyone ever had the BattleEye error: Client not responding? I've been battling with it for hours and hours on end and can't seem to fix it, from reinstalling the game, the anticheat, verifying files, firewall access, driver updating, nothing seems to be working.

All this time since the UE 5.5 update, and some graphics, especially foliage that is about 50m and further away, looks just awful, muddy mushy and not detailed anymore. Even with Most/all settings at Epic/max.

Hello. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I placed a metal foundation with two tek troughs yesterday morning outside of my base. By this morning the foundation has self destructed and the troughs are gone. There is no way it just decayed in that time. This isn't the first time this has happened but the other times they were just pillars so I assumed this was coded to deter people from pillaring the whole map. This was a foundation with powered troughs in use on it? What gives?

Also, I have another trough on a pillar with a ceiling. Not full, not powered. Placed same time and it's still there 🙄

You need 2 foundations if using just foundations or they decay. Troughs do not count...a pillar by itself will decay too

you need to have it on an SSD, preferably on a good NVME SSD, that has a cache so that the patching can be done on like 500-1000 Mbyte/s. the actual download isnt big nor long, its the patching that takes forever and the only way to speed that up is by going faster drives (aka nvme ssd)

Yeah and have a lot of free space it on for caching, ARK updates cache 6 or 7 times the size of the update so you constantly need 300 GB of space for bigger updates

hey so it says that ase takes up 165 gb on the steam page so i freed up more then 165 gb and put it to download and when i came back the file was 175 gb and the downloading stopped at like 30% cuz there was not enough space

Pausing ARK downloads takes a long time, thats normal. Your disk can only write as much data as you can download so unless your internet speed is throttling your disk speed I am not sure what could be your issue

Is your nvme your only disk with steam?

You need good saddles if you don't have good saddles they will all die on alpha.

Like 70 armor MINIMUM. 2nd or 3rd generation would help unless you've locked in good stats already. You want around 350+ melee at pop at the very least and probably close to 8-9k health. Level to about 13k health and the rest melee and you might have a chance with decent saddles.

You could maybe get away with 11-12k health. Alpha brood hits hard.

@tired shale Yes we fizxed it. If you have another in your tribe, they can reinvite you. His happend do to our server crashing while he was off server and had just transfered. It duped his character by accident. So it had to overwrite it with the original one. I then got ownership of the tribe by default. I reinvited him to the tribe and returned ownership.

Limiting frame rate is the best way to achieve this. Im playing asa with a 11900/3080 on 1440 on roughly medium-high settings.
Disable fog, water/plant sim, turn down shadows and such, and ai upscaling bs off. Game is perfectly playable, and I even have a little headroom to mitigate stutters and such

Have you tried completely reinstalling the game OR replacing the DLSS files in game? You can technically override these with Nvidia App (DLSS all set to use latest)

I mean when you uninstall you go into the game folder and remove it too (taking any saves out first).

It maintains some settings and log files if you don’t manually delete the Ark folder.

So I am having issues with custom cosmetics. Aren’t people supposed to be able to see the cosmetics that I have even if they do not have the mod themselves? So i was wrong it only upscaled from 1080 when i set screenpercentage to 75

66.8 was some random resolution lower than 1080 lol BUT it looks like the in game settings are borked because after setting it to 75, then switching to DLSS quality and then back to DLAA with 100 res scale, it renders at native xD if you dont change the screenpercentage first it stays stuck at 66.8

I've had nothing but issues With the dynamic downloading of mods I run a RP Server and it just nukes the flow when the person shows up thinking they look one way when in actuality they look like some mismatched armor scrub. Personally I'm playing on Pc through Xbox play anywhere and have the dl speed maxed out for the dynamic downloads and most things when it downloads it just sits in my installed mods and I can't actually see any difference on structures or Survivors. I have the same reported issues from other people on the server. I've look up and down and every where for info

I think I saw in one post on here that Dynamic downloading is disabled? For non official or Ark whitelisted mods? Does this mean that each individual person on the server needs to manually go through and download every mod everyone is using on the island?

Ragnarok ASA single player Xbox. I've not found a single treasure map since starting Rag. I've killed lots of scorpions, at least 50 Argys and maybe 20 Rexs, who knows how many raptors, and a dozen Griffins. Is this a bug? I was playing Astreos before Rag came out and never had a problem with getting maps (even though they all led to the middle of the ocean!).

Okay so pretty confident my server and I have identified a pretty damning bug with the template tool. The template tool is placing foundations that dont actually count as touching the ground or count as foundation support. As a result when you log out for a few hours you risk the foundation decaying even though it hasnt reached the 12 day window for stone in this case. lost my industrial forge and two storage boxes full of loot because of it on offical pve.

Are you running any sort of overclock on your GPU/CPU? Back up your savedarks directory and uninstall the game. Then go to the Ark Ascended folder and delete it from steamapps/common/. Reinstall the game files.

My suggestion would be then to install a program like MSI Afterburner or something like HWinfo and look for anything abnormal like high temps or high usage (outside of the GPU which should be 100%).

Also, it wouldn’t hurt to DDU your graphics driver and reinstall.

Ever since the last update my game feels off... like I can't even listen to music on YouTube anymore. It's using a lot more system resources. I go play any other game just fine and my music has no interruptions but as soon as I launch Ark my music goes in and out and can't keep up since this last DLS plugin update. Game even hitches all the time now but it's only a microsecond but still very annoying.

Anyone else with this issue? I just DL the latest driver just now so bout to login with it and see but doubt it fixes the issue. *fingers crossed though.

Anyone know a work around for "Memory sync" crashes on PS5?

I play for about 15 to 45 min then crash.

No issues on Astreos but Rag, Scorched and Ab all crash within that time frame.

Exactly!!!! What the heck! It wasn’t in patch notes so maybe the color #1 they took off and the sinking of skin on taxidermy really screwed them up! That was the best thing to travel with on atraeos and now I absolutely hate going and doing anything on that map because I can’t use it!

TBF Maeguanas might be a bit too OP with their flight mechanic. Infinite lift means that you aren’t really a glider, but more of a space ship. You can still travel on Astraeos, but it requires you to attain elevation first. In any case, the Maeguana makes all the other flyers slow and useless by comparison, and you add in the fact that it can nurse babies and is at least somewhat average in combat, it all adds up to being OP.

It’s odd to me that Maewing is faster than a Tropognathus with a jet pack strapped to its back.

depends, the Meaguana got released as a better glider and could have lift when aimed slightly up, all gliders, including parachutes do that in real life. Changing a dino 4 months later to hit the "glider" narrative is kind of weird to do.

regardless, they changed a dinos mechanics without any mention of it regardless of what you think a glider should or shouldnt be. you should be concerned. if comcast all of sudden charges you $10 more a month but doesnt mention why, are you okay with that or do you need some type of explantion

should they have mentioned it, sure ofcourse, but that doesn't change that it's a glider, that shouldn't be able to fly up, only on the last bit if you get some updraft, but that does slow you down a lot
