you have to drag a large dino corpse to it so it triggers a sniffing animation, when it eats the corpse you will see a bar over its head you have to fill. when its filled, it will allow you to ride it. when you do just kill everything in sight within the time allotted. when you you fill the taming bar, you have yourself a knew sharptooth doggo!

I have two glaring issue and no clue how to fix. 1- transferring server on my cluster and the game freezes every single time on trying to log in to the new ser ver and 2- trees/rocks/etc once cleared in my base are now there again but i mesh through them and cannot clear them. on the 2nd issue - i did delte my gamesttings.ini on my client but it did not fix the issue - thoughts/helps?????

Has anyone had the issue on console (to my knowledge to only be on console) where dinos stored in cryopods before the update were then unable to be thrown out after the update and crashing you game if you try to? Is there a known fix to this or are they lost forever? (just straight vanilla pods and dinos with the exception with a cryo sickness mod that has been fixed. The pods are normal, it just gets rid of cryo sickness)

there's only really an ini setting which is called DinoCount which can change the dino spawn population. I think by default it's at 0.7 or 0.8 and setting to 1 is a LOT

i was getting the GPU Dump crash constantly before and after the 5.5 update. i found someone on here after days of sifting through messages that said to downgrade your GPU drivers to an earlier set. and that fixed the GPU Dump crashes. for me at least

Other than players reporting the issue here and in on the ARK Forum I've seen no acknowledgment from the developers. I was having this issue but it seems to have resolved since server patch v66.39. Not sure if the patch is what fixed it or not but things seem to be back to normal for me.

@carmine lance if you want to reproduce this on your pc just tick the "Max Frame Rate" and set to 0 and hit safe ... this is what it looks like (the only differens i can see is the GPU load is differend to the real fps issue) BUT you will notice an huge Ping and even the menu is stay at 10 fps

Real Fps issue = GPU load still at 98%
Simulated Fps issue = GPU load goes down to 16%

Thats not how it works, 70% means you aren't getting the full potential out of your GPU, either through settings or a severe CPU bottlleneck, the load and FPS drop are not related at all

Thats just how they are =/ you could try using the mod 'glass tileset' to skin walls and add frames to it. the greenhouse glass and the mod 'greenhouse glass fix' , Arkitect structures remastered has some glass options or the Kilnger structures mod, the frontier glass has always been grainy to me

Its been a hot minute since ive been on the asa scene; I saw that they made the maps togglable for storage reasons but its still way higher than when I last played it, which is odd considering that I wouldve had two maps installed then instead of just the base game. (When I played Scorch the game was like 100, now its 161 without maps) Compared to ASE, the map storage size is also tiny (About 5-6 gb each compared to ASE's 40s-ish range). How i fixed my GPU crash dump issue.

I went to Nvidias website to download old drivers, specifically 566.xx drivers from dec 10th 2024 update (new drivers are 576.xx) and I've been in the game for over 15 minutes now with mods on the cluster and zero issues.

In for over a half hour now tho. Purposely opening and closing vaults and reps trying to crash myself

also might be worth using DDU too, as that resolves some things that a regular rollback doesnt (like CPU usage getting pegged at 100%)

ok might be on something !!!!! people having fps drop issue try that :
cap you framerate to something you PC can achieve without the frame generation
exemple : my pc can run my custom setting at +72fps without frame generation , so i cap my 144hz monitor to 72.
so now when i am in inventory , stat fps and afterburner show 72FPS because frame gen is off in menu.
outside inventory is cap at 57fps in stat fps and 72 in afterburner ( because that is how frame gen work)

the thing is to make sure you stay lock on you framerate cap when frame gen on/off

to test this simply cap your FPS to what your inventory fps drop (which is ''half'') the real one.
this also solve the vram spike when opening inventory!!!
edit : the ingame frame cap doesnt work on FG frame , you need to use rivatuner of something external.

Yeah i just dont see why mods would deactivate them when commands dont. Usually mods in something like Minecraft deactivate it because some mods make things easier. Even turning on a simple command will also permanently disable them for the same reason.

So if asa allows trophies via commands it doesnt make sense to not allow them due to a mod

I think that the map and explorer note data is usually stored locally within your My Documents folder, if the game isn't saving those then it's likely that the folder with that data is read only or the game doesnt have write permissions for that folder.

if it's not the My Docs folder then it's somewhere on your PC

Curseforge is behaving REALLLLY strangely today! Logged into my server, and it showed only TWO MODS (We have 11). Nooooo! Luckily I'm admin, so I went in and checked on Nitrado - all mods seem to be there. I stopped the server, uninstalled everything, reinstalled, and restarted - that seemed to fix the issue. But I play on two different clusters, one where I'm not admin (the other cluster is on a private server). At first, I got "Content Failed to Load" on that one. Then it showed 8 of our 11 mods there (they have 11 too). I back out, refreshed, went back in and it showed ONE mod. 😳 Backed out, refreshed again, and it showed 8 mods again. I know that Dino Depot updated earlier. I think Curseforge isn't catching up with the updates today. Just letting everyone (especially server owners!) know.

Anybody has any idea what causes the game to freeze for several seconds anytime I leave any inventory or storage? The game gets stuck on the menu close animation, each time. I had specifically this issue when I downloaded some structure mod packs. like the sci-fi and neon building packs.
also clearing out my hard drive of some old games helped it run better. like weapon skins or power rangers mods work fine it was specifically structure mods that bogged my inventory for some reason.

New dupe bug... Whenever I travel, the client always crashes (it happened before 5.5, though—it wasn't always there, just almost always 😉 ). Afterward, many items in my inventory doubled in size. For example, I traveled from Astraeos to Center with 42 Stone Quarter Walls and 6 homemade food items (crash; connect to Center, download client). I now have 84 Quarter Walls and 12 food items. Only what's stackable is doubled. Everything else isn't.

make sure you are collecting the correct nodes as well.
for early game use river rocks (more spherical then normal rocks in river beds/beaches)
they give more metal then normal rocks.
or find metal nodes usually on top of mountains or hills

you can keep asking, but you wont find one you like. it is quite well-documented to not be anywhere near playable on the deck. people try, despite it being clearly listed as unsupported and nowhere near the minimum spec

edit engine.ini and force really low VRAM pool and mip/lod bias, perhaps. maybe that will get it into game long enough to do something

Trying to use an imprint cake on an adolescent dino. I have not used a cake on it at all. I can't use it in it's inventory and using one while looking at it consumes the cake and does nothing. I tried logging out. I tried closing my game. I can't get this dino to eat this cake.

Agreed this is large issue. I submitted a bug report. Perhaps try that route to let they know the size the the issue. I can load into the other server by rerunning ark and downloading my character. However going over the club ark seems broken as well on unofficial.

I run a server with some friends and my game will be running at like 50-80 frames which is normal but then out of no where drop to 3-5 and wont reset unless i log out and back in. I downloaded some creature mods for my solo world on asteroes (PlayStation), they don’t spawn in, I have to keep doing the “kill all wild Dino” spank man, and it still doesn’t work. And every time I do that my Mac resets so I have to rediscovered it at all.

1. Reconnect
2. Type t.maxfps 10 (This will limit your fps to 10 but will double due frame generation and GPU usage will drop to 85-90%, its playable but still annoying)

Frame generation need overhead for the latency , this is why it cause 250+ms latency when the gpu is at 100% because the ingame fps limiter doesnt work with frame gen

setting a framelimit instead of having unstable frametimes will make perceived latency less, and the act of doing that usually reduces GPU load below maximum, since load level will fluctuate frame to frame and force inefficient usage of the GPU
