Not really something that I can easily explain here. Best thing I’d suggest is googling for “create dedicated Ark survival ascended server”

There are server managers that make it easier. But you’ll ideally want a separate dedicated PC to host it. Doesn’t have to be high spec, a dual core processor with 16GB of RAM is enough for a single map.

Ive tried optimising the game through the GeForce experience app. ive tried validating the files on steam, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the game. so far no luck.

Jason, before you try reinstalling windows, you might consider checking for corruption with the command "sfc /scannow" in a command prompt. Look at tenforums.com and search for "sfc", there's a post that explains it.

Since ASA's release, wild baby dinos don't extract properly, making it really hard to add them properly to the library. Is there a way around this? 16GB ram is the only thing that is required (you could get away with less but I wouldn't go below 12 as some maps will use it all until they are fully loaded)
better CPU probably helps but I doubt mine is that good so a few people probably doesn't need much.

if you are hosting for people outside your home then you'd probably need good/decent internet but if its inside your LAN then it doesn't need good internet except for updating.

dinos take a while to respawn on singleplayer. do you have hibernation disabled, if you don't then dino finders will only see dinos near you.

singleplayer needs to run on a lot less resources than a server, it deletes all dinos that are outside your view distance and just stores their species and level, they respawn from that if you get close

disabling hibernation makes them stay spawned, but freeze completely. uses way more memory, but enables some mods like dino finders to work

im trying to run a dedicated server with SOTF but when i set it to the SurvivalOfTheFittest_TheIsland_WP map it never shows in the server list but the server stays up in nitrado. if i set it to the normal TheIsland_WP it shows up and i can join but its the SOTF UI and dinos are tamed like in SOTF but you're just spawned in on the island its not the SOTF game mode

Theres 2 things you need to do.

I always crash and disconnect about >30 seconds into connecting but if I stay logged in for longer, I'm there for the long haul, finally.

Having said that, I disconnected from my Discord call I was in, and now it seems to have finally allowed me to stay connected so my play session can finally start after 2+ hours of failed log-in attempts.

happened to me before. It seem to happen when you tried to click bed to respawn, but you are on "natural spawn" tab. So before I respawn, on the top left corner you can select between two tabs (i forgot whats it called), one for natural spawn and one for bed. Make sure you're on that tab before clicking bed to respawn.

anyone have any fixes for center constantly crashing? i dont have a great pc but it should be way good enough. rtx 2080 and i7 9700k with 64gb of ram.

my buddy has a 2060 and an i7 8700k and 32gb ram and he runs it just fine. i have literally gotten so frustrated that i did a fresh windows install and only run steam and ark and that still didnt help

if i launch with d3d11 enabled it doesnt crash but its entirely unplayable

when im above land i crash maybe every 20 minutes. when im under water i can only play for about 10 seconds

and no crash report either. and the game doesnt close. i maintain audio but my screen is completely frozen. game shows its not responding in task manager and task manager is the only way to kill the game

running on all low settings and im only at about 60% cpu and gpu usage

Sounds like we might have gotten our answer, ive never understood the drooling people have of many mods. Recently in here someone had 62 MODS. And questioned why they are crashing. The more mods there is to the spaghetti bowl, more likely for there to be issues because theyre not up to date, theyre made but unexperienced modders, etc etc

You should be able to, they can inject mods into a server unless theyre open to people

Whenever I transfer maps (official small tribe) the first 10 minutes or so anything I build or place down disappears. Then I’m good. Anyone else experience this? It’s happened multiple times. Either boost ur rates or if the dino you're raising have a small drag weight, adding them onto the pouch of a boost mated female procoptodon, then imprint might work. It just double the base imprint, so it may not work for 1x cuddle if the base is low.

I went on club ark now there's a bunch of cosmetics mods in my installed mods section and now I can't join servers because there's not enough space. I can't Uninstall them because it doesn't show them as installed, they are just there. I think installing then deleting them might work but the power rangers mod is there so I'd have to waste $10 to get rid of it what do I do.

I’ve been having problems when I get on and off my bug often and my character gets stuck in 3rd person. I’m on Xbox so I reset it and the game multiple times but it won’t let me manually toggle off 3rd person. Anyone know anything about this?

Every time I knock a megalania with a mantis (with clubs equipped) the taming efficiency goes down to like 30% without me hitting it after it's knocked. Does anyone know what's going on?

Anyone else build and place forcefield and now have a permanent forcefield icon on their hud? I removed the forcefield because paying 1 ele an hr for it's smallest setting on PVE to create an area safe for server studs for the public for free was NOT worth it. But now it won't go away.

There is a spot in one of the entrances to the underworld which has water that is just as deep as a human where you find around 70 silica pearls by hand. Other then that, i would recomand to get yourself some pearls from under the floting island next to blue ob. There are nasty creatures in that water, but you can get a few hundred silica pearls by just using flippers and a Pteranodon flying over the different areas jump down collect a few, fly to the next spot and so on.

the total level of a dino is the sum of all it's stat levels

so, how does 255 or less in each stat add up to 3000?

the max wild level you can use before stuff starts to go to hell is about 600, and game balance is already dead at that point

mods cant change how it works. stats are always 8 bit values, always have been

you just never noticed, most likely. levels that high are completely meaningless, they dont even matter anymore and stats basically become random

confusingly, you see the "real" levels when stuff was spawned initially, but they are clamped to 8 bits on any save/load or server restart

im attempting to get back into the game currently as a series S player, i attempt to join a server and the entire game closes after a few minutes, then i cant play the server anymore as i am then kicked before even loading in
this cant be a mod problem as ive attempted to play on about 5 servers now and the same problem occurs
this isnt a problem in single player but single player just isnt as fun as multiplayer, is there any insight or known bugs about this?

series S has extremely limited memory capacity, and more than a few non-tiny mods easily make it crash in exactly the way you described. a lot of people report similar problems

adding enough mods will make anything crash, the S just has a lower than normal tolerance. but not marketed so much as microsoft makes releasing on the S mandatory despite the crippled specs, not an option

i dont see a future in which the later, big maps will ever run on the S, microsoft will need to make some difficult choices

mods are an at your own risk thing. hopefully the game itself gets better

playing on a server can help improve things especially if your issue is crashing (since then it won't corrupt or rollback)
