On My husbands single player file his tamed Dino’s won’t eat despite being down to half health in some cases. He has a trough full of berries and meat plus food in their inventories and no luck. Anyone know how to fix this?

Probably lt has the trough settings on exclude all or only feed x dino just pick it up and place it again kr change the settings

Another reason could be the dinos r too far out tell him to click "show trough radius" the radius is probably not reaching the dinos

It’s not either of those things. He has picked up and replaced the trough and even made a new one. They are right next to the trough too. And they won’t eat from their own inventory either.

if after tame its level 96, then all 6 stats would have an average of 16 points on them (96/6=16). Less than 16 points makes it a bad roll, more than 16 points makes it good. 25% more than the average makes it great, 35% more (like 50 points when average is 37) is amazing and very unlikely.

You'll need to use a calculator or tek binoculars or a mod to see how many points it has in a stat just after being tamed

Hi all, I want to ask for help because I've been messing with my save files trying to get an older version in singleplayer The Island ase but I think I messed something up. Whenever I try loading in the game stops loading at "TheIsland_Ruins" and crashes sending me an error message saying "Assertion failed: (Index >=0) & (Index <ArrayNum)". I'm not sure what this is and I would really, really appreciate help if you have any idea what this means (I have a screenshot of the crash message).

Anyone know if they have fixed or found a work around for the single player not saving? I don't have time to be on PVP without getting mo lested, and PVE is so glitchy and laggy that its not worth it to play. they once completely wiped a server on ase, save worlds the lot, 4 months gone, ever since i keep hard copy of the ini files and ftp world saves to my computer once week , just so dont lose that much if they f, up

Hi all, I messed with some game files trying to revert to an earlier save on my ase singleplayer world but in doing so I renamed some files and have no idea what happened because the game keeps crashing when I'm loading (specifically crashes at the "TheIsland_ruins" part). Does anyone know about this or know how I can solve this, please help me.

easy on pc, delete the mod file in its directory , clear steam cache, restart pc re download mod,
oh on ps, delete the whole dam game , clear the cache, restart ps , redownload whole game and in future only download mods from the mod list , not when you join server (this can still corrupt them but lot less chance)

You're best to look up a guide for using your backup saves (The one with yesterday's date), I believe it's as simple as moving out the 'TheIsland_WP.ark' and then renaming the 'TheIsland_WP_25.12.2023_20.01.59.ark' by removing the '_25.12.2023_20.01.59' part, but best you double check.

That would take you back to yesterday's save, if that's the latest backup you have. Can you confirm, your files don't seem to have '_WP' when you write them?

I've been fortunate to never have had to go through this process, so I suggest you look up a proper guide on using backups. I'm not sure why yours don't say '_WP' but mine do, perhaps you're using the Windows Store version and it's different.

The upside is that you have recent saves and should be able to recover them, but a guide will tell you what other files you need to make sure are okay, like the tribe file, or whether you need to use the anticorruption backup instead. I can't specifically advise you personally because I haven't gone through this process myself.

A mindwipe is an item that resets your characters engrams and points when consumed. Hopefully it will be a workaround for your missing stat points.

They are in a spawnpool, take Carno Island for example, the spawnpool contains Argies, Rex, Carno, Scorpions, Raptors and Sabretooth. Most are limited by a total of their type that can spawn, but between all the types it's easy to fill the spawnpool without a Rex spawning. So in short, keep killing everything around Carno Island to free up space until some spawn.

Ah if you mean like coop I'm not sure how that works between Steam/Epic. You guys could host your own server if you have an okay computer or you could rent one from Nitrado.

The dedicated server takes about 10GB of RAM to run for reference. You could probably host one on your same machine you play on if you have enough extra RAM. There's a lot of guides for it online

Whilst they spawn around a lot of mountains/forested hills, the difficulty in seeing them and other creatures makes that less favourable to me. Two locations that have particularly good visibility are Carno Island and the River to the North of the Redwoods. I can't say that has the highest spawn rate for them, but I think they are the easiest locations to farm. I would actually keep circling Carno due to just how controlled the environment is for you as a hunter, but others might have different opinions.

Imagine that the mother had 3 health mutations, the father had none. The baby inherits the fathers health stat, but, it also inherits the total mutations from parental lineages (3 + 0), so now your baby has 3 mutations on its lineage, with no actual mutations.

I would highly recommend checking out some of the incredible guides about mutations on Youtube. It's a complicated subject as you first learn it, hard to explain here fully to you compared to directing you there. 20 mins of time invested watching that, could save you hours or days of work if you make a mistake.

Whilst it is all relevant, there is one pretty major change, they've separated tamed stats and mutation stats. The main result meaning you can breed in a new tame stat into your breeding line if you find a better base dino.

Nope. The mutation counter you're talking about is actually bad - you want to avoid it going up as much as possible. The only thing that matters is stat increases.

You could use the DestroyMyTarget command, but please be careful and very accurate using it. I'm concerned that you can't kill it by normal means but perhaps feel you should be able to, if it's bugged and that command 'misses' it, it would destroy anything behind it instead.

It's probably a better option than the issue that was happening due to that save button. I'm not a console player so can't help too much with what may be causing your crashes, you say doing simple things, like what? If it's inventory related, you can check if you have an option to 'Disable Menu Transitions', if you do, set that to ON, could help

Yeah we talked before I believe, I have a pre-July 2019 AMD GPU and the water in this game is not compatible with them, any AMD GPU before that date drops into the single digits if you go near water. You used to be able to use r.water.singlelayer 0 to remove the surface of the water (which unfortunately made water invisible from above) and that would fix the framerate issue, but since they patched the game to prevent you doing that for exploit/cheating reasons, it doesn't work anymore and there's no workaround

Ah, singleplayer in Ark (both SE and SA) has long had problems with resources failing to [re]spawn after harvesting. Specifically, if you leave render range before the item respawns, it never will. AFAIK there's an adjustment you can make to up the respawn rate, but it still only works if you stay in render range until the item/creature respawns.

If you're on single player set the resource respawn rate to 0.01, or as low as it will let you.

Then take a flyer and go out a couple minutes straight away from where you want the resources to respawn. I took an argy until his stanima ran out. You just need that area to un render and then rerender under the new spawn conditions.

When you return the resources will be back and you can reset your resource respawn rates to something more reasonable. (If you leave it at 0.01 they respawn basically as soon as you turn your back)

To prevent this in the future, refrain from logging out within 30 minutes or so of harvesting those resources (its a bug, SURPRISE)

The Series X runs the game with dynamic resolution, it attempts 4k but basically never achieves it because it's badly optimized, it's equivalent to a mix of medium and high settings on PC, and it holds a 30 fps minimum, but isn't framelocked so it'll ramp up as high as it can in less intensive scenes. You can use a site like PC part picker to create a build and check for compatibility for the most part. Two words of warning, check how much output your PSU has (most of them have written it in pretty giant numbers on it tbh), second if you are keeping an old motherboard I suppose you are keeping the old CPU, watch out not to get a uberduper new graphics card and then have a 60% bottleneck due to the CPU. I’m not one of those who think it is too relevant for general gamers, but it does become very relevant if it is significant. On sites like the one I suggested they have forums, you can ask for insight but you gotta find out what you have before planning what to buy 😉

The size of the case matters because you get different form factor motherboards. ATX is the standard but you also get mini-ATX, micro-ATX, and XL-ATX. It's important to know what motherboard you have because motherboards have specific CPU sockets and that restricts which CPU's work with them. It'll also restrict what RAM will work with it

asa doesnt seem to like rtx stuuf, so if you have any that on turn it all off an test. sometimes having the foilage interction on causes crashes, try it off, test
make sure your gpu drivers are update, if they arent do a clean install then test, verify game files

theres a list as long as my arm of various causes , but mostly it seems the game isnt very well optimized yet is the general consenus

Anyone know if the water artifact caves have the same resource gathering multiplier as the land caves? I got 500 metal from a metal node in one using my dunkleosteus which seems better than what my anky gets from metal nodes around the island but there aren't any metal nodes below the water that aren't in caves to compare against, and the gathering rates on the stones along the floor of the cave don't seem significantly better

gmsummon "dino_character_bp_c"150 will spawn a dino thats level 150, perfect tamed to level 225. just replace dino with whatever you want, like ptero for a ptera. sometimes its mispelled or completely different so check wiki for spawn codes.
