You need to disable singleplayer settings. For good measure, also choose maximum difficulty. Should give you lvl 150. Also, dont forget to dino wipe.

Question about the dedicated server: How long after the console window opens does the server start working? The old dedicated servers used to take a few minutes.

I have a dedicated server up and I can see it making TCP connections out to aws servers, but I do not see it listening on UDP ports and the mem usage is only ~270MB. The console has been up 10 minutes, the ASE servers would start up after 3 or 4 mins on my rig.

From what ive seen so far, it happens to the lower end cars, and to people with overclocked GPUs, (ref. reddit, here last night, and a few buddies of mine), maybe a driver error from the GPUs, my recommendation - fresh install of GPU drivers, lower graphics settings, using the console cmdlets to lower the graphics even further, /very well possibly could be an error within the game though

I’ve done all of it and have never once overclocked this 4080. Can entirely promise you it’s an issue that we can’t resolve on our own. Definitely needs Nvidia to release a new driver update or for WildCard to patch something that’s causing the issue if it’s internal.

So how do you know how guns compare to each other? After all they don't have a damage value. I can confirm you can have stable Unoffical servers. We have had a few hiccups around server restarts (with the map seeming to regress for some reason) but haven't had the server crash and do even have some mods installed.

I am really struggling to work out how to tame when I go out and try to trap a dino and other dinos come along and I have no dino to defend me haha. Idk what guns can even do. start by going down in small values, play-test the game, if it crashes again, repeat the process over and over and over til you get to a baseline that works, I would not recommend going up past 1800MHZ (MAXIMUM) though, that could trash your GPU

So in an optmized game you are sitting at 60-70? Yikes. Remember avg temps are avg's, it can be higher and lower. Different cards have different limits, but the first thing a card will do to save itself is downclock to stop heat generation. This is where you get stutters, hiccups, render lag, etc. The more it happens the worse it gets. Eventually its starts keeping the clock lower.

I wasn't the one that asked for specs, that was Capoair, I knew your specs were above but I don't have all 100's of CPU/GPU thermal envelopes memorized. A good rule of thumb is about 80 degress on AMD CPU and 100 on Intel. GPUs are all over the place depending on generation.

Unless your PC is underpowered, you kinda don't. Unetconnection is the networking layer in UE5. Most of the issues you see here are when either client (your machine) or server doesn't answer fast enough and it determines the connection is "lost". In most cases, theres not a ton you can do. That is however assuming you have a perfectly reliable internet connection. This is what most people THINK they have, when reality is pretty far from this. Really well optimized games know this and account for the weirdness of internet traffic. Ark right now is quite sensative to it, so it doens't take a ton of things to overwhelm the game and get it behind. Once it gets behind, the connection is likely terminated due to the game believing connection has been lost (this is my pure speculation based on my expereince in networking, programming, and web applications, I am not an ark dev).

Those servers crash must be due to some kind of Exploit.. i've seen several Private servers running without wipe or crashing since day1.. Public servers are having all sort of issues

Its load. Private server (generally) don't see the same load profile. I am not saying it can't be exploit, but just sheer load can do this too. You have to remember, those servers aren't just answering to the people on them, they also have some traffic/load advertising themselves out to the network, managing connection attempts, etc.

If you have "global illumination quality" on low, the light beams disappear. If you set it to anything else they come back

This means your GPU likely had a hiccup. The game was waiting for it to finish a task, but didn't do it in time. It caused the game to panic and crash. Honestly, theres not a ton you can do other than play with the graphics settings to find a good combo. This can also happen if your GPU has unstable clocks, is overclocked, etc. Basically there's supposed to be a hand off, but the GPU dropped the ball.

Can anyone think of a reason I can't pick up most dinos with an argy? Any dino that is tamed I can pick up, but wild dinos I've only been able to pick up Diplo's and Beavers. Another tribe on my server is able to pick up any wild dino with no issue.

Depends on who is actually the problem here. If a server is overloaded, then this issue will happen and theres nothing you can do. But if your local internet that your computer is connected to is over bad wifi, a cellphone hotspot, etc then there are things you can try.
