Hold down N and it should bring up a gun with several functions. One of them is a demolition gun. It’ll either pick up or destroy anything you shoot. If it’s red it’s gonna destroy, you just reload it and it’ll switch to black which picks up.

You’ll use it to start a line. Don’t be picky when looking for a stat, if you see another tek rex close to max level knock it and check it’s stat regardless of gender. If you find one with good melee tame it even if it’s another female and then just tame the first male you come across. You’ll then use breeding to get both stats onto one male and one female.

This is common. I don’t even use kibble below superior. The reason being I set up argy breedlines, then boss tame breed lines meaning by the time I’ve got a farm going I’ve got access to exceptional and extraordinary eggs.

Hey, guys. I'm a player that comes and goes over the years, always on dedicated solo maps, and always quits out of frustration because the same keeps happening again and again. Hope some people can give me advice that helps me enjoying this game a bit more

So what usually makes me quit is randomly getting spawn-killed by some random raptors. Ive tried to adjust and change my playstyle multiple times over the years. I like to explore the game to a certain degree, so I usually avoid tutorials that are too detailed. Anyway..

The usual thing Ive read is "tame and breed some dinos to help you fight". And this time I tried to focus on that. Built a basic base, made a 4x4 place for some dodos to lay some eggs, have a small farm with rockarrot and some other stuff for other kibbles, make an environment thats well insulated, just to finally start breeding some triceratops - which already took me like 7 ingame days (on standard settings).

So Ive played the whole game for I-dont-know-how-many-hours just to get to a point where I could start breeding, was lucky enough to fend off the occasional raptor, and then got smashed by a bunch of terror birds that were randomly walking by - cant outrun them to "bait them away" like it was suggested sometimes in the past with other dinos, cant fight them, cant get close to my base to get some weapons.

I feel pretty helpless at this point. I want to be self sufficient enough to keep playing, exploring, taming and discovering the map with all that stuff that I was never able to experience because I just never managed to get out of the "prologue" of my own game.

Where do I start? How do I recover? Is my playstyle just not viable? What can I do?

Fjordur is really cold to start out with and there can be a lot of dangerous things on beaches, I personally think its a pretty harsh learning curve for a beginner
I’d recommend playing the island first, it’s basically made for beginners and works really well

Anyways you can try to progress to stone as quickly as you can, if you can get stone dino gates around the area that you live then youll be pretty secure
That being said, you should always start out on beaches
If you’re fine with cheesing things a bit, getting a pteranadon as soon as you can will get rid of a very large amount of dangers

I’m fairly certain they’re essentially the same thing, but override allows you to go higher than offset.

they are different. override difficulty directly sets the difficulty value. while offset changes it based on the maps default I believe some are 4(120 max level) some use 5(150 max level)

long story short, always use the override rather than offset.

wiki says that island, scorched, aberration and gen2 use 4.0 and the rest use 5. not sure if thats true but there you go :P

As someone who spent like 40+ hours fishing, dont. fishing is agony. pain. hell. the only place its kinda worth doing it is in singleplayer because if a fish randomly kills itself, which happens a lot, you can at least reload the savefile to back before it died

when you catch a large fish, you can get great loot yes, but be prepared to spend over 10 hours trying to catch that one fish, ignoring the time it takes to find said fish in the first place

also the larger the fish, the better the loot is, issue is, that any fish above 2.2 size is almost physically impossible to catch while fish below 1.8 aren't worth catching I'd say

normally I'd hate people using stuff like this but at this point I genuinely almost suggest using a script for high tier fishes because they are just comically impossible to catch normally, with that I mean both the fish AI being beyond broken at times and the minigame being nigh humanly impossible for fishes above 2.2 in size

Both are passive tame. You have to kill off the mantas surrounding the basilo, and then passively feed it by swimming up to it. The tuso, you need a high health and oxygen dino (or a dino with no oxygen stat) and let the tuso grab it, and then feed the tuso black pearls. Dododex has timers as well as foods, and the wiki likely has preferred taming methods.

I think I'm sort of following. Only trick I know of would be to get a square into a different overlapping grid. But even then it would be slightly out of alignment with other squares. Sometimes in that kind of situation I eyeball it and place a square in an unsnapped position and then run more squares down to the desired location. Usually requires trial and error.

Hello all.

Looking for advice. My friend and I play Ark on a private server/cluster - 2 person tribe. Settings are like official with the exception of a few items - primarily to do with breeding (reduced mating c/d, increased maturity rate). No bump to damage, health, or any other stats.

We've been playing for about 5 years now working our way through the content on each expansion. Our private rule is we can't "progress" to the next expansion/server until we at least defeat the Gamma Boss on any expansion. When we move to a new expansion we don't bring any equipment, dinos, etc. We keep our levels/engrams but otherwise start from scratch.

We have to defeat Gamma Boss which then "allows" us to access our "master base" where all of our quality gear/dinos are store. We are using Rag for this purpose.

We are currenlty on Genesis 1. We've come to a realization that many Alpha Missions are outside our ability but we are at an impasse...we can't get past Corrupted Master Controller on Gamma.

We've even "broken" our rule and retrieved our top Dinos - Primarily Tek Rex, Tek Stego, Daedon and Yuty. Rex have 34K health and 750-800% dmg, Stegos are 25-30k Health and 500% dmg. All have very good saddles - 150 to 280 armor.

We have quality armor, Flak with 4000 total armor and each piece has 900-1200 durability.

All of our dinos and gear have bene acquired "officially" via drops, normal taming and breeding. Rex are 58 base health, 56 base dmg - 28th generation. Stegos are similar 52 health, 52 dmg.

We can get through the first 3 phases of the fight no problem using 11 Rex, 6 Stego, 1 Yuty, 2 Daedon or 16 Rex, 2 Daedon, 1 Yuty, 1 Dinopithecus but once we get to the 4th stage we are just purely overwhelmed.

We are beyond frustrated and most of the videos we've found online are using full tribes, highly boosted stats or some other "trick" to win.

Would love any help anyone has. This has been our most frustrating experience and I almost rage quite the game yesterday

the bug is if nodes are gone when the non-dedi/singleplayer is closed they can be removed.

I've found that moving far away from an area will help speed up respawns in solo. One trick I've used (which might be overkill) is to quickly fly far away, set infinite stats, and go afk for a bit.

any trick to getting dino growth speed and cuddle intervals just right so you get 100% imprint at once?

got dino growth on 6x now but I am by trial and error just adjusting the slider by a bit everytime I raise an animal

Hmm, do Tek Stryders have a timer before they can be moved/uploaded again to another mission terminal? (hope that makes sense haha) - I tamed 2, used a mission term' to get them closer to my base, now, about 3/4 hours later, they arent uploading an terminal.

what do you guys think of rexes? I've always used them to travel around safely until I recently tamed a thylacoleo, now I just do not see any uses for rexes outside bossfights, is it just me that is like this now or what?

now I am using honey for kibble and stuff I am so damn happy I increased the honey stacksize

and alphas often drop 300+ prime meat easily

or honey rocks in fjordur easily drop 200+ honey

also making storing said honey absolute agony

if you have to lure something with the honey, make sure you split the stack to one. putting it in your hotbar and pressing the key drops the whole stack

using a sarco this time.

the spawnrates in fjordur's oceans are just comically high

downright unfair levels of spawnrates of megalodons etc

probably because there is almost none of no deep ocean at all and thus everything spawns in the same 10 feet of deep water

I mean I am surviving it right now but there is no way in hell I can tame anything when there are constantly quite literally 50 megs chasing after me

nor can I collect much if any resources
