I'm trying to set up a dedicated ark server on a spare computer I have. I've been working on this for a while. I have Windows Server 2019 running on it (Tried Debian but that was a learning curve) I first installed it as the wiki describes. Set up the batch file and everything. It won't start because of two directx files that it's "Missing" I've googled as much as I can, but they all say "Download the Directx runtimes" I have. The two files it wants are not in the downloads

(Nor do I really know where to puit em)

I gave up with that, tried just installing the Steam Dedicated Server, click launch, it thinks then says "Nope" and closes right away.

I like a challenge, but I can't seem to figure this one out

Megatherium is already pretty strong, with a max lvl, you dont have a lot of health but great stamina and weight. And it goes in rage mode with bugs, and deals 5x the normal damage!

Can someone help me I’m confused about mutations

I have started mutating my rexes for bosses. I want all my mutations into health or melee so I bred my unmutated rexes until I got some mutations into health and melee. I now have lots of females with a couple mutations into both (level 217) and they all have less than 20 mutations in total. I am breeding them with a male that has another mutation into each stat (level 221) which has over 20 mutations in total. I am breeding these and getting plenty of 221 rexes but I can’t use those for breeding as they have 20+ mutations on both sides. So I am still breeding my 221 with my 217 is it still possible to get mutations (level 223) as I have maybe cracked 100+ eggs as they haven’t had a new mutation

STAT passes. The counter means shit aside from capping your chances

mutated stat of 40 is identical to a wild-tamed stat of 40

counter adds when 2 dinos breed regardless of what the stat does. stat is NOT connected in any way to the counter

Aaa, I screwed things up then. I cut maturation time by 3x and instead of cutting cuddle timer by 3x I increased it by 3x so now it will literally mature before the first timer and changing the setting don't seem to revert once the timer has started.

if it makes you feel any better imprint rate is a pain to balance without using the amount mult so you likely wouldnt have gotten 100% from its only imprint or something

I have a question about tek crop plots. Their description states something along the lines of "grow crops anywhere now, possibilities brought to you by tek". The idea is that they provide sunlight.

Here I am. One tek crop plot near two greenhouse structures. Has 25% greenhouse effect under the open sun, just as basic crop plots. Doesn't have the greenhouse effect in the tunnels of gen2. Or in any cave for me in general. Can't attach screenshot here or the link to images. It is just same construction of one foundation, glass stuff and crop plot with same power and water. Works outside, sucks inside.

Do tek crop plots get greenhouse effects anywhere in ark without sunlight assumin gen2 is bugged? Or do crop plots simply do not work as described resulting in being just basic crop plots, but with extra space? thing is, genesis dinos and dinopithecus can go above the normal level cap on offical (450) by 50 levels

Perhaps the shoulder pet you have is set on passive or passive flee. My dimorphodon saved my ass many times. I was hovering above a lake filled with piranhas and a spino and a rex on the beach and this microraptor pulled up outta nowhere. If it weren't for my dimorphodon I wouldn't be playing ark today.

1. It says in the wiki any shoulder pet will defend against microraptor unless on passive or passive flee or if the shoulder pet is a cowardly creature.
2. A dimorphodon on aggressive saved my ass from microraptors many many times. I've seen it myself it tanks the dmg from the microraptor and hits back.
