Asked some friends to pick a base spot for me so I'd be forced to build something different. Metal mountain lake was chosen, so initially I was aiming for a forge complex, but it evolved a lot over time. Part of a challenge playthrough to tame every creature in order with restricted levels/equipment, so a dermis museum of the tames was included.

Visual Storage mod used for the crane, barrels, wood piles etc. Might add a decor mod and give it another pass to fill it out at a later date.

Hmm. Sometimes even in Ase you can snap a ceiling to the other ceiling on top of a foundation. I think that's a setting tho

Put three triangle ceilings off the adjacent square ceiling so that a triangle edge lines up with the foundation. You should be able to snap a ceiling on top after that and pick up the triangles.

Otherwise you can check YouTube for a method to lower the ceiling to match the foundation, but it misaligns everything you snap on top of the ceiling and foundation. I preferred covering the foundations with ceilings even though it's expensive.

put a double door frame on the foundation then snap a ceiling where you want it to go. this will lower the ceiling just a bit. then you can pick up the door frame.
Keep in mind. this will also cause walls snapped to that ceiling to also be lower. but the floor will look level.

Go into Single player. get into GCM and PRACTICE. learn the mechanics. they just have fun.

they made it a lot easier to build in ASA for basics and harder to do intricate builds. in ASE it was easier to cheat the snap points and get things to look they way you like.

on unofficial you can use a mod like ASR which lets you turn off supports or use a floating floor. This is one base I built on Hidden Lake on my private cluster. the floating bit is an extra greenhouse as my main greenhouse is built into the base (like a conservatory design)

as a builder the one thing i really miss from ASE that is no longer possible is the ability to offset ceiling heights using the nipple of the pillar that used to poke through the ceiling this was a essential tool for builders on ASE and there is no way to replicate it on ASA

That's just breeding area tower is a public transmitter area. Lots of little details hidden under my forest area that can not get good screenshots of because it's designed to be scenic from different angles.

Keep in mind that most of the work I've done is just terraforming to build things in these screenshots. Way further along now, here is my ext base and my retired center breeding base.

That was all official PVE. I got help with thicc tower my tribe mates got burned out from the ark issues. 😦

Nice, wish I could of grabbed a different spot. The roof top I am on is not buildable unless you place things a very specific way sadly. The back side of the lower compound isn't buildable on that roadway. The walls on the compound had to be offset by building down too it and raising it up with pillars on fence foundations first then doing ceilings on a wall then pillaring down to get foundation support because things are just not placeable normally any other way. Super jank building spot.

Foundation support started from the top where tower is had to sink first foundation perfectly square then the rest of the base had to be projected from that one foundation. So getting base square like it is was extremely difficult.

I like how your base meshes into the existing structure though. That looks clean.

I hate messing with square and triangle pieces cause reasons lol but I saw a big hexagon base. Basically was 8 squares then 3 triangles then 8 squares. 3 triangles. Rinse repeat all the way around til it made like a hexagon shape.

What would be the next size up from that? Would 8x4 work or would it need to be 8x5 or 8x6 or something else?

You say that till I accidentally hit "all go there" when trying to open my map and then I spend the next 5-10 minutes getting everyone back on the raft and hopefully don't get ambushed by megas. I just had to deal with an alpha and like 4 others. Fortunately that pistol got rid of the regulars and the alpha fled.

Aah gotcha. That was really hard. Lots of practice and there is stuff that didn’t fit in the end, but I made it work. I also only use pillars and ceilings.

Haha yea foundation are not the way to go. Use pillars and then use walls to build downwards, to make it look like foundations. It also in return makes you use less structures, which helps with lag and costs etc. No mods needed

I've finished my build but I've discovered parts couldn't be placed due to foundation issues, going to remake it but the blue outline for some of the pieces stayed behind even after i clicked finish and complete. -.-

So I finally got the template to work for the Viking long house preset after the 18th try because it would stop at 85% and then I logged on this morning just for half of the building to be auto decayed😭

Things probably were not snapped correctly and single snapped structures have low decay timers

No, it's actually a windmill that you can place on a structure. -> generates electricity like a wind turbine. All built with the CKF mod.

No it's part of a mod I paid a buddy of me to create it. It's called "Farmers Heaven". But you have to install The Center to make the texture work (the mod was created before the maps become separated from the game as download)

You can “build” the template but don’t start the build process and you can run up to it and click Save Template as Item and then popcorn it out to a console player

It looks like the render is being culled due to occlusion. Dinos often sink into a floor as they animate breathing, so maybe the rendering engine thinks they are out of your character's sight so their render is culled, then redrawn as they come back above the floor. Maybe the culling algorithm needs to be checked.

Does this also happen when those dinos are on ground, not foundations or ceilings?

yes it happens everywhere including while flying. most of the time it is triggered after using the Tek Binoculars.

sadly ive had the same issue, if you walk up to the blue part, it'll say its decay timer. Mine took 3 days to decay but didnt go away it said 'it's decayed!! will disappear after next server reset' or something like that. So after 3 days itll go away after next restart.

Yeah I went into more nuclear option and asked AI if there's a command that would allow me to get rid of it xD
It said to use a command that when used, would destroy any structure in small radius around me which I was okay with it as there was nothing else around.
So I used it and it worked.
After like 2 hours I went into my home base and noticed it's gone along with my friends bases.

Had to do full server rollback which was day old so we lost day worth of progress xD and after rollbacky I have to deal with the blue parts again xD

I've had it as well, normally I can get it to keep going by adding an extra snap or two for it to work with. Not ideal but faster than rebuilding the whole thing over and over XD\
