I've not found wild-tames to be super-useful for combat but are handy for throwing stuff great distances....such as an anky to the next metal spot to mine. 😉

Not necessarily. You have to actually download the nitrado app on the xbox itself to rent the server. You can download the nitrado app on your phone or tablet to set it up. It's just easier to set up on a pc.

Well from nitrado since you're on xbox, it's 14$ a month for a 10 slot server, meaning 10 people can join at once. As for what you can do, change the loot drops, add dlc dino spawns, change some stuff that dinos drop, change player and dino level caps

I just got on the ark today and had my entire saved game wiped for nothing. 50 hours is basically thrown away because of a syncing issue with steam which has never been patched since 2016.
I've tried restarting back to an old file save, but now I can't even access my dinosaurs anymore. My character is back to lvl 1 basically all because of something I have no control over, it's aggravating to have to deal with this issue. This is a company!
How am I expected to pour hours into a new save if it might just wipe my data again?
Does anyone here know about going through this issue? Is there anything I can do in the future to prevent this?
All this effort because wild works refuses to act. I hope they do something in the future but time will tell I suppose.

Arti use the commands to give your dinos back. I know the command "givetome" gives you any tribe piece or dino.

I have two bred dinos, same parents, one male, one female. They have the exact same stats. But the male's level is 238 and the female came out at 215. No mutations on either. Shouldn't the levels be the same, unless I missed something?

Their movement speed stats are different, which causes them to be different levels. You just can’t visually the stat difference

So here's what's up. The parents don't have the same stats, when you breed there's a roughly 70% chance that the baby has the higher of the parents 2 comparative stats. This is done for all 7 stats.

Its actually 55% for the higher, 45% for the lower

So you can either have a baby that ends up stronger then the parents by a little bit or weaker.

So when people breed they often times will look for babies with the exact same stats.

That way they can track where their mutations went

And purge off colors or mutations in stats they don't like.

Okay I may have been thinking of this incorrectly then lol.
So I had tamed a few high levels. One male and three females. The male had the higher health, two of the females had the same high melee. So I bred that male with those two females. Figured it would double my chances at getting a baby with the high health and high melee.
I ended up with two female babies, one from each pair, that both had the high health and high melee. I figured this was my perfect F x2.
So I've been breeding the two pairs to get a male baby that matches either of the two females, in all the stats, not just the health and melee.
That's the one I just got, only his level is so much higher, than the parents and the one i considered my perfect F, so that's why I was confused.

2 folders and 1 file to be exact. The steam cache just has the mod folder (encrypted archives). The installed / decrypted version of the mod has the mod folder and the .mod file.

The guid change apparently is very important to the update process. Nobody could get the version that had the missing files...and if clients cannot get the updates, we would be in the exact same situation we were in when the original mod went offline....steam wanting to verify access to all mods before connecting. (even if we had manually copied the mod files)

if while trying to KO a giga and you do not apply more torpor for 60 seconds, their torpor resets completely and you have to restart taming process.
That is why its extremely challenging to KO a giga that is not in a trap. They start to flee at a certain point and it makes it very difficult to keep applying torpor consistently.
And once KO'd, you need to apply a LOT of narcs but I wait until they are 1/2 awake before applying them all at once. You will need to figure out how much is needed for the server you play on. But once you have the proper amounts of arrows and narcs needed, you will be golden. (and be sure to use traps to not waste materials)

Yes, torpor drops extremely fast after KO. Applying narc allows it to go back up slightly.

And yes, taming a giga on official PVP must be super difficult...anyone can come around and destroy the effectiveness of the tame...but effectiveness loss can be bred out iirc (I might be wrong about the breeding part)

I don't have access to a Ark client so I cannot test that yet but I just did a verification on the dedicated server and it did not grab anything new. Going to delete the steam cache as well as the mod folder/file and do another verification.

Does anybody else have an issue with some of the sounds for creatures like Amargasaurus or Dinopithecus where the game just goes mute for 2-3 seconds then sound resumes... it's like the game tries to play a sound and doesnt find it or the sound crashes for 2-3 seconds then all is good again... ?

I have not had that experience but I remember someone on my cluster having sound issues on Ragnarok near the green obi...the running water was a different kind of audio file and their specific audio driver had issues with it. Their fix was to delete that particular audio file from their game. I think the playback control for that audio type and their driver was broken so that it played the audio file over and over and over much faster than it should have and cause an audio failure. Maybe something similar is happening to you?

If you mean 'verifying' as in the equivalent to validating files on client, that's irrelevant to mod updates

With Ark Server Manager (ASM), we click the "Update / Verify" button. If there is a new version of the game, it downloads the update...if there is no update to the game itself, it validates what is installed. Either process will download mods at the end and since there is no update to the game version....it always kicks a validate process.

The validate is utterly not needed and I would avoid it if I could....but cannot. lol

If an upgrade/verify cycle in ASM doesn’t work to fix the mod mismatch, you will need to reinstall the SteamCMD and then reinstall the mod. You can easily do this by clicking the steam icon in the upper righthand corner of ASM.

There are not many wild gigas on a map at once. Most I've seen on Ragnarok are 3 iirc. Island maybe 2
Sometimes there are none and no gigas can spawn...in that case go on a killing spree to reduce the population of wild dinos and that gives gigas a chance to spawn. Same goes for any creature.

I have both Linux and Windows machines but the one I'm working on is Windows. The folders did not exist before...straight from the download creation...maybe the Steam install process sets all folders to lower...but then again, it would have on yours too.

My Linux server does not use a 3rd-party manager...just Steam, Ark and my management scripts....nothing to get in the way...and I can just download mod updates by themselves if I want.

For additional information on ASM (Windows server), I do have the "force mod download" so it always downloads the mod every time to local cache which usually helps avoid caching issues.

@placid sundial the rescue mod is working like a champ. The icon is missing but its actually more helpful to find them that way. However, we also have the Structures Plus mod so its easy to use the Transfer Tool with a preset to find all scrolls in every structure, every dino and place in your inventory or centralized box. 🙂

Go ahead and get alot of narcotics before you unlock tranq arrows. You need tons of narcoberries and rotten meat. Get the parasaur saddle ASAP to help with narcoberry gathering
