metal is unlocked at i think level 26 and they are leaps and bounds more efficient than stone

Definitely not grey. XD On official it's colors and boosted rates, but yeah, no chibis or skins or anything like the standard events. What's the dino spawn rate set at, 0.8 standard? And yeah, it does require a serverside update too.

Depends on the platform. If it's a "game won't run" issue, it tends to be on them generally, given most agreements most platforms seem to have. This would likely fall under that category, since the thing won't even play properly for you.

At the very least, they might be able to escalate it up to the proper channels. But that'd be the route I normally take first if I run into an issue like this with one of my games.

I had a thought today so dinos could be a viable defence for a base how useful would a defend area option be? Think of it as a radius that can be adjusted that they won't run out of and if possible they even return to the position that you set them in after the enemy goes out of range.

Well first off, the existance of auto turrets kind of makes that idea not very viable, secondly the Dino ai isn't good enough with path finding to effect a viable defense, third, the second you have a max limit for the Dino range, someone just sits outside that range and snipes the dino

With ranged weapons a thing, and turrets, it makes Dinos not viable for defending

Yeah so it would be great if as soon as they go out of range the dino returns to a preset location. So you could build a kennel for the dino that it runs back into.
Auto turrets in conjunction with dinos would be better than just auto turrets would it not? And yeah you would need some really great pathfinders to happen.

Well, the path finding isn't good enough for Dinos to go back

You can already basically do that, just have the Dino on follow to small tame, and box the small tame up with things on aggressive, but the pathfinding is messed up

Secondly, Dinos + turrets is bad, because of los. They lure the Dino into a position that blocks turret los, and then get a free base

Ideally in ark 2 there would be systems that make Dino defenses better and remove the need for turrets entirely, but that's not now Ark1 works

Challis don't agro if you keep your distance, you should be safe to get stuff back, but if not don't worry about it

If you want to build there then sure, if not, then just meander around murderising everythinf with a bow

The entire time I played on the island I found a total of 4. The first one immediately got killed as soon as it entered render distance, the other two I tamed and brought home, and the fourth I found immediately after finding and taming my Equus. Right besides another Equus.
