Cryopods on Lost Colony are beyond bugged. Trying to access a cryopod in any structure results in immediate blackscreen. Tested in cryofridge, tek rep, cyro hospital, large storage, vauly ect. Even tried to do it with a thrall. All results in the same. (Xbox Series X/S and PS5) PC seems not to be affected

Hello I lost my character on a dedicated server runned by me (last time I played I remember doing the cheat saveWorld and cheat DoExit) but when trying to log in again it is asking me to create a new character. I've tried creating the character and uploading to a new cluster to go back to the server my body has (no luck repossesing my character). I guess my only option is to create a new character, join the tribe, and use the commands to ascend .. is there also a command to unlock the "collect all the explorer notes for +10 levels"?

But it just crashed twice in less than twenty minutes. First time I was adjusting a dermis display. Second time I landed my wyvern at my base.

No, nothing else is acting weird. No other games does it either. And I've played several over the weekend. When it happens the game full freezes, nothing changes it. It then proceeds to black screen and will then prompt either the report or steam will reload. It normally is the report.

One crash was the cryopod related issue that got patched yesterday.

I've only had one PC crash / restart with it, that was like a week ago. Steam crash / restart has only happened a couple times. This all started a couple weeks ago but it was a crash or two a week. Not almost a dozen in three days. Nothing has changed other than regular patching / updates. It runs fine until it doesn't. Then it just tanks. Restarts fine as if there were never an issue.

And I don't consider a crash or two a week an issue, it happens. I'm used to ASA throwing fits from the early days when it was prone to crashing when optimization wasn't good. But this is excessive and interruptive.

no bug in the game is capable of shutting off your pc or crashing steam, just not how anything works

if it was 30 years ago, sure. modern software has too many layers of isolation and safety for that to happen. the only way a normal program can cause a system crash is through exploiting driver/OS bugs or running into very situational hardware failure

most people dont get system crashes running ark, regardless of hardware. because their computers are not broken. denial wont fix it

Legit the game is the main thing crashing. I gave a swath of details relative to what it is doing. Which includes one PC restart a week ago or more. And steam restarting a couple times over the last week or so. Most of the crashes have been just the game.

Yeah. Some of my members are having issues with our Center map. So when her ping hit 500, she panicked and uploaded her dinos. Even uploaded her aureliax that had an ascended saddle on it. Upload shouldn't even recognize companion mode enabled creatures. Seems like an easy safeguard, WildCard. 🫣

You're going to have to put a ticket in for that mess , I think wildcard devs are the only ones that would be able to restore your original player, or force your husbands ownership of the tribe.

I’ve reinstalled Ark, Validated game files, updated drivers, reinstalled the anti cheat (which fixed it for about a week) but after that it is still happening, I have ran games far heavier than Ark and have had no issue. My PC is in perfect condition, I own a 4090 and have temp gauges displayed nothing is overheating or causing the crash on my side of things from what I can understand, The code I’m receiving is this “Stop code: ATTEMPTED_WRITE_ TO_READONLY_MEMORY”

that is either very broken low-level software, or memory corruption from hardware issues. are you using a 13/14th gen intel CPU?

ark's anticheat is actually checking for memory integrity issues. most games just carry on unknowning until something goes fatally wrong

if you have one of those CPUs and never patched it with the vmin shift firmware fixes, yes, it is failing. and is failing in everything, most software just is not checking. plus ark tends to use the CPU a lot more than most games, especially older ones

vmin shift degradation issues started in spring 2024, and i still see several people a week with dying 14700ks and the like who only crash in ark, and it 'mysteriously' stops when they apply the patch and RMA the CPU

most of them died over the summer of 2024, though. if that is what you have, you are lucky it survived this long with only minor issues

very easy to check, just find the model number in task manager or system info

you will need hwinfo64 or similar third party software to check the BIOS/firmware version number and get an actually useful result

those are the worst-impacted along with the 14900k

update the BIOS immediately to something spring 2025 or later. initial fixes were august 2024, problems persisted after that. that may stabilize it enough to be usable, it wont undo damage

intel extended warranty coverage for impacted models, as well

basically, they were desperate to not be completely left behind by AMD and sold them clocked way too high, too much power draw, plus a nasty voltage control bug. they basically slowly tase themselves to death

what else are you running? unless you are running something using 8+ core heavy loads and doing memory corruption checks at the same time, you wont have noticed

there are a few tricks to check for it, but the earlier stage issues tend to not show up on normal memory testers, since the CPU only starts spewing nonsense under high load

Hey everyone — I’m looking for some guidance because I’m out of options at this point.

I was recently hit with a global ban + full dev wipe in ARK with zero warning, zero explanation, and no communication from Wildcard. I’ve got over 4,500 hours on my account.

The part that really stings is that my tribe and I were actively reporting a mesher on our server. We gave locations, timestamps, and details. Instead of getting help, my entire character and progress were wiped.

I appealed through the official system and only got a generic message saying the ban was for “traveling in the mesh.” No evidence, no clarification, no chance to explain anything.

I’ve never cheated, exploited, or meshed. I was literally reporting someone who was.

If anyone here has dealt with something similar or knows how to get a real review from Wildcard, I’d really appreciate any advice.

first time messing around with the gene scanner. Question: does the cold trait also apply to the Dragon's fire breath? if so, that could be huge for survivability on alpha dragon. obviously vampiric and kingslaying are good choices for fighting bosses, but cold seems like it could have a huge affect on the outcome of the dragon specifically if it works

There is no real logic with some of these flyers being able to dive while others can't is all I am saying, and would make them less tedious to fly where it makes sense. Why can a Snow Owl dive but an Argie cannot? The argie is just a slow pack mule, while the Snow Owl has magic Ice Powers on top of the Dive. Seems rather one sided as far as "perks" go

Yea I did the math a while ago and basically even for a giga raise on normal rates you only save like 1-2 imprints maximum it’s kinda laughable for a skill. Most tames it’ll make no difference whatsoever for total needed imprints

The Lost Colony dlc has many cool new features, not just the map. However I don't feel it as a necessity. Also I wouldn't have Astraeos if someone didn't gift it to me.

What are some ok strategies for attempting gamma rockwell? I haven't found an ascendant shotgun yet, but I do have a 700% ascendant fabricated sniper rifle and a 520% ascendant fabricated pistol, as well as ascendant riot gear.

I've seen some videos where people just bring a cosmo and glider and shoot it out, but was wondering if that is the only approach that will work nowadays. using a dino such as a rock drake doesn't seem like it will work

Disable upscaling, set it to native. I play in 4K and noticed a huge difference between quality upscaled and native actual resolution

Native should just be your actual resolution, I use an AMD card for me I can just select it. They have various upscalers but native should always be disabling them from how I understand it

For example quality is like 66% of your actual resolution and then it gets upscaled so that’s why even quality looks way less detailed
