In the top right corner of the inventory for engrams, there’s folders either selected/deselected that contain map specific engrams. You probably don’t have Scorched Earth engrams selected, so you can’t see the engram. Try selecting the folder and see if it pops up.

you can use foundations for foundation support but need patience to make sure its aligned correctly. np!

we’d love to bring some attention to the isolated ARK servers. Right now, they’re just… way too unbalanced.

By that we mean isolated tek tribes being able to completely lock down servers, combined with insane breeding lines and blueprint stacking. The original idea of isolated servers was supposed to be a place where beginners could actually play, but with the current balance, that just doesn’t happen. Joining an isolated server and competing against a top PvP tribe is basically impossible — and that’s both sad and unfair. Players should at least have the chance to challenge a top tribe. Rebalance PvP on isolated servers.

Disable tek (leave bosses, but no element farming — e.g., on server 515 iso it’s impossible to get artifacts since everything is blocked).

Disable breeding (there’s no point fighting against overbred stegos and dinos).

Disable cave building (restrict bases to outside areas).

What do you think about these ideas?

6600 was budget oriented more suitable to 1080 . 3070 can do 1440 decent but i playn1080 so its good. The 6600 just didnt have the oomf a 3070 does in terms of raw power.

give a 4090 8GB of VRAM and it'd be functionally equivelent to a 5060 TI 8GB

PCIe bandwidth does matter tho

the 9060 XT/non XT 8GB has double the lanes/bandwidth of a 5060 TI/non TI
so when you run out of VRAM the performance loss is way less bad on the 9060 than the 5060

sadly my CPU only has gen 3 PCIe
it wouldve probably been a ton better on gen 4 PCIe (gen 4 PCIe is double gen 3 bandwith)

However an 8gb card is still quite viable for most gaming as it is. Getting i to the whole technicalities will confuse the typical non computer person. Will it work for that person based on my own peersonal experience then yes. If he cannot afford higher or newer gen this is what matters. We could argue specs but i still stand by that for most gaming 8gb still is adequate inless you wanna push 4k. Even then a 5090 struggles on ark. Optimization of a game goes a long way as well. The short of it is. Yes his 3070ti will play it fine on medium based on me having a 3070 and a 5600x . Will he get amazing fantastix graphics . Nah but a fairly smooth minus server hitches and crap game code time then yes

What's the point of building a base if wild dinos can still spawn inside your base and kill your favorite dinos because the turrets built INSIDE YOUR F-ING base for this specific purpose don't see dino because it spawns in at the perfect angle to be covered by your favorite dino?

that is a sequence of freak accidents that does not normally occur. unless you just built a massive base without enough linked structure coverage to stop spawns

you need at least one building-like structure in a decent radius to stop spawns. not sure exactly how much, i have never tested it, 10-15 foundations?

I have a huge collection of pictures. Like
"2 dinos 1 tek tep" (Parasaur and Diplo both spawned inside tek rep)
"New tribe mate" (my tribemates 4x4 hut having Carbo on top of their bed)
"Diplo who?" (diplo rearranging dinos on my 2 story base roof)
"Sneaky visitor" (Theri spawning 60m from me while I'm online afk in base)
"Top dino delivry" (level 150 Patchy just wondering around the base for few days)
And many, many more. Wild dinos started to spawn inside bases every day since UE upgrade. I have turrets.. And still not enough if every base wall and corner is not covered with it's own turret.. on f-ing pve.

It's been how many months since UE upgrade...? Has it been not enough time to stop wild dinos from spawning inside the base 60m away while being rendered?
It's not even that the render is bugged and they bugg inside, they spawn ignoring all structures. You can see it in wild as well, dinos half spawned into a cliff not being able to move as half is in the mesh and half not

probably nothing to do with the engine change, since dino spawning has nothing to do with the engine. most likely it is some quirk of performance optimizations related to checking for structures or overall related to server tickrate, since it just does not happen on unofficial

if it is, it is probably easy to fix in a way that would cause worse problems

Since it has been happening. I make sure i pod up my dinos when offline. Nothing greater then logging in to wild rex or theri in your base saying hello to your dinos and a wall of red . The second logging in and carnage begins. I am sure wc is aware . It hasnt happened as much lately though.

I want to know if when replacing, the new character will replace my existing one as I am solo and the owner of the tribe. Just want to check because of how imprints work now. I can hatch a baby with a totally different character in another server and tribe, send it to my main and continue the imprint there. Let me also clarify that this is on Official PVE.

it will not. your tribe will be effectively broken permanently and everything in it will be lost

you need someone else to add your character to the tribe. think about what would happen if you could automatically force a character into a tribe

the antimesh is the defense. its just not perfect because if it covered everything then there would be more issues then that.
its always gonna be an active battle in a game like ark. just like aimbot is in first person shooters (even ark)

chances are the mods will make those useless anyway.

there is one thing you can try delete any custom cosmetics you have downloaded. it could be adding more to the memory issues since those also load when you open your inventory.

how bout covering everything...under the mesh? yeh maybe thats timeconsuming to get that coded...but i mean the antimeshconcept is already developed, and that its borders/walls well we all know that for a long time. cant be that hard to define a border that goes around caves, not pixel perfect or something. in most cases wouldnt even be needed if youd just double the layers of mesh where is only 1 yet

the cheats...well yeh you could use more serversided stuff because well...the thing is everything you change on serverside is detectable, but on clientside i can do everything. just more validation...speedhacks...ppl have to dismount because they would rubberband due to the servervalidation for example, more frequent - no speed

I've seen some people reinstall the game instead but thats not a fix worth doing unless its a temp fix.

if you have another drive, you can add a steam folder to it and steam should use that for patching. but it'll be slower. a lot slower if its a hard drive

I think you will be hurting with 16gb. This is just my opinion. I also ran the game at 1080-1440p 60fps with the same commands and medium settings with my 2070s on the same setup. When you say "gets stuck". To me, that's when Steam shows the disk usage go down to almost 0. I barely ever see this in other game's updates. That's why I think it's how WC patches the game. To me Steam is just a platform/service, it should not affected the way game files are written.

Apparently as part of the Unreal Engine there's an Online Subsystem Steam API..
the Steam module implements several of the interfaces being exposed by the Online Subsystem, supporting most of what is offered by the Steamworks Software Development Kit (SDK) (including External UI)

My map in the center is very bright at night even using console commands, it only ends up getting worse. I don't use GAMMA because it also gets worse. Those wild cards were no longer shown, it's always the same, they fix one thing and break 10 within the game, the Astreos map is currently unplayable on Xbox.

Most of us do. especially clouds/fog/grasssize. I ran it at 1080/60fps on a pc with a 3700x and 2070s. Granted I had 32gb of RAM. But that PC setup was pretty close to a Series X/PS5. Just a tad better.

There isn’t much of a reason at all to focus mutating melee on an argy in PvE, unless you’re restricted to the island. Argies only serve as utility in PvE for weight reductions with anky farming, so that’s the only stat you really want to level

Neither have weight reductions and both suck to farm with. Argies still fill the farm utility role better than they do

I don’t think it’s worth the time to mutate them though. Unless you’re using mods it just wastes time you could be spending on other creatures that benefit more from mutations

The last update put a on screen keyboard into the game if your on of using a controller why would I need a on screen keyboard it defaults the steam on get it off now it turns the built in Microsoft one as well

You can do it so that it turns off for one session but soon as you swap characters or servers the options don’t save

And you have to log completely out and back in for it to not pop up again
