Can they stop adding skins other players have and auto install it especially for PS5 players. I go play with my friend on official then when I go to my unofficial server I can't get on because I don't have enough space to update a mod on my server because I have like 20 skin mods that auto install from official. When you click o the mod it says install. Have to install to uninstall just to get on my server and the premium skins you can't install to uninstall because you would have to pay for them. It's so annoying

They should have it as like when to join a unofficial server with a list of mods/skins on that map. Why can't they give you the same option when joining official maps and give the players the option if they want it

I literally had to delete 2 mods on my server to install and delete 12 skin mods I didn't install myself by joining a official map and 3 of the skin mods I can't uninstall because they are premium skin mods. Then go back and reinstall my 2 mods on my server just so I can update 1 mod. Now the 12 skins I was able to uninstall gave me 1.15 gb space

Whats the difference between single player and running an unofficial server? like are there any limitations?

singleplayer has bugs that are unique to it. hibernation being the cause of most (things only load around you), non-dedi/splitscreen being the same but the added tether and multiple people make it worse.

unofficial/dedicated server have to be hosted on a second device/PC (there are differences between ASA and ASE, and different ASE platforms have differences)
overall a dedicated server will be the best experience since you won't have to worry about your client crashing causing issues and if its on a second device the game will usually run better.

hosting a dedicated server is the best. it is free as long as you have a PC that can handle it.
it takes setup tho including port-fowarding (or a program that goes around it)

non-dedi has connection issues when trying to join. afaik it won't have lag or anything after, the tether is the worst part about it (stuck near the host and will pull into certain situations)

Looking for some advice!

Playing Ark Extinction for the first time. Normally with other maps dino's spawn in when you go out of render range.

On Extinction Dino's are spawning directly in front of me out - almost like they have just teleported there.

I have lost count how many times I have scouted an area, found a Dino I want to tame, went in closer to it to gain its aggro and then a Wyvern spawns in 3 feet away from me and bursts me into flames.

Is this just a map glitch or is there any way to fix it? Seems highly unfair

Im sure this has possibly been asked a few or more times. Anyone else have issues or know about the issues of caves over spawning dinos? Is there a fix for this? Note: We have not messed with dino counts at all. Spawn rates are all vanilla. Our island caves are being over run by dinos, especially one in the snow. My dedicated private server does not ever have these issues. (personally built 30,000 is dollar on high end enterprise hardware (4ghz @ 96 cores dual AMD Epyc 9474F with 1536 GB of DDR5 ECC ram and 8x 3.84TB datacenter tier NVME drives in RAID10)

lots of possible reasons for that, but nearly all of them mean hardware failure

well, the game has zero control over the update process, it is done by steam the same way every other game is updated. either the drive is faulty or you have severe memory corruption that makes steam think it is, or is causing corrupt data to be written. there are some other far less likely causes, but they mostly boil down to severe issues causing corrupt data to be written by steam

it is a pretty weird issue, basically the game is running out of memory and it has slightly predictable behavior for what loads first or what gets yeeted or turned into a polygon potato. they probably just lowered overall memory use and adjusted settings to try to ensure stuff loads more evenly

the reason the map often gets blurry is because the map only loads when you open it, and you usually open it after the game runs out of memory for loading

UE does not really give fine control to do something like set a separate memory pool for UI or "essential" textures

It has to be mod related. My single player is running zero mods and no issues, my main cluster has 20 mods and it just crashes without the stack trace message. Only the no video error memory traces. a mod could in theory cause a massive memory leak, but it takes an insane amount of allocation to legitimately overwhelm 24GB VRAM + all your system RAM + pagefile, all of which acts as backup VRAM

some new features use significantly increased processing power on the server, plus UE5's stock netcode is frankly garbage and has inefficiencies and artificial throttles that make it scale poorly. completely fixing it would mean basically making a new game engine, which is so far out of scope it has no chance of happening. there will probably be changes to the netcode after the engine upgrade

Found a fix for players for modded servers. Uninstall all your mods. Let the server you are joining download the ones just for that sever and you should be able to get in your servers. Myself and many others found this a fix for modded servers.

to turn DL-FG off you have to replace FrameGenerationSystem=-1 with FrameGenerationSystem=0

Yes they'll raise fine on troughs of raw meat but they have an insane appetite. Once they get to adolescent it eases up though.

You can put stone in troughs but its a waste of time as it has barely any food value for them. Take it slow, raise a couple at a time, to begin with I only have them out when I'm at base hand feeding other babies (you don't have to handfeed gachas). Even once they hit juvie Idon't leave them for very long on the troughs. Any time I'm not going to be around I cryo them. Once they get to about 45% I'll leave them out but I have 8 troughs of meat and only a few babies on them at a time.

We run carts for our troughs on each cart we have generator or wind turbine plus eight fridges that feed the trough. We have one setup for each kind of. One for raw meat, one for fish and one for berries. Our troughs are tek so they hold one hundred stacks themselves. The carts do have a dino count cost but well worth it. I can’t remember what the count was off hand though.
