just start with stuff that has as high as possible base stats in the stats you want, and as low as possible in everything else if you are on official servers, since there is a total level cap of 450

Niceee I tamed a lvl 120 doedicurus and all it took was 2 regular kibble

This is the 2nd Dino I was able to tame at a high level, the first one was a pachy

All I had to do was snatch it with my argy and carry it to base, set up a taming pen, and that's it.

Now that I've done taming those 3 dinos (anky/doedi/casto) I was recommended, what should I go for next? Some came to mind like sabertooth, bary, basilo, thyla and rex. Bary so far sounds like the next useful Dino I need but I haven't found anything above lvl 24 yet

Dododex is really good, I use it all the time. Input your rates and it’ll tell you exactly how many tranqs/narcos/food/kibble you need and how long it’ll take

I did that too. Just one low lvl spino in a river. Killed that then followed up by killing all the fish. I got frustrated so I just tamed the highest lvl spino I could find which was a lvl 44 and used that one to massacre the fish constantly.

Never had this bug. Yesterday we did Alpha Rockwell with 7 people (dedicated server, no mods) and all of us got their character back after the cinematics : you get a screen with your character and a "download" button, then you choose your bed.

Awww yeahhh got a lvl 150 spino into a trap. Prime meat expired before that though rip. I made the mistake of forgetting my kibble though so should I head back for that or will it despawn? The trap is not far from where it spawned but it is some distance away

I had the thought in mind to tame a lvl 100 spino but I made the poor decision of not bringing the kibble I already crafted

So now I'm left with a decision, do I:
a) Try heading back to grab kibble in hopes that the spino won't despawn
or
b) tame it here and now with raw fish meat

Welp, good news and bad news. My spinos mated real quick and the female laid an egg very fast. Bad news, I panicked and noticed the egg was fertilized so incubated it inside of my newly built base. Went outside to relax for a bit only to notice the spinos didn't stop there and kept going till they made another egg. Incubated both inside my new base, did not expect them to grow extremely fast, had to destroy some parts of the new base to release them and now I have a pack of 4 spinos.

It took me a quick search after this whole mess to realize it could just be used for kibble. Bruh.

They don't advertise xp parties, they are generally set up and held by mega tribes for that mega tribe. But they were doing mass crafting of saddles for xp, if there was an option for them to precook carcha eggs, mass hatch them and kill them I'm sure would've.

If you know what the settings of the server you are on are, You can always go into a non-dedicated session and set the same settings and then test. As far as I can tell, most people here play PVE so you're not likely to get an answer. And this way you can also test how long it takes to break a metal or Tech wall for any types of Dino's that can do that?

Quality doesn't affect what the base drops give, it affects how much content is in them/how good the armor/saddles are. Tek saddles and armor are only given through bosses (or OSDs in the case of Extinction).

Raising the quality itself will never give you a tek saddle. You have to modify the drops, or have a mod that does so.

After the difficulty override, I'm getting better leveling when it comes to most dinos but barys are getting the short end of the stick and in terms of levels, the highest I can find is lvl 85

In terms of exposed ones anyways, the ones that are under the cover of swamp mangroves I have yet to uncover. I can try striding through the swamps on my spino though

Yup, that's why I tamed a spino. I was told to get something big and nasty like a spino or rex if I ever wanted to explore the swamps. I haven't stepped foot in there yet and I hope I won't have to on foot

should be fairly easy to just go in, either clear the area or find a spot to aggro it from, run it out to a trap

So should I go in there with an argy or spino? Spino can help clear the swamps and safely locate the bary but it'll take some time to get there from the base and I run the risk of killing it by accident. Argy is simple and straightforward in that I have to lure it out but finding it is trickier and I have to evade the kapros

The swamp is located on the eastern side of the island and from the looks of it, I think it has a higher concentration of kapros

Another neat find is a lvl 140 rex rather close to base. Is that worth taming?

Aww yeah, I got a bary now, a lvl 140, which, according to larkator, is the highest level bary there is. Was troublesome though, had to make sure a stego and 2 therizinos didn't kill it so I helped a bit and after taming it, got chased a little by another bary and maybe almost getting pounced by a kapro

Now then, should I get a rex? Out of curiosity, I peeked the locations of rexes and the highest lvl one, 140, is close to spawn.

with that low difficulty you will have it harder, since with a 150 dino, you get 74 bonus levels from taming
on a 80 you would only get 39
so you would "loose" out on a 35 level diference, and add on that levels from leveling up
so you yourself might have a bit easier time killing stuff, but the dino's will have less of a buffer and die easily because they have less hp/damae more then the wild ones

at 0,2 difficulty you would get level 30 dino's so only 14 bonus levels, wich is even less diference hence even harder

No, you don't have to download the creature mods. As of now, they are all in the base game. The gigantoraptor was originally just added as a mod to help make it a bit easier. As for the Ark Additions, you do not have to download the mods for:

Cerato
Xiphactinus

bit of a long story, but here we go. i headed to the volcano on pter for the first time in ASA, a lot was different than in ASE so I was kinda cautious. was mining metal and obs on that one side platform. i realized theres some crystal in the crater, so i dived in with pt. i saw a big green tail stick out, and so i attacked it thinking it was a sauropod like bronto/diplo.
big mistake.
it was a carcharo, a dino i've never actually seen in-game before. i was like oh crap and i went out of the crater back onto the side platform. my dumb head decided to try tranqing it to tame it, but i realized i was missing all my shots, so i took my simple pistol, my best weapon, keep that in mind, and shot the carch. unfortunately, while aiming I slipped into the lava crater. if it wasnt for the parachute i had in my last slot, I would've been screwed. i managed to hide in a little crevice and kept shooting it until I was out of ammo. then, I just barely managed to shoot it with a normal stone arrow, killing it. gawd damn i dodged death three times

I would 100% suggest if you have a PC and an xbox (or 2 PCs) to host a dedicated through the game instead of a non-dedicated, and play on the other device.

Anyone have any issues with suddenly being stuck in a refreshing inventory glitch? I transferred to scorched on our server and now I can’t access my inventory, tames inventories, drops, obs, vaults, etc. my screen starts flashing and a black box pops up saying refreshing inventory and continues till it errors out and resumes each time I try to open one of the above things. I have tried restarting my ps5, I have tried deleting my character and making a new one, I’ve tried deleting all mods and redownloading, I’ve tried uninstalling the entire game and reinstalling everything, we have even restarted the server and nothing is fixing it. Do you think Genesis 2 has completely ruined Ark: Survival Evolved? To me, it feels like the map stripped away everything that made the game fun – the grind, the progression, and the satisfaction of earning your way up. From the moment you spawn, you’re handed a Hex Suit, which is basically a Tek Suit. There’s no challenge anymore: you can fly, carry unlimited weight, and farm endless resources like metal and Element without any effort. It’s like skipping straight to the endgame without playing the actual game.

The loot drops on Genesis 2 make it even worse. High-tier Tek items like Tek Rifles, Tek Saddles, and Tek Turrets – which used to require hours of farming and grinding – are handed to you for free. Tek gear used to be valuable and rewarding, but now it feels completely worthless. It’s like inflation in the game: Tek is everywhere, so it’s not special anymore. Add to that the asteroid biome, where you can gather everything you need in massive quantities, and farming becomes laughably easy.

Playing Genesis 2 feels less like survival and more like a creative mode. There’s no struggle, no sense of accomplishment – just instant access to everything. It’s like when you install mods that give you unlimited resources and gear; sure, it’s fun for a while, but after that, you’re left wondering: What’s the point of playing anymore? I totally agree with you...
But there are many more things that destroyed the game balance much earlier... the high mutation count alone... way too high. (farming, boss fights, caves, etc. all a big joke and no real challenge). Now with ASA it's even easier to get those mutations in much less time.... in general, the dinos are not balanced at all...
the Giga (or other big dinos) you can simply throw out anywhere and anytime you are in “trouble”... In-game console commands that have a way too huge impact and benefical effects in almost every situation/area you play in .... and so on.
Not to mention the fact that we have so many times 2x rates active on official servers since the ASA release that make it even more less of a “grind”.
Each new map makes the game easier and easier with new dinos or more resources, etc... until it reaches its peak (gen2).

And if that's not easy enough, use an unofficial server where you can use mods and higher rates to remove the last “annoying” things in the game. 😉

Once you have a few dinos and a base, most things are no longer a problem anymore.

The only “survival factors” the game has left are: surviving the server lags when you are in caves and the game-breaking bugs and issues that often go unfixed. some of them several years old! (Crashes, disconnects, server lags, game freezes, game bugs where you get stucked (for example), ingame functions that dont work, deleted characters/dinos, etc... its a looong list. Sadly.

The moment they removed the ability to throw out the cryo everywhere i REALLY thought they were interested in "balance"...
now where they added it back into the game i ask myself why they dont give us back the movementspeed because: ark and balance??? CMON...

you can also use a crossbow and kite some mammoths into the water and shoot them safely

Idea for the game: When you go to an animals aggression there could be 2 ones called “Kill everything except” and “don’t kill anything except” and when you do that, a list of animals pop down like the gene scanner so if you have to do a take on foot your animal can protect you and not kill what you’re taming

Will the Queen Bee bug ever get fixed? Extremely tired of everytime the server restarts for an update all of them get wiped and either need to admin spawn them in around the map or do a complete dinowipe to maybe get a meager 1-2 to spawn across the entire map. How has this not been fixed yet? Every other creature is fine between restarts but queen bees get snapped each time. Lol.

Not to mention they even added in a new bug onto Aberration onto everything else wrong with that specific map like the lighting/shadows/etc issues. No creatures spawn at all in my SP or the server I help manage on the upper levels in Green zone at all, LOL. Just entirely devoid of life/spawns at all, so building bases there are just completelly rendered useless.

Idk how such a major issue is somehow missed before launch. Posted a bug report a bit ago, but just like other major bug reports I've seen I don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon or even at all because it's WC, lol.
