Dear Studio Wildcard-

It would be insanely helpful to server owners if you could settle on a consistent time of day for releasing and pushing out client and server patches. When you push out your updates randomly, clients (ala Steam et al) are forced to update before they can run the game, which then creates the situation where the servers they play on may not have updated yet because their daily update tasks won't fire for some hours yet. If you stuck to a consistent time of day, it would allow server owners to have a concise daily update window that would minimize disruption to users.

Yes, you can have multiple saves by copying all the relevant save files. You just have to manually switch between them. Is this a save on a server or single player?

For Ark: Suvival Evolved (ASE) the game will save many copies of your game over time. For Ark: Survival Ascended (ASA) you have a backup of the startup, an old backup and the current running game.

For Single Player you can just backup the entire Saved directory in ShooterGame. That will capture all your current maps and the transmitter data location.

If you stick to just one map and don't use Club Ark, you can copy the files in ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArksLocal/(name of the map)/ somewhere to create a different 'save'. Like a creative copy for testing building and your main regular copy for progression. You'll need your tribe files, your character profiles and the map backup to make a consistent backup.

Then you can swap out these files to switch saves.

Sadly ark has that stupid tethering on non-dedicated to the host, you can’t turn it off or circumvent it I’m afraid it really sucks.
Only way to not have this barrier is renting or hosting your own dedicated server, or playing on one hosted by someone else (unofficial, and official servers).

Ark has on top monopolized server renting to Nitrado, they really suck performance, money- and customer service wise.
If you have a bit of ram (16gb should probably do and a somewhat mediocre CPU) you can easily self host if there are only the two of you playing it’s usually the preferred option over renting for a lot of money from nitrado.
Official / unofficial is not an option for you at all ?

Yea the easy / free option was ruined by WC, bad tongues would call it an intentional decision to entice people to rent from Nitrado who they are partnering with somewhat, and whom they have given a monopoly on server rentals (and in return Nitrado has increased prices for servers a lot for Asa)
You can look up tutorials on Google or YouTube on how to host and setup your own dedicated server on your pc if you have one, that’s probably the best/only option if you don’t want to join someone else’s server or officials

We were talking about NON DEDICATED, and I was recommending twice to self host, instead of choosing shitrado. And that IS the only alternative to self hosting / non dedicated.
No other game has a tether like ark, and they don’t even offer an option to turn it off, you have to use a rather complicated way to bypass it (selfhost with steam CMD) so that’s what I was referring to when I said they ruined the free and easy option.

The backlash they recieved by nitrado exclusivity. There was a ton and nitrado overpricing servers making it not worth it for a few friends to play. If i remember it was a 16 slot server for about 40 dollars a month. They finally added a 6 slot server for not a great price . They also hid them making you have to go through hoops to find a friends selfhost server. So yes backlash was why. The tethering actually is not needed . They claim its a performance thing but it is not. If a server can do it so can a non dedicated.

Like I said it’s the only game that does that, and as you yourself just said if your pc is strong enough to selfhost and play, it would be able to disable a tether as well.
But WC doesn’t give that option to customers (disabling it at their own risk) you’re forced to self host or rent.
And again, not every gamer is as tech savvy and would be able to self host. Even if it seems trivial to you to resort to self hosting, it’s quite a bit of extra steps that are hypothetically redundant if WC allowed players the freedom of choice regarding the Tether.

depends on your resources, how much of a beating you expect to take before you can repair, and if you need to be protected from burst damage (ie, snipers)

then you can basically ignore armor entirely unless caving. if you are getting hit, you are doing something purposefully dumb

Game difficulty is usually a pretty easy to find and straight forward way. Set it to like .2 instead of 1 and all of the dinos will spawn at lower levels so not as dangerous. More than that you would need to edit the config files a little more.

b) are killed by larger predators that spawn in the pool (the bottom is built on)? (Defence doesn't help, because then a) is an issue - doesn't help if the defence dinos are teleported out...). This happens as soon as I leave the render range (or go offline).

The whole thing worked without any problems until recently. I raised large and small animals, bred them - and from now on. Now I can only raise water dinosaurs if I sit next to them 😭 It's really no fun any more 😦

Do a small metal trap provoke it, trap it wait for it to deaggro look for it's tail use a tribute from deathworm to tame it. You must place it on your last hotbar slot. Using ghillie and cactus broth while trying to tame will help you

There are options on graphics ro use as windows you also set it up to 800x600 for example until you get the desired size of windowed game
