You put narcoberries and spoiled meat into a mortar->craft narcotics (unlock it's engram ofc)->Craft tranq arrows using 1 arrow and 1 narcotics->shoot pteranodons head until it's asleep (preferably shoot every 3-4s after reload animation, tranq arrows still deal DMG), also use a bola, it's a life saver

I have 2 problems/questions about caves on The Island.

The cave with the Artefact of the Cunning. The water cave. We have the problem that you can't really get through it. For example, we take a base. Shortly afterwards, hordes of megalodons come - including many alphas, mantas, etc. Even with 48HP/50+DMG and good saddles, you get torn to pieces. There are videos of other players on YouTube - same problem. The problem doesn't seem to exist on official servers. What's different?

I've now noticed the same problem in the redwood cave on The Island. I had a pyro (base level ~230) and wanted to go in there. There were hordes of insects. As soon as I killed them all, they respawned straight away. After 3-4 minutes, I gave up because I couldn't move a meter forward... The creatures came from all sides. That's not normal, is it? I've already done the cave with Megatherium - I didn't have that many insects then - not by a long shot.

Workaround: Ask the admin for a dino reset and then quickly go to the artifact 😐 (really quickly, otherwise you'll be spawned!).

Workaround 2: you can probably block respawn in the caves. At least the Redwood cave - after clearing (with Megatherium), put down dodos or build beds... mhhhh.... can't be right 😉

if you go in with a large group of megs on a basi they can tear through the wild megs

yours get the same pack buff wild ones do, but tamed ones gain bleed

you also tend to get overspawn if theres a lack of people on the map

Well, the artifacts in the caves are for bosses that you can do from level 50(?). You should assume that you can also collect the artifacts in the level region (and the animals in this level region).

You only get full TEK once you have done bosses that you need these artifacts for 😉 So if you can't get through the cave because of massive overspawn, you won't get the TEK armor either.

One solution is of course to collect the artifacts in the center - it's easier ... Transferring artifacts is possible. But that's just not nice. Especially the Redwood - everyone is crying about the Pyro being P2W 😉 but then in the cave it goes off - you can't see anything on the screen because of all the damage reports (on both sides) - and it doesn't stop ...

If it's same as xbox u can hold the top 2 bumper buttons (top right and top left) to see the buttons for all the abilities. For xbox hold the top right bumper then push the right trigger (bottom triger) and it will pick up. But u need to have resin to carry items. Don't think u need resin for dinos.

If you do the destroywilddinos command that will kill wild Dino’s only. There is a destroydino command or something close to that, that would kill all Dino’s(wild and tamed).

No other problems, unless someone in your server is trying to ko a Dino and you do it as they are.

It's not possible to change the tether distance on non-dedicated, only when you have a server host via nitrado (for ASA) or to host your own

It's not changeable without wildcard themselves changing it. Old tether distance for ASE was around 180, new for ASA as of a recent'ish patch is around 800 so it's much better than before. Increasing tether distance increases the demand on your PC, so non-dedicated would make the game nigh unplayable without nasa level pc

Likely because Wyverns are a keystone creature in Scorched Earth and thus not being able to use them in the Manticore fight would be pretty upsetting. On the Island, there isn't really a native flying creature thats going to be able to fight the dragon anyway unless you just breed the most decked out, super mutated line of Argys ever, and even then you'd likely get smoked

I really want to get into this game but it's kind of overwhelming at the start on your own. I'm kind of getting comfortable but I had to use creative to build myself a safe space because even with dino spawns turned down without walls I was the island's new favorite snack.

I'm a ASE PvP veteran.
Something that many others probably agree with, is that ASA is worse than ASE, here some examples

Building system:
while the new building system adds many Quality of life Improvements, it adds many Quality of life Improvements.
for example you can no longer do double walling. or other fancy stuff with giant hatchframes(in the way they were in ASE) e.g. quetzal platforms, turrets on hatchframes, cryorooms. though now there are newer ways to do those things, to me they seem a lot more limited.
another example is removal of pipes and electrical cables, in my opinion those were a really cool game mechanic, and thier removal took away many possiblities such as turning off turrets by destroying the cables or outlets, or building your own water pipe from a water source to your base.
another thing i don't like is that there is only one item type for multiple structures, its kinda unrealistic to craft a structure and then be able to build multiple completly different ones, it also makes things harder because now you have to select structure in invetory or hotbar and then also swap the the type you'd like to place, instead of just selecting it once...

Player:
though its kinda funny, the characters can be WAY to small ... a character shouldn't be able to hold a pickaxe which is almost as tall as the character itself lol
also i don't like that you nolonger can increase the player movmentspeed with skill points, i hate it because youre so much slower in early game and because you since you cannot put points into movement speed, you put them in HP Weight and Fortitude, which while useful make the player fell more like a Fortified sand sack, when munched by PVE.

Performance:
ASA performance is Terrible, as probably many other upcomming games that use UE5 since its a "Next Generation Engine" which most used Hardware is not.
i barly get 50 FPS with lumen enabled and all other settings on low/medium on my RTX 3080 TI 1080p@144hz, and i get up to 100FPS with shadows and lumen disabled(also disabled Distance Field AO cuz it flickers on foliage) which his stil less FPS than in ASE on Epic Settings. Though the quality of Graphics are way better in ASA, graphics are not all, graphics don't need to be super realistic they just need to be pleasing to look and without interruptions(e.g. lags and flickering) a perfect example of that is Minecraft which allows for a huge amount of creativity with a seemingly limitated tool set and its own style of graphics.

Physical Map Removal:
In ASA you nolonger have a Physical map you Pull out and you can look around with, instead you have a UI that pops up which in my opnion is a huge step back and drastically decreases imersion.

here some numbers:
When looking at the Stream Charts "average player peak" 30.03.2024:
ASA - 19k
ASE - 33k

Why bring back the Official Ark Servers, if you can play on Unofficial Servers?
for me unoffical servers are just not the same, i its hard to explain since its mostly how i feel about it...
the best explanation i have is:

They are Official
since they are official much more players will play them, because its a central official place for players to play at.
also they are unmodded which for some takes a lot of the immersion away.
also its a place where you are guranteed to play a long time, there is no risk of servers beeing taken down or wiped(which right now sadly is the case).

Why bring back the Official Ark Servers?
My Answer is Nostalgia! Me and probably many other PvP Veterans favor ASE because we've spend so much time in it, thousands if not ten thousands of houres. And ASA will never be similar to it in so many Aspects.

Also the reason I'm writing this is that I'd love to play Arkpoc in ASE which i cannot because of ASA.

I know that the decision makers at Wildcard only care about money and not players ... you cannot make much money with servers you reopen after closing them.
unless...
you take money for running official servers such as a donation option or a subscription for playing on official servers. ( or be nice devs and make it for free lol )

also taking down some ASA servers to make place for ASE servers might be an idea, because many ASA servers have almost no players

I've an owner of a map/cluster for years (5 years for ase and since day 1 asa) and ive never had this issue

All of my players including me wake up on center and only center with wild dinos in our homes every....single....time....

Not little ones, theri, rex, Brontos stuck in it etx.

We have given out to members or placed turrets at all bases however they don't reach around corners and half the time the turrets won't fire at all because it has a shooting delay when you log on so pretty usless inside.

Is anyone else having these issues? If so is there a work around? Or a fix ?

so difficulty 10 not 1. the ingame slider is offset it stays at 1. level 300 dinos should mean mutations aren't required. especially if you get good saddles.

your "singleplayer" game is the "server". the platform just handles bootstrapping peer to peer connection

Single Player transfers of anything appear to be beyond bugged out right now (and have been for a few months since the launch of SE). I'm experiencing a similar issue along with the inability to actually spawn in my uploaded character. I always use an argi to pick up all their inventory, a therizino to gather wood and a mega for the berries and fiber. Don't forget to put all levels on delicate gathering for harvesting flowers and the wood gatherer with the best levels, they are both awesome dinos

Nope, maybe there's a structure that'a blocking it or you just need to restart. When oasisaur was released, I just don't bother build one anymore and just build on top of it without the need of greenhouse and fertilizer.

you can claim them after you tame or kill the parent. If you tame the parent and claim the baby, you can use the Gigantoraptor to raise the baby and get the same lvl on the babies as the parent has. For example, if you tame a 300 parent, at 100% taming effectiveness it will be lvl 449. Raise the baby with the Gigantoraptor and you can get the babies up to the same lvl!

Hey folks, we're doing a quick deployment in order to re-enable structure decay (with a forced timer reset) and to refresh Official servers before we go into the weekend with the event rates.
They said something about the rates in announcements.

I have trouble accepting that, during the past 5 weekends my game has run fine (apart from club ark) with 3x, compared to the past few days it run terribly.

Selling a location of a mesh hole since putting a ticket in Ark support gets it autosolved and I'm stuck in it. @heavy cedar @viral shore I can understand some holes but autosolving a paying player's request for help and at the same time report about a hole you can just fall in by walking over it.. At least ASE had some kind of support

Same here, and with how badly the game is running I’m too worried to even play very much. I want to go to scorched eventually but people dc all the time and don’t want to lose a bunch of stuff in transfer

Scorched is good, but it gets boring quickly. Understandable about the transfers 😔

I have my stuff on my, was my first spawn with the best wyv I own, armor, crossbow etc. At the same time I landed at the bottom of the hole and there's a clear opening that looks like mesh. I'm feeling that would be like 50 bucks for pvp? Can get there even without dinos or anything. Just need to know the correct place to step on to fall in

I'm just utterly pissed that my support ticket was auto closed. But hey, for my pain and suffering I can explore the mesh on official servers 😂
