generally for the purposes of surviving early on, a bit of extra HP helps if you're constantly getting attacked by dinos, a bit of fortitude helps to not be effected as bad by heat and cold

stamina is good for running and attacking with melee stuff

extra weight is always good because you're not always slowed down by carrying your basic gear

oxygen can usually wait for a while if at all

just depends on what you wanna play with

crafting skill is probably best left untouched until way later

it doesn't really become useful for a while and if you load a LOT of points into it

so most prefer to leave that at 0 and use a couple stat resets to max it out, build some high end gear, then stat reset back to normal

So should I still just go about thinking that I have just 104 points, since the likelihood of me using the extra points is not likely as I’ll prob start a new character once i beat the bosses, thereby loosing the extra levels?

if you go through the story maps, you'll at least get a few extra levels from the lowest difficulty ones. for now just bump hp stamina and weight to where you're comfortable

currently i'm sitting at 109 with 500hp, a few points in stamina, food, water, fortitude, oxygen, and now i'm 500+ on weight and plan on just pumping into that from now on

if you get tired of dying too easily, add a few more into hp, if you want to run longer and use hand tools for longer, stamina, if you feel you need to move more stuff around, weight

playing pvp smalls is almost pointless rn @viral shore @heavy cedar cheating is at the worst it has been in a long long time and these scorched servers have highlighted that so much. multiple servers where cheaters on alts are wiping whole server for main tribe to have easy run. there is nothing anyone can do. you are going to lost so many players if this isnt addressed and fixed. the game in this state is unplayble

i have a 7800, my buddy has a 7900xtx. optimization is required for smooth game play, however you can just run it on high with everything on (clouds and fog) and get like 30fps but the amount of crashes and frame drop will increase. i did some tuning and ended up getting like a constant 50fps without the clouds and fog on. i do get this weird stuttering for a little bit before and and after a sand storm though

go for SE first. If you get wyverns, manticore is not difficult to beat with a solid squad of 20 of those. On gamma it should be realistic to beat with no mutations.

the hardest ones that ive done so far were gen 1 and the island.

(i have only done the majority on gamma, something i plan on changing through ASA. But ive done the island on alpha. It SUCKED)
