It’s 2 babies at a time in terms of the bonding and feeding, that’s still really decent even though it means things would be really slow. Then again you’ll be using that bonding method on the best of the best anyways so why have more then 2 anyways?

And also, you could just get a good lvl pair of gigantoraptors and breed them up to make more gigantoraptors anyways so I don’t see the issue here

Maewings are in general better due to not requiring the babies to be in the pouch yes but these things aren’t meant to be as broken as them in that sense

And why would you need to raise 200 babies all at once in PvP? That doesn’t makes sense to me lol gigas take eons to grow and having more of them I can understand but if you want the best of the best you could just do the bond with about 5 gigas and then use another one to get some additional bonds and so on

Gigantoraptors btw with what I seen can have up to 5 bonds with infant Dino’s which gives the 10% damage reduction for the babies so if anything I’d say save the binding for gigas or some other tame you feel would be REALLY good

Like a mutation stack carcha or giga, give the bond to that and don’t waste it on random gigas you hatch up

That’s understandable but I don’t usually see 500 to 1000 gigas from the enemy tribe charging in and wiping a mega base. Usually there’s about 5 maybe 10 (20 if it’s a mega tribe which makes sense if it was a mega tribe having the large giga numbers due to more people on) if it’s just 4 people tho, I don’t see how someone would want that many gigas when they’re barely scraping by in pvp lol

That and I don’t see why you would use the gigantoraptor on a fresh non mutated giga, granted the 10% damage reduction is nice but I don’t get why someone would want to just have gigantoraptors around when a feeding trough works just as well lol. Granted the baby stage I understand but after that it’s just easier to leave it with a feeding trough or a maewing (If you’re on a modded PvP server with them enabled atleast)

In terms of the gigantoraptor I see it as a way to help a PvP tribe get the best stat giga/carchara with the feathers and once you get that perfect stats and breed up a few mutations then I can see them doing the bond thing but before that? No that’s a waste. Then again, most tribes don’t get up that high unless they’re mega so I guess it would be okay to do bond on the fresh perfect stat babies?

Yeah, it's a very niche dino when you think about how it would be used in Official PvP or PvE. It's interesting but, as a private server user I'm just going to grab it for the collection and it'll never see sunlight again.

I only know of some of it through a few videos and I was most keen on the feathers and as someone mentioned there could be a super rare feather that helps with getting a mutation but then again it’s likely just increase chances of the highest stat of the parents to carry over to help get the perfect set faster

That and it’s best to tame a high level set of gigantoraptors and then breed them up for mutations

That way you can easily be able to tame wild babies if desired

And also the fact if you use the gigantoraptor to take the babies the babies get the fricking tame lvl bonus like how we used to get with claiming a freshly hatched baby back in ASE when breeding was just added to the game

It was added in an update later on in arks early life, and later into the games life they fixed that weird additional lvl gaining glitch due to people stacking lvls over and over with that

Yeah you wasn’t around for when it was in its pc beta days, the Xbox beta was a fair bit ahead when they made it

The pc beta was really weird, the fabricator tier wasn’t fully a thing yet it was more primitive and the best thing in the game was Trexes

And it was in a time when the broodmother just spawned in the over world and not in a unique arena when you did the summoning for it

Also, looking into the gigantoraptors mechanics, the battle bond gives a free 30% imprint so if you can use gigas and carchas with this on official that’s actually not half bad. Then you can remove the bond with the gigantoraptor and repeated do it if a tribes crazy enough to mass breed gigas or carchas

Looked into what Alloparental pride does and (For the parent that has the bond with a Dino and said Dino kills something) it gives the parent at max a 50% damage boost, an experience boost (idk the max percentage of that is) and a 10% movement speed bonus while the adopted baby/bonded child gets the adopted love bonus which is a flat 10% damage reduction so it’s not a permanent damage reduction, it’s a unique thing if it has the bond and if the adopted child is killing something

I see this most useful in boss fights oddly enough, atleast 2 maybe 3-4 gigantoraptors with a group of megatherium and a yuty and I can see the broodmother getting shredded

This raptor definitely has a place in PvP but only for assisting with soaker defense boost

Oh! Alloparental fury is a separate thing, this gives the 10% speed boost unlike Alloparental pride but it activates when the bonded Dino dies

It is likely gigas and carchas can’t be put into the gigantoraptor’s pack due to maybe drag weight but it’s also likely as mentioned a lvl issue with those who tested it

I haven’t myself because I don’t own Asa I’m just getting this info from watching other people’s videos

Oh and while on the gigantoraptor you can check the babies imprint requirements and you can actually do the imprints while on the gigantoraptor for possibly a better imprint bonus like the procoptodon

I’m not fully sure with the imprint bonus part but you can check what the babies want in terms of an imprint and you can then do the imprint reset if you don’t have what the baby wants

I just realized the cryopods lost the ability to reroll imprint requests and they gave the ability to reroll the request to the gigantoraptor (I mostly realized the first part, I know they gave the gigantoraptors the reroll ability in general just not the cryopod thing)

I've seen spawn wipes only spawn 1-2 per map. They seem to be concerned in the lower right quadrant of the map. Highest leveled ones I've seen is a long the river on the north side above the redwoods. They do also seem to tend to spawn next to rivers, but I've also seen them in mid grasslands.

Dont trust the counter numbers, track the stats and dont imprint breeders to avoid missing mutations via stats. Or ascend and use the binoculars. Counter will show muts even if the muts dont carry over. And any mutations carried will get multipled if coming from both parents. Mom and dad each have one, baby will have two. Breed back to dad baby now has three.

Difficult to say without seeing them. Are you sure they are breeding with each other and it's not a different male in base on breeding? Were they actually tamed or were they imprinted wild babies? Wild babies can get mutations. When you get a mutation, you always get a colour change, but it might be an unused region or just a change to a wild colour anyway.

On a whole not really. Graphics and terrain are the big changes. Some things are tweaked like players having no speed stat anymore. Some quality of life changes like being able to pickup structures. Core mechanics of the game are mostly the same though. Some select mods on official you have to have to play official. Limited to the island for now. Other maps coming eventually.

Keep taming. Its 2x, great time to tame. Look for high level Argys. Breeding low levels will not readily get you high levels because you'd be relying on mutations to boost levels. And mutations can take 100s of eggs.

Based on what I've seen on our server its equivilent to a quarter or third of the map in terms of range of possible spawn spots. And they dont spawn in exactly the same spot twice very readily from what we've seen.

There ya go. Good place to find high level ones is around the volcano and the mountain just east of it or on carno island (north east island if you're unfamiliar. Volcano and its sister mountain (often called metal mountain) is north of the redwoods before you hit the snow.

Best method, since we cannot trap them now, is to drop your eggs, have a lookout / tribemade, and you jump in the nest as soon as parent gets to an egg, do the minigame then get out. rinse repeat.

Breeding Dino’s for stats can get addicting. It’s amazing what you can do, even before mutations. I have L254 Tapejaras, all natural. May mutate them if I get bored; Rexes, Theris, Barys, and Argies are most worth breeding and mutating imo. Bossing, Caving, and killing Alphas (Argies are mean alpha killers).

So you're supposed to distract the parent with eggs. While the parents away the baby should wander into the nest and see you, then play the mimic game. But from those on our server who have done it...they tend to bug. Lot of folks couldn't get the baby to mimic or would just get attacked regardless of parent distraction.

Anyone seeing active Gigaraptor spawns on official servers? My server had some earlier but we arent seeing respawns now.

@swift dagger I've seen spawns and came back 2 mins later and they've disappeared. Defs something going on there. Otherwise I've seen them a lot in the south side and along the shores of the west side of redwoods

can anyone help me out. so here is my issue every time i launch the game it crashes in the menu.. i cant even get to settings i played a bit after launch would crash after a few hours but now i cant even do anything. my pc is a 11700k 32gb ram 4080 and the game is on a 990 pro so the pc isnt the issue also like i said i could play after launch just wanted to play again and now i boot the game it gets to the menu and crashes i have also verified the game with steam already.. any help please

that is unusual, game crash usually displays a popup with a stacktrace. when exactly does it crash?

do i need to ride the borb in order for its inventory to act as a trough for saddled babies?

i ran around on it and did the hunting mini game, there was a timer that ticked down after but i could get it to go up even after killing things.

commands added to the steam launch parameters or the game shortcut, there are popular lists to "optimize" aka completely break the game. if you are not doing anything unusual, it is probably either a bug from the latest patch, or a system issue. worth reporting the bug with as much info as possible. you could also try deleting your config ini files from the game directory under shootergame/saved/config

in theory yes, but you would need some way to distract the parent without trapping

I have one trapped right next to the nest and I did the little moves 3 times and got it to 39.9% taming but it won’t do any more moves to tame it

It just walks in circles at 39%

Its because the parent cannot get to the nest. they patched the brids so traps wont work, babies must have parent back in the nest to feel secure.

Babies eating slow is the new normal. Its part of the eating changes they made. They wont eat for X amount of time and then will gobble down a bunch. Rinse repeat.

I would confirm the gigaraptor actual feeds. Ours arent grown yet so havent personally tried. Fish has the lowest food value. Its like 5 points verses raw meats 10 points. If your otters are born with a low food, health, and weight they will probably have to be force fed until they reach a certain percentage of growth to where their health and food arent so close.

And it sucks, dont get me wrong. Feeding babies now is a little more..involved because you don't know when they're going to take their five stacks and nuke em verses eating at a steady food drops by 10 points we eat game. Now its food drops by 40 points and we eat four pieces, etc. Less work for the game / server with lses processes but scary for baby raising.

No they don't, they aren't like maewings. They are nean't to be more like an imprint booster. They will feed two babies in the baskets whilst you ride it. The idea is that you can ride around and kill stuff to get the imprint boost and the babies won't starve whilst you do it.
