I have tried opening the console on her pc, and typing in EnableCheats <password> naturally replacing <password> with my admin password. what am I doing wrong?

UE5 is really resource intensive by design. it could be "optimized" for hardware as underpowered as the series S, by removing all the raytracing, complex landscape detail, ect.. may as well not use UE5 then. to put it in perspective, the series S is about as powerful as an xbox one and weaker than current low-end gaming laptops

Ya most UE5 games come out half baked cause the devs aren't given enough time to optimize. They just turn features on and don't bake them. Management just tells the devs "the players can use DLSS/frame gen. Just ship it" I don't think I've seen a single UE5 game that is actually optimized yet. Probably won't until 2 years from now. UE5 is too new. Not enough time has passed for people to make large games that are optimized

I do have a small primitive enclosure with a few dinos allready. Just 1 high thatch wall though. It seems this small hill near my starting area is frequented more often by such critters. Though the prime rex also ran down to the coast where i started at afterwards. Either way, walls are quite labor and resource intensive if i want to wall myself in entirely.

For me it was just to not have them wander off while allowing me to leave them to roam and not having to worry about feeding them, there are berries growing there. Also, lol, can do 1 msg every 10 minutes here. But then, it doesnt appear to be such a big issue anyways, food doesnt decay that quickly. Might want to make a proper enclosure with feeding throughs

So you’re playing solo? Anything above easy should give higher than L30.

If you’re on a sever you need to know what it’s set to.

Max level = DifficultyOffset (normally 1.0) x OverrideOfficialDifficulty x 30

So if OverrideOfficialDifficulty = 5 you’ll get a max wild dino of 150.

Walls should be your first priority if you're in an area with rexes and theris. ASA two high walls should keep most things out. If you're on a hill make the higher hillside walls taller. Foundations and structures suppress spawns so unless your enclosure is super big with nothing in the middle you are unlikely to have respawns inside your pen. Most things can damage thatch and wood so get into stone as fast as you can.

Well theres a mountaintop with cliffs near where i started, that would be a nice place to wall off, not many walls should be needed to wall of that mountain given its all cliffs around. Though i just noticed theres an alpha on the mountain so... might not be happening, dont think i can take on an alpha. But then theres an alpha on my starting beach, too so ill have to deal with one sooner or later.
Well, ill certainly upgrade from bow to crossbow before dealing with that though. got a bit over 200 arrows, should be enough assuming i can manage to hit half of them.

Are you in ASA or ASE? Also official, unofficial, which map? If you're on ASA official the island there are some areas you cannot build on mountaintops, caves, etc. Kind of varies. However if you think that cliff would be a good little spot try for it. If its an alpha raptor use a pike and dance with it. ASA's pathing allows you to move pretty well around them so you do not get hit as often.

Ahh. Well being in your own game you can adjust your settings very readily to help with the difficulty and resource gathering. Carbos (turtles) are really great little tanks. Prime meat doesnt stack. But it does if you cook it.

Software delivery rarely works like that. I’ve rolled out upgrades to a deadline set by advertising where it went right up to the wire and didn’t allow for any slip in delivery times. The deadlines are often not under the control of the troops on the ground.

Often the deadlines are set by managers somewhat removed from the process involved. The Ark devs may have told their project manager something would take 4 weeks comfortably to deliver, to then be told they had to deliver it in 2 weeks (for example, I’m basing this on my own experiences)

Every time they have to fix an exploit that needs a new release, it probably sets them back somewhat with code changes that need to be merged back in, testing to be done and then a release created.
