hm, personally i recommend (if its available) to get the custom dino levels mod because the island level spawns are skewed to low levels, so if you really want high levels then it could save 100's of hours

For one, it makes every other dino irrelevant. Unless you're breeding for bosses, you'd just use a mimic to do whatever it needs to do. The big point of a lot of tames is that they have a unique purpose in the game, usually harvesting a specific resource, or excelling in a certain area of combat mimic makes them all irrelevant

clearly its not a low fps if u notice locking to 50 makes it worse

yea, they are the best for starting out because the fiber they get you for making cloth hats to level up, the fact you can level prime meat collection to get tons of it for taming and kibble also helps

whatever you set your max XP curve to, subtract 30. 5 chibi levels, 15 ascension levels, 10 explorer note levels. so if you seet it to 150, that is why. you need 180 to make 150 be the max level before doing the other things.

It does give a boost to egglayers and you can have it auto pickup eggs so they wont be taken by other players and just more convenient when they lay egs. Put stone in so it is overweight and put near your dinos turn it to wanderjng . The more weight it has. The more range it gets for picking up eggs

yes, just pay attention to amount of XP per level, you need to ensure those additional 30 levels are harder to earn than the previous 149-150, so it 'curves' up. thats the tricky part lol.

it can be easier to use the tool to add 1 level at a time, ie if the last level took 150k xp, add 151 at 155k, then 152 at 160k, etc

if your goal is to not need ascensions, there are other ways to achieve that with mods to let people farm/craft things to auto unlock it w/o doing the boss.

If you're planning on mass breeding them though, I'd recommend doing what @azure fox mentions; hiding them under floors. Allows much easier tame management; not to mention avoids birthing/growing tames to not clip underneath the mesh. Also keep a roof ontop to avoid them flying out over the world (I managed to actually have some that despawned that way).

Been running an unofficial since the beginning. Even when I was on Shitrado, dealing with their trash service, I never wiped. Lots of troubleshooting their problems (looping restarts anyone?), until I moved to a dedicated box and left them behind. Game runs better than ever and I choose when to update, not the whim of some trash monopolizing company that randomly shuts down for updates without saving.

Unofficial just means a player is running the server, and they can install mods, adjust rates and such. Typically, it's for quality of life improvements (for example, additional types of building pieces/sets, new dinos, or other fun things people come up with.) I played official PVP on ARK: Survival Evolved the first year or more, and then moved to unofficials. Never looked back. The problem some people have with unofficials is they worry about the server shutting down one day, especially if it's rented from a hosting company (it means spending money every month). But on a dedicated box (like I use) it doesn't cost anything monthly. The server is actually owned and can run multiple game servers easily (like when more maps come out we will be clustering multiple maps together so people can travel between them). So I understand why some people choose official over unofficial, especially if new to ARK.

Wildcard made an agreement with Nitrado so that Nitrado is the only server hosting service allowed to sell hosting for ASA. I suspect Wildcard gets a decent percentage of all revenue coming in for ASA server hosting. For most people, Nitrado is their only resource for an unofficial server they want to run. For the rest, a dedicated server (which contributes no money to Nitrado or Wildcard). And Nitrado has been terrible as a hosting provider, and continue to have the same corruption/restart looping problems reported over and over again in their Discord.

So then Wildcard gave Nitrado another advantage a month or so ago, by introducing a new Show Player Servers checkbox for Unofficials. By default, only Nitrado servers display. You have to check the new box and search again to get non-Nitrado/dedicated servers. This means the majority of new players will feed into officials and Nitrado run unofficials. Shady moves for a company that succeeded on the backs of the mod community and hosting providers with ASE.

As for clustering, I wouldn't be surprised if Nitrado somehow gets access to it first. And they could shut out non-Nitrado servers if they really wanted to, but I doubt they will. For Nitrado customers to cluster servers, they have to pay duplicate server fees for every additional map they want to run in the cluster. Dedicated server owners don't. They just create a new game server on the box with a different map. You never know. Wildcard has been more shady with ASA than they were with ASE.
