If you turn enough things off via settings and (especially) console commands, you can get an unstable 60fps on either console. Outside of an easy 10-15fps from volumetric clouds, though, the compromises start adding up pretty fast.

It's a crappy bug but it has workarounds. If you destroywilddinos and wait a few seconds before saving, it'll work; you can also lower the spawn multiplier for now until they fix it and it'll avoid the problem longer term.

As for how it shows up in the log, it's because it's a different, much smaller file that's saved separately and not necessarily synchronized to the much bigger .ark save file.

You can host a dedicated server yourself for free if you have a PC around with 16+ GB of RAM; doesn't need a good GPU and the CPU doesn't need to be amazing, either. There's a stickied video in the #unofficial-setup-help channel about it.

I know, you connect to the server from PS (or Xbox, or Steam, or Windows PC) — you don't need the game client on the device you're using as a server. If you don't have access to a PC that can run the server, the only other options for no tether distance are an official server, someone else's unofficial, or renting one

I usually play solo - the last time I played ark was when it FIRST came out and was really a resource gatherer, not a builder nor a tamer. Do you recommend trying herb island? If so, how many trank arrows per level (if any such guide exists) i.e., want to know how much berries and meat to spoil to make enough to put one down

herbi island is the easiest place to tame ankys. they're slow so literally all you have to do is shoot and run around them in a circle

I just got done playing a 4 hr session of Ark. I went to go play Subnautica instead. I’ve never had any issues with Subnautica and for some reason I just got the same audio glitch that you get in ASA after saving my game. I was super confused.

I still have the issue where returning to a populated area (especially on a flying mount) greys out your bar and won't let you interact with anything until you log out and back in. I can watch it happen while flying back to base about where the draw range threshold hits. If I forget to check and dismount I can't even mount again until logging out. (None of the possible workarounds work like middle click, radial menu clicks, etc.) Any news on this problem?

If you're on ps5, the fix for not being able to connect is in the next certification they're waiting for Sony to approve. That's already been fixed on PC and Xbox (they say).. I agree with the sentiment in general they need to fix bugs instead of putting up new servers.. I think after looking through the bug log, there are so many quality of life issues reported that they could fix and it would go a long way with the player base, still can't whistle all to 'attack my target' with the keybind, it puts them on aggressive instead. But I saw in the last update that they fixed the word attack as it was spelled 'ATTACL' in the keybind section
