Its also supposed to act as a new building ground. They promised a lot of features, remodels, new animations, new mechanics, and we didnt get or see any of that. Im suprised more people arent worried over the fact promised featuees weren't added or shown off, less over the release date again being lied about. I dont typically care dor delays, but it is fair for console players to be upset that, once again, even after saying it wont happen, PC players get a headstart. Wildcard keeps saying and promising with no delivery.

There are pros and cons to a console; pros are that you know your hardware configuration is sufficient for whatever game releases on it, and a game won't release without at least a bare minimum of QA and certification done by the platform owner.

Cons are that any update containing new actual executable code must be certified by the platform owner, and you're at their mercy for when that finishes. Whereas on PC you can push an update to Steam et al whenever the whim strikes you.

Once you have cross-play live you sort of are constrained by the speed of console cert -- witness how Warframe's PC patch cycle has become considerably more sparse and slow since cross-play was introduced, since PC and console folks have to be on the same version of the game -- but when you're doing the actual initial launch, "the PC folks and the console folks won't be on the same version" isn't really a consideration.

The fact that the cert build was only just submitted recently to the consoles means that they're probably still waiting on Sony, Microsoft, et al to finish the certification process. At which point you either hold back the PC release until all the consoles have finished cert (sometime in November, apparently) or release PC separately ahead of the console certification being done.

So, I mean... obviously take with a grain of salt since I don't work at Studio WildCard, but "console certification simply isn't done so they can't push the 'go live' button on consoles" seems to me the likely reason for the console delay.

(And since supposedly they had to release something by end of October under the terms for some of the financing, one assumes that delaying PC into November wasn't really a viable option.)
