It depends on the setting of the game. In ark it would be really dark unless u were near lights. Without street lights in cities it would be really dark. My town doesn't have street lights and it's hard to see at night

Shouldn’t need one to kill something that gives mutton or raw prime typically. Whales beach themselves frequently and you can spear them to death or use a gun for a quicker kill if you don’t have a carnivore to work with.
Sheep are easy. Throw a bola at their legs, slaughter & harvest.

Also, yes, pickaxe is best for meat. Axe best for hide.

I'm on PC and consider myself fairly veteran - usually I play games like Fallout New Vegas on hardcore and am interested in modded servers which add immersive and QoL mods and keep damage and exp rates close to vanilla

Determining the worth of the experience really rests on you honestly, on one hand a singleplayer experience can be just as fun as if you were on a server but it really depends on what you need to get out of the game. Socialization is something I think most human beings desire on some level. Personally, I'd wait till ASA comes out and start then though, but that's just because of how large the installation of all maps for the current version of Ark has become, it's extremely annoying.

Word of warning for PvP in Ark tho, it's the most expoited, unbalanced and generally broken pvp I think I've ever seen in a game, just know that going in. Unofficial servers you have to deal with corrupt admins / owners, cheaters, just as much as you have to deal with them in official. I used to play on pvp servers back in the day, wouldn't wish that on anyone lol.

I would assume, with Vanilla mutations and breeding, keep it going, the Mutations have a small chance to show up, and chances are you won't have another Mutation, though you will have more xp.

The key to defeating many of the bosses in Ark, especially when using the non-traditional dinos, is to assign them to groups, when the Manticore hits the air, the best thing you can do is to whistle them to you, put them on passive, and wait for it to land, then send them back in, otherwise the manticore seems to stay in the air indefinitely sometimes.

I believe this is a pathing issue honestly, I think what the manticore is doing is trying to find a new pathway to land, however, if the raid dinos are following it, they tend to run after it and stay underneath it. So, every time that thing tries to land it can't because there's things in the way, which is probably why that trick works.

Both are good, you need the tekgram for both. Federation armor is like hide though, it only has 25 armor and that's it. Tek itself has actual armor.

for gamma, try for 20k hp and 700% md, beta shoot for 25k and 900%, alpha go for 30k and at the very least 1000%

but a big factor is the saddle too. you can get through gamma and maybe beta with basic saddles, but alpha is a whole other beast
