The settings file may get corrupted at certain points. Just deleting the gameusersettings.ini and verify should fix. However, the specs are low-mid end most. Gpu fine but cpu is gonna be a bottleneck.

You use tek dedicated boxes to extract the amount you need and then Take it all with LB( Xbox) and use a tek pants/ gen2 tek trouser to go to trans with poly in inventory and one or two good argy with weight in cryo in hotbar. Then travel server and put the stuff in argy and fly to traders base

Why did wildcard choose not to give any kind of perk/consolation to long time official players who would inevitably lose all their hard work? Some good examples off the top of my head:

1. a few months after release (to allow people to catch up) Let long term players download their old characters with all skins
2. allow players to upload a finite number of their best/favorite tames to the cloud to allow download (again after a few months of play for others to enjoy before mass breeding creatures)
3. Let players keep their implants/tekgrams (for when they get to endgame again)
4. Let ark 1 players have access to a version of HLNA similar to Genesis, with a new way of earning hex points, so the re-grind isn't so terrible.

Why? because they've shown on multiple occasions that only the money and discourse that generates them clicks matters.

Also where's the information on official server downloads when August rolls around. Is it a free for all download that will crash or corrupt when everyone rushes to download their hard work? I remember the "great migration" and the time people had to upload their stuff combined with upload limits... lots of people never got out in time.

1. Players can download their characters once the second set of DLC maps releases, this gives plenty of time for players to reach ascension.
2. Dinos uploaded from ARK 1 will retain color combinations but be capped at level 150 (160) equivalent of their stats.
3. like your point, see #1's edit.
4. Not sure I agree with you on this one, as many advanced farming methods will require more than just what the island and SE will have to offer. As a very minor bonus for ark1 longtime players, getting a few hex points per challenge/achievement via that system would be a nice gesture.

Everione moans about Single player, but while its indeed not perfect, you can set it up to run how you like it. You can set the rates that you like, make so you can pick up stuff, add some modds if you want, raise wild dino level and more. All while making the game a challenge. Needs a bit research to see how to set it all, but worth the research in my book. No dealing with toxic people. No decay timer. No fearing the server will go down or wipe.
Time stops when you are not running the game, so you cant like raise dinos/smelt metal overnight (unless you keep your game running while you sleep), drops and artifact sometime need more time to re-spown, especialy if your not in render, but its not as bad as having like, people kite wild dinos on your stuff and all the jazz..

Gen2 is really easy to start on, but officials crash a lot. Even moreso during Evo events. Since there's one going now and the 2-3 week easter one is coming, I wouldn't recommend that. It really comes down to preference and how fast you plan on progressing. If you want to get to tek level fast and start building/using tek. I suggest Fjordur or Extinction for easy element farming. Gen1 also has a lot of element, but there's so much restriction there I don't enjoy it all that much. If you're not planning on going past metal tier There's more choice. I like Rag and Lost Island alot. Valguero also has a lot of charm for the right player.

To be honest I can kinda understand the devs need money and may be in a rough spot now so the thing about ascendant and ark2 for 50$ seems fair but going this way about things makes the whole thing of preordering ark2 feel more like a ripoff than an support to the devs for art that we all loved so far.
Just tell the people that you guys need money to deliver ark2 in the way you would like to and dont make people buy all dlc's on ascendant again that they already paid for or atleast give it to them for a greatly reduced price or something. Since you didnt had much to show at the moment it is a huge risk for the buyers, which probably arent fond of the way this purchase is kinda forced upon them. It just feels like a huge disrespect and like the ark kinda goes in the direction of EA, which is dying because they concentrated 95% on milking the cashcows and maybe 5% on their games.

It's hard for me to tell you one map or another. It's very preference based. But Gen2 and the newer free dlcs since then have the most variety of dinos. That's Fjordur or Lost Island. Of those 2 I would personally choose Fjordur. But that ones kinda a hard start because every area is freezing cold all the time. Except volcano island which is highly dangerous.

I've been struggling to find out about difficulty vs difficulty offset. the wiki lacks clarity on if offset is a command or setting. I cant find anything on the wiki about it being a command, and I cant see it in my general or advanced settings when i go to host\local. from what I understand, I want to keep "difficulty level" in my general settings at 1, and change the difficulty offset to 30 so that wild dinos can spawn up to level 300 on my The Island singleplayer world. The in-game difficulty slider controls the offset, offset can’t go above 1, maps have a default overrideofficialdifficulty level of either 4 or 5, if you want level 300s you’ll have to either edit the override difficulty in the ini files or use an admin command every time you log into a map

i used rex my first time through. after that i've been more into theriz and ab megs

i had a kickass team of KBD tek trikes at one point

but turns out trikes have a bug where they can get stuck in their charge buildup until someone hops on them to get them out

it happens if their charge target dies before they finish the buildup animation

it was a great team but i didn't want 3-4 trikes getting stuck every fight

rhinos are defo one of the best strats for many bosses, if you have the people, the charge dmg and mobility / not getting hit really is huge

Is it just being remastered to be more, for lack of better words, up-to-date with the technology that's now available? I read the community post and understood that it was going to be QOL improvements, mostly, but that's all I really understood and just want to see if I missed something or if that's really all that ASA is meant to be.

Its basically just an engine upgrade with some minor tweaks. There will be probably some technical/mechanical differences to it being on a different engine.
Some exploits might not work anymore and some new ones might get introduced.
With exploits I mean also those that are considered being part of the game (i.e. jumping off your dino before landing from a bigger fall to avoid falldamage)

Here is my question. Will we be able to use our save backup and just rehost ARK ASA from loading the save data. I think this should be a thing. I know it's 2 different infrastructure but atleast allow us to load the save backup so people who host can migrate and bring their community without losing or restarting over.

Apparently it’s not possible as of now, but from what people wrote that developed UE (Epic) it should technically be possible due to backwards compatibility of UE5
But according to the devs, at least at the moment, we won’t have that option. ASA and ASE will be totally separate.
However it seems like it’s somewhat possible, maybe it just takes a a lot of time to make work so maybe WC will find a work around eventually

We don't know at this point, but I think it is highly likely. Cryopods help just as much with server performance as player QoL. I'd be really surprised if they left those out until Extinction again.

My guy friends both got rdr2, so I bought it and played that one for a while. I liked it a lot more than gta5 but wished they added just as much.
I think I liked it mostly because there seemed to be less active modders. But at the same time, it’s probably because it’s basically an abandoned game.
They got bored with the game so I came back to ark to color and build lol.

They're not as common as a lot of people like to make believe but if you can squeeze a sloth or something into the swamp cave you should be able to slaughter a lot of leeches

If you're on any of the first 4 story maps, the level distribution is bugged. You'll need to add in a config or a mod to fix it. Your max level will be 180, but your level distribution is still going to be mainly low levels.
