I don't use a longneck for killing things so I don't know what its damage is offhand. It's something you can test, damage augments are cheap and it doesn't take a lot to cap it out

Very good fab snipers are a close second- I've taken to carrying one as my main weapon on this sp playthrough

Trades off a lot of damage potential but range+shorter reload time has balanced it out

like if its a wooden fence foundation, can someone just go destroy the fence foundation and have the wall collapse?

And higher quality materials take longer to smash, plus can be damaged by less sources

So like. Question of my own: How much do the tracks in a gen1 hunt mission actually matter?

Like, as in collecting the tracks themselves. Are they part of scoring on servers or something? Is there anything stopping someone who knows all the spawn points from ignoring following the tracks entirely to rush to each of the brute's spawn points?

I have noticed that the brute always spawns well before you run out of tracks to get to the next encounter

It's very obvious in ocean hunts but happens in land hunts too

Not sure if I really understood your question, but “collecting” a minimum amount of tracks is absolutely necessary for the brute to spawn.
Typically the brute (and it’s minions) will spawn like twice before you finally kill it, and you need to have a certain amount of tracks “collected” to initiate each spawn. If you don’t have enough, the spawn area will remain empty until you collected the required amount.
I had to back track some of the hunts before as Brutes didn’t spawn (I missed like 4 or so tracks) so it’s a really vital part of the hunt

Especially on Alpha difficulty you will have to get almost all the tracks as well even, like I had one or two missing before and the boss didn’t spawn because of it ^^
It’s pretty tedious, works best at night and with reduced ground mesh etc for better visibility of tracks

It becomes easier, actually. Getting a good tame is a little more challenging yes, but once you have one you're pretty much set

Completing the Island is something most recommend, and knowing the map a little will help you a little bit. If you don't feel like playing that map though, Scorched Earth is next in line, and the easiest in my opinion. I don't recommend jumping from map to map unless that's really how you want to play, because it takes away the beauty and challenge of most of the Arks.

Non dedicated sessions, you can start one from your single player menu. They aren't the best though
