The servers aren't actually down, the problem is there's a connection issue between Epic Online Services and the impacted ARK servers. So, if you're playing on them right now, don't leave, you may not be able to rejoin. EOS is used for online matchmaking. You can keep an eye on your ARK server's state on websites such as arkstatus or battlemetrics, although arkstatus is near real-time and more informative 😉
