most of them are underexposed, and the background is a little messy. try giving yourself a wider area to work with, especially with cropping, so shoot wider if possible. also for those head on shots, try get lower to the ground of accentuate the car better

Unless you’re taking photos of cars actually on track or have access to the actual garages it’s just not going to happen

And having access to the garages at events like this I’d assume generally needs Motorsport media accreditation which at the moment isn’t very easy to get

You’re pretty limited where you can go without having media access too, marked all the ones I know you can at least get to similar points without it, 3rd one maybe but I’m not sure if you can or not

Yes there’s a hill around some of it, but I know from experience that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to stop the car from coming up

You’re allowed to go the whole way around the track there as long as you stay on the outside of it

Doesn’t sound like a bad thing… until you realize where exactly this means you are actually allowed to go as media 😭

Red dots are where I normally go, but you can go and stand on the grass on that last long corner before the straight on the right

And it’s just flat at the same level as the track, with nothing at all between you and the cars

Meremere, there’s a few grip events there but it’s mostly drifting, also a lot more sorta “grassroots” level so you see a lot different cars from Hampton downs, less requirements to actually get out on track too so half the cars feel like they’re about to fall apart 😭

The cpl on there at the time was one I found on temu for like $15, which sounds a lot better to me than like $70 for any other one that actually is the right size for the lens. I got a days use out of it before managing to drop entire camera bag causing it to crack. So I now have a cpl that works more like one of those star filters than a cpl
