I thought for a moment “it’d be kinda funny for an Ogryn to fall to Tzeench”, and then immediately after realized that’s all the motivation the changer of ways would really need. Of for sure, and honestly my favorite champions of Tzeench are the ones who are not actually wizards. Just a bunch of weirdos with some funny gimmick. Favorite was Aekold Hellbrass from Warhammer fantasy, who just made flowers bloom and sparked dragonflies and stuff to life by just standing there. A Tzeench ogryn can be super fun.

Got a quick and simple sketch of Leonatos, the Blood angel librarian I played in a Deathwatch campaign a long while ago. Most blood angels are pretty handsome and with golden locks, but he was also a wizard, so he's bald instead. Can't have everything.
He is pretty chill all things considered, except when the fighting starts and he sees blood flying, then more than once his radio automatically cut out as not to flood comms with enraged incoherent screaming. Sometimes he shoots lightning, as a treat.
Finally, when he pushes his powers a little too far, inanimate objects around him start bleeding, starting from his own armor.

Started working on some Alternate Universe Chaos versions of my boys. It's sure to take me a while with my current free time, But it is a fun thing to get creative with. First off, of course, my boy Preach, in an even more edgy form than normal, along with direct references to his original Only War Campaign for old times' sake:

The Iconoclast: Having survived his desperate attack against a Dark Disciple, Preach woke up to find his faith in the God Emperor definitely shattered. When one night he was approached by the heretek Khimaira and discreetly offered a place among the heretic legions, he understood that would be just another set of chains. Yet, his rage was such that, even after being warned that a bomb would detonate within the Mastiff's base if Khimaira was killed, he attacked anyway, damning everyone and everything in the name of hatred.
The entire base was destroyed and most of the Mastiffs of Vekhna present, including Commander Commissar Schrodinger (in your face @topaz vault), were killed, with only Preach miraculously rising from the rubble, although horrifically scarred. His mechanical arms had been replaced by wretched demonic limbs as the first gift from the dark patron he had unwittingly pleased with his actions.
Escaping from the warring planet after a terrible slaughter against both loyalists and traitors Preach, now simply known as the Iconoclast, eventually found a new place as a sheperd among the human cults that fight alongside the Chaos Space Marine Warband of the Sons of Malice, those wretched traitor astartes worshipping the one Chaos God whose final aim is the destruction of all others in an act of pure, self-destructive Chaos.

I do love when psykers have custom-tailored powers / side-effects. My blood angel librarian Leonatos would make blood seep out of objects around him. Spook simply but effectively causes her telepathy to become more and more sensitive to the point of overload. It's a good way to create a bit of creepyness to it while also creating some actual, ever useful character depth.

The Ghibellian sect of the Mechanical order is just a bit more practical than the main cult of mars, just enough that the cult of mars kinda hates their guts, but Aliexandra is still absolutely religious, just more in practice than in rites.
When they first met as emergency commanding officer and armory supervisor, Pol and Aliexandra actually ended up in an awful fight because she critiqued every single distribution of use and weaponry in those first days of emergency and Pol, as may have been noticed, kinda has an inferiority complex that doesn't work well with that.

I can also rant about the darktides Kantreal Lasguns animations being worse after launch, (maghold animations are ugly to me) the previous set for the Kantreal were better as it had style, also for rendering armor I recommend using overlays to brighten them up level by level. first overlay layer should be a mid grey tone, second overlay should be 75% orangish light with 50% opacity and last layer should be saturation with full Whites you'll need to blend

for shadows I use hard light as it blends well with colors, (I prefer using blue for shading as shadows IRL are blueish and when I finish drawings I do a orange wash to give them warm contrast over the shadows)

My shading work always ends up having like 5 layers at the end, shadows, mid light, warm colors, highlight, whitelight, (hard light, overlay, overlay, overlay, saturation) sometimes I use softlight for warm contrast

this is not mentioning the lineart and colors which can have 3-4 layers on top as I separate armor bits by layers so at the end a character can have 12-14 layers dedicated to it then double or triple it with other characters and backgrounds you end up seeing 30 layers in one of my drawings. (tip always name your layers, also group layers)

softlight i like to use for blush, face certain face colortions , also same i use the group folder feature alot so i can keep together characters and their layers for much larger pieces such as this one which has nearing 50layers (took a while to export just this wip holy shit )

Continuing with my Alternate Universe versions of my characters, the next one is my clownish psyker, The Kid, still taking inspiration from the character's original backstory. The other guys are a bit more challenging, so they require a bit more thought, but until then...

The Jesterthing: Mutated by a malfunctioning reactor beneath the mines of the Prison World of Vekhna, the gunslinger known as The Kid had transformed into a circus freak with snow white skin and brightly colored hair and eyes, a mix of mutations, the Voidborn heritage hidden beneath his skin and his pathetically weak psychic potential. In the end, he gained the friendship of mutant raiders on the planet, escaping thanks to their psychically attuned leader.
That could have been enough for The Kid, but the misery and humiliations suffered in the few days spent on Vekhna had left the gunslinger with a thirst for everything that prison had denied him.
Good food, fine wine, fame, fortune and glory. The Kid had always been quite the egomaniac, but after being treated like trash by the Mastiffs of Vekhna, he was determined to make everyone know he was great, beautiful, mighty. perfect.
After years of ruthless, sadistic revelling, what was once an eccentric big-mouthed bandit has since taken over his circus of misfits as the laughing priest of the wretched Dark Prince, who has found much enjoyment from watching his cruel spectacles. To many, he's the beautifully cruel master of the ring. To most, he's the abominable sorcerer simply known as the Jesterthing.

Yeah, Slaanesh is my personal favorite of the Big 4, but sadly it's rarely done right, and often quite predictably.
My personal favorite version of slaaneshy cultists are the Myrmidesh Painbringers from AoS, who practice restrain from every vice to focus only on becoming absolutely perfect in combat. You don't get to see fully armored golden knights for Slaanesh very often, and it's a shame.
