Since I've had that whole thing about Spook being tormented by a demon of Khorne and at this point this is really looking up to be ✨ Psyker month ✨ , I kinda want to make a tiny little comic to elaborate a little on it, also because I find the idea of a smarter khornate demon having plans for a psyker interesting. For today I'll stop at this first little thing, but I'm hoping to chip away at it between one bit of work and another.

Still part of my W.i.p. mini-comic of why exactly a demon of khorne not only doesn't want to kill a psyker, but is far more interested in bringing her to their side. Also a fun excuse to draw Khornate Spook since she sticks with the Mastiffs.

Ah, Fun fact, while I reasoned on how a Khorne-devoted Spook would work I just made a "Not-really-a-psyker" build for her. Smite just to empower heavy attacks, Scryer's gaze for her berserk mode, and back to the left for warp charges to stay in it as much as possible, with a chainaxe and autogun. It's probably crap in harder games but it's funny to do. Real speedy build too.

looks at delgoth
...but you start from somewhere! This is all part of a supposed corruption as the one clever bloodletter suggests it to Spook, maybe someday I'll try my hand at a much more advanced look for that path.

Dandelions are awfully tough plants, they'll grow nearly everywhere including cracks in rock and concrete. Just like that I felt they fit Schrodinger, he's got that spark of personality, sensibility and humanity even in the awful environment he grew up in, in spite of a lack of a true family or the cold harsh place that was the schola progenium, nevermind the things he had to face after as a cadet and then as a commissar proper. He has to keep a stern face and do what he must as a commissar, but he's the one commissar the mastiffs don't feel like throwing down a ditch, and he'll drop this grim mask to show that surviving part of a silly man to those he feels closer to.
Damn. Feeling poetic today .
I also just liked that a small, tough, pretty little yellow flower takes the name of "Lion's tooth". That also feels appropriate for him.

Decided to also try my hand at this little thing. I struggled a bit on some points, but I think they express the character pretty well, especially little touches like the Color and Object showing the same scarf, just before and after Preach's desertion. Also Preach's Regret for his past actions is basically what I mostly draw about him already, so that one was a pretty easy one.

And yeah, the Mantis just felt right to represent how, being originally born into a Penal Legion and indoctrinated into seeking redemption at all cost, Preach was born with the specific purpose of dying. Got this funny thing done for Spook as well.
It's kinda like a thought experiment in a way, you get to put out some neat details about your character and maybe come up with something new for what you still didn't think about. Might try this for some other members of the command squad eventually, though for now I'm happy with Schrodinger and Spook.

On a merely practical level, I do like that Hawthorne is a thorny plant, awfully persistent, that blooms into white flower that then become red fruit. Just pretend it's some deep metaphor with her being ghostly pale and the demon of Khorne trying to sway her to his side.
Plus, at least where I'm from Hawthorne was quite popular to delineate borders between properties in the countryside, as hedges of hawthorne are thick and... well, thorny enough, that they're near impossible to pass without hurting yourself.
So it's literally a wall that would not let you in.
Plus, if you didn't take care of your hawthorne hedges, they'd end up overgrowing and swallowing up the immediate surroundings until you did something about it.

Datura is a very poisonous flower that causes a myriad of nasty symptoms when consumed, stuff like psychosis, delirium, hallucinations, and potentially death if too much is taken. I picked it because it reflects Skuld a lot, both her own mental state & her effect on those around her.

The Hare is more personal interpretation than anything, but something about how it's some gangly, more feral version of a rabbit and something about how it's eyes look like it's seen too much. Hares just look wrong to me for some reason lol.

Yes, Blaze forcesword, whichever one doesn't get stuck in an enemy when you empower it, and a humble infantry autogun. They both fit in the equipment of a Mastiff of Vekhna, my homebrew penal legion, and I also just enjoy how they play.
Spook's main build is meant to try and give the proper air of a psyker who's mainly a telepath, so she blows up people's heads (Which is a joy when you're firing the autogun into an ogryn and see his head pop) and uses scrier's gaze.

Illisi is great, I agree, one of my favourite psyker melees, I wish I liked the class more, hard to find a build I'd like so much like my Zealot or Vet loadouts, also the squishiness is something I still need to get used to. Infantry Autoguns are also wonderful, Agripinaa being my favourite one I think

Fully get that, my favorite classes by sheer feel are Vet and Ogryn so I know the feeling.
any psyker build I make is done to try and get a teeny bit of defense up, so my best ones are Spook's classic one up there, the one I call "the fortress" that blows up people's heads and puts up a shield as often as possible (And is the most effective one for that, I find), and the "Wizards are nerds" build that just keeps scrier's gaze as long as humanly possible and has Smite just to add even more damage to heavy attacks, so basically does not use psychic powers.
