the 336th Warcroftite Artillery Regiment is an imperial guard regiment created from the former paradise-planet Viridi-Pulvi, specifically members of the only hive -city in the region, Warcroft.
The planet itself was beautiful. With two medium-sized continents surrounded by ocean, both occupied by large vibrant forests and having naturally occurring unique green dust storms that gave it its namesake. Most of the land was sparsely populated, with aristocratic mansions and their own personal production plants, housing for workers and security forces, allowing them to live isolated and granting them the ability to engage in excessive indulgence of their desires.
However, Unlike the rest of the planet, the hive city of Warcroft was voided of the lush forests, which were effectively reducing the danger of the green-dust storms, and thus lead to the creation of the green "rock" storms, where the dust had managed to group into grape-sized rocks and flung at high-speeds.
The city itself had no major-connection to the nobility of the world, with most of the recruits being either from the meagre Planetary Defence Force or from the lower-caste hive workers.
However, the guard regiment itself was run by the aristocratic caste. With the regiments initial creation as an Artillery unit, was just a ploy to satisfy their needs three-fold; Allowing them to appease imperial tithe wanted of their planet, Artillery regiments typically have low numbers of soldiers/guardsmen in comparison to other specific regiments, allowing them to reduce the funding of the unit, and finally as a way to have a bordering "more-professional" military unit as an extra-form of security due to their political influence.
But fortunately, due to the ever encroaching "dark-tide" of heresy, unrest and unknown enemies of the imperium, the once complacent newly created guard-regiment's political protection was forcefully removed by imperial leadership of the sector***,*** and they were deployed to the frontline.
(Note: it was actually the high nobility who removed the political protection in a way to remove any possible challenge or danger to their political power, as the imperial command of the sector had been putting more pressure onto the lords and ladies of the planet and had been becoming suspicious of why they were withholding their regiment.)The initial combat operations were brutal*,* due to their deployment into a planet with freezing weather and large sprawling urban environments, leading to the deaths of nearly most of the nobility command-staff and a large percentage of the general infantry. After years of grueling warfare in the frontline of imperial space, with only minimal rotations to rearm and reinforce, the regiment finally was ordered back to Viridi-Pulvi ,scarred and molded by the conflict, with the surviving commanding officer of the regiment and one of the aristocrats of Viridi, Colonel Vivienne Shawcross leading them back to safety. During the autumn of Viridi, the 336th returned to see that the nobility of the once loyal paradise world had fallen to heretical practices of excessive lust and power. This led to the Colonel officially declaring the removal of the high-lords of Viridi-Pulvi, and that the Astra Militarum would be engaging in civil-war against the lords.
the city of Warcroft became the DeFacto capital of the loyalists, with a large contingent of the PDF and noble houses, who had not fallen to chaos, regrouping at the city to prepare for its defence against the heretical traitorous noble houses and their traitor PDF. The initial campaign by the traitors was initiated with a large armoured assault using privately produced Chimeras and converted PDF-issued Leman Russ's to assault the city, but the large contingent of loyalist PDF-forces, now unofficially reorganized into the 337th Warcroftite Infantry Regiment, and the Basilisk Artillery support of the 336th, lead to an effective and crushing defence of the traitor army. Effectively neutering their ability to assault the city during the month long assault.
With the traitor nobles not expecting their once poorly funded, bare-minimum guard unit to return heavily rearmed, reinforced and experienced; Panic and confusion had started to set-in to their command structure, leading to them to withdraw from the surrounding areas of the city and start to prepare defences at their mansions and personal manufactoriums.
The 336th held their ground until the seasons had changed to Winter, where the mud of autumn had dried up, and the cold would allow for the traitor forces morale to drop, as the 336th planned to initiate their counter-offensive. The heavy snow and green-dust storms broke the morale of 336th's Enemy, as the 132mm guns of the Artillery regiment pierced and shook the sky in a single, bloody week of heavy and intense fighting and massive artillery barrages filled with a mix of high-explosive and incendiary retribution.
The final stronghold of the heretics surrendered after an imperial fleet entered the system to reinforce the 336th, and the once beautiful planet, was now scarred and littered with hundreds of thousands of craters, autogun casings, spent las-rifle packs, and burnt metal husks.
The destruction of the forests surrounding a large majority of the continents due to excessive use of incendiary munitions, lead to the green "rock"-storms that initially plagued only Warcroft, to cover nearly the entire planet of Viridi-Pulvi.
The 336th and the 337th in current times have successfully recovered from any casualties and damage they've taken from the small war and are considered to be a well decorated and effective unit of Artillery and Guard (respectively.). Now that Viridi has lost the majority of noble influence, the once paradise planet is slowly becoming a hive world. With more hive cities and hab blocks slowly being built by an influx of new citizens and works. Whilst the loyalist nobles quietly live solitary lives in the last remaining forests of the planet, spared from the dust storms and scars of war that had turned the planet from a vibrant forest to the muddy earthy planet that it is now.
The Leftenant in the render has a fair bit of flavour text, since he's my Dark Heresy Character, but i'll only post if yall are interested :P

Not much an artist but I kitbashed my man Guardsman Hoss Gasken of the Rocyria 180th Mounted Rifles in Gary's Mod. I went for a heavy western inspired look with the idea being while the agri-world's planetary government manages to supply its tithed forces with the necessities, they don't have the rescources to equip them with advanced technology such as combeads or carapace armor. In fact, the uniforms most soldiers wear are just the clothes they arrived in on the mustering fields with a hand-me-down flak vest pulled over them. Hoss here was told by his mama to wear his Sunday best.
His augmentation was also actually intend for use on a war horse but refitted to make do after he lost his leg to an auto cannon round.
