Which is more than most series
Isn't Solomon's armor supposed to be scaly though
The spear downgraded too
Yooo he found a girlfriend
I should probably listen to Harrowmaster
its pretty peak
NO GIRLS ALLOWED ]
How bro must have felt saying this
Hey, don't slander DAs for that kind of crap š
should i read ravenor or eisenhorn first
ravenor builds on the events and characters from eisenhorn, so eisenhorn first def
Eisenhorn 2 also has ravenorās origin story (9/11 but in 40k)
Yeah fair
Pretty sure that the magos story at the end of the eisenhorn omnibus is after ravenor but i dont think that matters all too much
Going to Barnes and Noble is a joy and a curse for me. On one hand, I bought eight books today that Iām excited to read.
On the other hand, I bought eight books and they cost a good bit.
Iāve spent over 1500 GBP on my new PC plus other bullshit for it
My fathers generational trauma from being poor growing up has awoken in me
Paying money? For books? What is this, the 16th century?
I like physical copies of books.
Iām really happy with my book haul today. I bought āInterceptor City, āDouble Eagle,ā āDeath and Duty,āEpictetusā āDiscourses,ā Aristotleās āThe Nichomachean Ethics,ā Nietzscheās āBeyond Good and Evilā and āThus Spoke Zarathustra,ā and Pascalās āPensĆ©esā (Reflections).
Ok interceptor city and double eagle are certified peak, so I'm now less surprised by someone buying books
On what would have been my friendās birthday, please enjoy once again the Darktide short story in which I immortalised him as an Ogryn.
I had a friend @stray root who named his ogryn after the one in this story years ago when this Short first came out
its one of the reasons why I remember it so fondly

Ay long live Tig
Still doing aurics and sometimes havocs with the lad.
Heād definitely have been tickled to be immortalised as an Ogryn.
Out of curiosity since it always made me wonder, any idea which of the Ogryn personalities would fit Tig the most in your opinion?
You sure you don't remember it because of all the attempts at doing the psyker brainburst monstrosity penance before it got nerfed
?
Probably the bodyguard
Great minds think alike or something.
Has anyone read the Urdesh novels? Reading Brothers of the Snake right now and saw those also covered the Iron Snakes. Worth the read or a hard pass?
Worth it
Cool, I'll add them to the list.
Might also want to read the Gauntās Ghosts novels The Warmaster and The Archon. Set at the same time and place as those two Iron Snake novels.
I saw that, I've read my fair share of Gaunts but it's been a hot minute.
I'll probably dust off my Gaunts omnibuses and read it then.
Guess I'll check out Dropsite Massacre since we're getting the first scouring book pretty soon.
Heard it was entertaining albeit repetitive.
just don't get the audiobook version of fire made flesh it's good but the narrator is really boring
Then i'll be looking for that on black library
I prefer to read. I like the voices in my head more than those of others anyways
Yeah pick any random book from the Munda section and you should be satisfied
Thx Witchfinder
okay this is good
i'm happy about this
this way i can skip some of the stuff you don't need

Yeah and most of the stories in that collection are really good
Would be my review
Where legion
Not in the collection.
Clads favorite book
Fulgrim good
Its mid
you're mid
i enjoyed the solar war and mortis, so i should be good
Solar War
now i know you're a john french hater
HATER
Fulgrim was better than the first three overrated novels
Galaxy in flames is objectively boring
First two can pass
your name has never been more fit
I literally always said you can read 10-15 good books from it and have a nice knowledge of the Heresy.
Im not defending the series, im defending good books you little fucking SHIT

Brb finishing the heresy + siege + probably the scouring will be out by the time I get there. Then we'll argue

i should probably get started on the horus heresy too
so far i've only been reading 40k shid
so this is probably gonna be a good starting point
Its a new book so if its like a proper store they deffo will
some books take longer to arrive depending on the country tho

Bought The Fall of Cadia for $20 from Warhammer Store
Didn't even touch it
Finished the book on my Kindle instead š
The fekking ebooks are $10 as well
Ahhhhh
No no I finished it
Just not with the physical one I bought š

Also ||Trazyn|| is pretty funny in that book
Though most people probably know he shows up
yeah its Rath so it was kinda obvious
he also plays an active part in the fall of cadia in the original rulebook lore too
We're right next to the UK so it should be fine
When will those books come out? Anyone know?
Okay. Gonna keep close tabs on the WH store in that case.
Before they're all scooped away.
I was lucky enough to claim the last hardcover copy of the Relentless Dead.
Worst case go to the store and ask the employees
I'll just try to 'pre-order' them so I have em locked down, see what I can arrange with ma boi
Are the WH store employees in your towns also lowkey the chillest ppl you've ever met?
The guy at the WH store here, Tom, is such a fucking legend lol.
We dont have any here in Turkey but when I was in the UK for 3 years the local store people were amazing yeah lmao
just let me hang around for hours in such a small shop and do smalltalk/look at minis or books etc, it was great
Are more than two of these good?
Turkey mention
š«”
Its VERY so and so
the best and worst part of Shorts is some legit can be peak or simply terrible, since they are (duh) short format so they suffer the most from throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks
On the backburner it is š
Yeah basically read it on and off
Isnt there one in earthquake city

idfk

Yeah when I moved to the UK one of my first realizations was "wait there are Warhammer stores everywhere"
its weird having been a Warhammer fan for years then actually walking into a store lol
"Is that the James Workshop?"
š
Finished Dropsite Massacre, was quite enjoyable. Good / 10
Did they get massacred?
Very much so
Damn
ngl, that's almost every warhammer book
if there wasn't a massacre happening, you get taken to one in a flashback
i just red one : the omnibus about the Emperor Children
That one is pretty alright
I'm reading this thing. Almost done with the Lucius book. How does the other books hold up?
I am realy fan of this legion. šššš
I don't read 4ok book usualy i have too much unread stuff in m'y book case
@tall phoenix Thoughts on Chris Wraight's Vaults of Terra novels if you have read them?
Good but there's slower parts. Loved the servo skull character
Recommend the Fabius Bile trilogy as well š«”
Very good but the story builds up to an expected ending and the last third book is a lot of filler with a bit of a:
-kind of ending lol. Still worth a read tho imo, does a great exploration of Terra and around the time the Rift opens up
Some novels or it were about Bile. Could you said what one are incluses to the trilogy ?
Hes the main character in them but it has tons of Emperors Children as supporting elements/content.
Humm ok thank ! I am pretty sure they were not in the omnibus
Yeah they are their own thing
I don't like Bile. I call him the creepy fairy 'cause he make me think about the tooth fairy in a twisted way š¬
( idk why)
My favorite is Eidolon and Kaeseron.
And.... Fulgrim him self of course !
He has a literal apron made of human skin so that checks out
( sry if i missspell english is not my natural language, i have a dyslexia and my phone sometimes autocorect)
You're all good dont worry
I know but it's more like the attitude giving me the goose pumps... š¬
He's like a creapy gobelins dancing around giggling... Realy making me inconfortable ( in a good horror fan's way i mean)
we love our detroit-planet books
I got into them due to tue valerian/Aleya models
they are really neat characters ontop of that too which helps
I like aleyas character
Shes very fun, also the sign language helps a lot lol
I like that she says or signs what she thinks
And I like her even more because her model in the tabletop slaps
Oh yeah shes based, also big woman š
What I donāt like is the lack of helmet
I wish there at least was an option to put it on
Its a shame she decided to take a stroll outside the castle during the siege
SoS are so cool
wrong character
Wait is that Aleya?
Is it, good
Yes
Armocist, sexist AND baldcist
They do all look almost the same
Whatās armocist
discrimination based on armor duh
Can you believe that I use them as meat shields on the tabletop
Ohhh
NOOOOOOOOO
Meatshields that also deal a fuckton of damage
Lots of people already underestimated them and then paid for that
Relatively squishy but they deal nice damage
Aleya cuts through most infantry and also most characters
Hey they are relatively cheap compared to the rest of my army
10 of them cost less than 2 custodes
So they are perfect for the meatshield role
10 of em for 85 points
NOO
||Somnus broke||
My heart is broken
I love how she is annoyed with guilliman and is glad that she only has to deal with 1 primarch
Sheās cool
Now thereās a second one
Or maybe I misremembered the name of the first one
Holy fuck
The custodes spinning their spears so fast they look like spheres to deflect bullets is cool asf
Just read Arcady Pride, once again I am reassured that short stories just hit harder
Novels simply don't have you feeling like you've been punched in the jaw
I mean they do
Shorts for warhammer are great because they are either peak or bad
also you dont waste weeks just an hour or so
Me rereading vaults of terra to see if it's as bad as I remember
I love the short story medium to write in. You have to properly concentrate the key elements.
its weird because some Shorts get like 17-24 pages while theres ones that are like 50-60 lol
I love how an inquisitor tries to ragebait kriegers
And fails miserably
In the Krieg book
It's because kriegsmen lost there planet and they don't care for the inquisition
They still have it
Itās just a deathworld
Krieg wank, hate to see it š
Whats even happening in that scene again, i completely forget
And they are super duper indoctrinated
He tries to ragebait them
Into taking their masks off
Or crashing out
Are you sure he just doesnt ask them
Ik
At the end he does after failing to goad them into it with the excuse that blah blah all of you hide your faces and how am I to know you arenāt mutants etc
Considering hes basically talking to drywalls i woulndt blame him tbh.
But he tries to ragebait them before to get any reaction out of them that isnāt the same stuff over and over that they basically rehearsed
especially when they are all mass-produced humans
Ye
The cadians in the book are super duper unsettled by the kriegsmen
Which is understandable
I would be too
Thats just more Krieg wank
that entire book is very goofy with the way it treats Krieg in general
because they just do nothing and people get mad at them for basically inconsequential reasons lol
They get mad at them for
Well
Being inhuman
Yah I know.
And weird
its still very played up
they are in the middle of a war and this is somehow what upsets them apparently lol
My guess is that all kriegsmen are incubated in Tylenol
if only
Super duper Tylenol
I mean

I too would be unsettled if I was fighting side to side with people
That seem more like robots
Donāt have any sense of self preservation
Trve

@unkempt musk hereās a photo of the book I was telling you about. Iād also recommend ChrĆØtien de TroyĆØs Arthurian works: āYvainā, āLancelotā, āPercevalā, and āErec and Enideā.
Thereās also a neat illustrated version of Yvainās story by M. T. Anderson that I read a long time ago.
Happy reading pal.

thanks for that!
It also comes with the occasional illustration in black and white, kind of like those Medieval artworks / book of hours illustrations.
Means nothing
In a world where there is legitimate gay furry Neo Nazis. Anything is possible.
Means a lot tbh. Ive never seen the bottom tier people you describe use it lol
I have x.x Nazi I knew in high school was a furry idk if he was gay though
Weird guy
To anyone thatās read it, what is Dark Coil like? Would you recommend it?
Very good
very horror adjacent though
and kind of confusing/slowburn
This is peters recommended reading order
if you want to follow it
Thank you! So more thriller style then mostly? With some horror and just generally grim elements?
Yeah
Though some of the stories are REALLY heavy on the horror
rather then just being horror adajcent
Its imo really good stuff
you get a lot of dif perspectives as well
mostly Tau and Imperium
Oh thatās super fun
I read a lot of HH and marines in 40k, so thatās seems fun
Thank you for the info!
This is fan created, but I listen to a Vox in the Void & grimdark shards on YouTube, and Iāve been wanting to try real 40k thriller/horror material
I mean sex and gender or sexuality doesnāt disqualify one from being racist.
Far less likely that someone is racist if they have progressive views on gender though
Well of course like views on all subjects someoneās view is sometimes shaped by how open winded they already are.
What Grub said.
Cursed
Do iron hands have any good books?
They had one years ago that I was thinking about
I donāt think Iāve ever heard of an iron hands book honestly
Iād have to go to my dads library and dig it out
But thereās also Wrath of Iron
Ravenguard and Iron hands seem irrelevant in the current lore
And i honestly want a dawn of fire series equivalent but with Imperium Nihilus and the lion
But with good quality and not the mediocraty of Dawn of fire
The lion as in the Horus heresy short story?
Oh his second primarch book
The best 40k book
Well of course thereās going to be a sequel. He will obviously be a major player in 11th edition.
His inevitable reunion with cypher
Guilliman
All that good stuff
Only gonna be five more years
Nah 11th is next year
Doesn't mean the books will come out next year
Not enough. I need moaar. Give me at least a trillogy. Uriel ventris got two of those š If he can get six banger books, so can the lion
Honestly I just want me zabriel
Eh... I wanna see the lion unfuck the entire fallen, risen, successor chapter mess, with cypher included.
Cyphers on terra still so unless the lion goes to see daddy I doubt it
Gorillaman went, it would make sense for mister forrest walk to do it aswell
It's also kinda set up in son of the forrest, since he is with the emperor in a warp dimension twice, once at a river and once in a hall in a house. Wouldnt be surprised If the big E called him through that forrest warp dimension, right up to the golden gate before the throne room.
Or he skips that outright and talks to the lion right then and there once he asks the right question.
I mean, he called mortarion a bitch and lit nurgles garden on fire while reviving rowboat on iax, which is quite a number away from terra. If he can do that he can go give the old cat a few instructions via warp dimension hangout
Thank ye. A bunch of classics were added from the olden days.
Mainly just Warhammer now. With occasional outliers like Dystopian, Philosophy, and Arthurian Legend books.
The kinda man I would talk books with
What books / book genreās do you favor, pal?
I've been all over the place since I started reading, mostly stick to horror/thriller style books now tho, Stephen King, H.P Lovecraft, those sort
(I'm also a little weiner and read a lot of webcomics cuz they slap, I like the funny pictures, and they're faster than normal books since time isn't as free as it used to be)
hows the translation in that divine comedy version
Itās āehā imo. Hereās a passage for ya.
tbf you're translating the basis for an entire language, with ABA BCB CDC as its rhyming structure
you can't
True, Iām just not used to it lmao.
I love the editorial notes
Are there any more books other than The Lion Son of the Forest that feature the Lion in the current era?
There's some bits in Arks of Omen, otherwise I think wait until next edition
Mf dueling a patriarch and saying heās a fraud
šššš
Caine is weaponized imposter syndrome
Besides the codex with little info of what heās been up to and arks of omen, no. Son of the Forrest is his second primarch book and latest book.
Id buy the fuck outta new lion book
Id pay extra If they get someone decent to write it. Like Haley, McNeil, A.D.B. etc
Anyone but Thorpe and kyme š¤£
mmhm... ADB would fluff up Chaos the entire time in Lion's book if he wrote it, so I'd pass him as well.
I can see the writers room be like "ok, so, for the script, we thought of something in the 180-250 pages realm, like usual".
Adb "that covers my description of 3 forrest walking scenes. Imma need 750 more pages "
"also, do you have an english/arabic dictionary, imma need to throw in some loan words so a certain someone from the levante gets an anyeurism once he tries to read it"
Id rather James swallow write it or that dark coil hungarian dude, before Nick Kyme or gav Thorpe got to touch that. Fuck, i'd read it in hungarian before i would read it in Thorpes/Kymes english
Give my king Mitchel Scanlon or my lesser so but still king Mike Lee another go.
Homies wrote the best and second best (respectively) Dark Angel books
Never read anything from them iirc
I read DA books before here and there but was always BT fan more. Descent of Angels and Fallen Angels immediately after are the two books that converted me to them fully.
Even though lion does his most stupid most buffoon move of the entire heresy in Fallen Angels
Mike Lee were terrible
In their Ragnar book, they lost count of how many wolf blades there were after they killed a load, and they magically resurrected a couple of chapters later to die again
They also tried real hard to get their self insert into the HH
Any books that focus on thunder warriors? From their pov
No but best youāll get is Valdor: Birth of The Imperium.
It has the 4th legion thunder warriors primarch in it.
With Black Friday around the corner I've been saving up for a e-reader, any suggestions? I see a lot of love for Kobo but wanted to ask my fellow corpse starch addicts for their suggestions and what they use.
There is a short story about them post-unification / before the Siege of Terra in the Heralds of the Siege Horus Heresy book.
āDreams of Unityā I believe it was called.
I used to own a bunch of pocketbooks but now I just read from my phone and don't really have any problems
It's one of those things, like you only buy a music player if its a lot better than your phone. And, unless there have been some huge advancements in the last 6-8 years, I don't think e-readers are
I read on a remarkable. If you make use of its other functions, it's worth it.
I imagine heās swanning about going āit was better in my dayā and āI remember when all this was fieldsā.
Iād actually agree for general.
Personally struggle to read on my phone though, I just immediately switch to a scroll hole instead
E Ink displays are pretty neat and are easier to look at for extended periods of time, I'd definitely get one instead of reading from a phone if I preferred eBooks
What e reader do you use? Because i can only use calibre on my Laptop since that was the only royalty free epub reader i found since black library refuses to publish their e books as PDFs....
To be fair them refusing doesnt mean anything
you can just use any online "turn epub to pdf" site and do it in 5s
thats what i generally do once i get the book files

I did not know that. Thank you š„¹
Weāve all been there

Literal lifesaver when i found it lol
ReadEra
Thx š
I just finished reading The Fall of Cadia, and I haven't cried like that because of a book since i read The Ghost King.
Yah she came out at the whole Gathering Storm ordeal yeaaars ago
Largely as cameos in rulebooks BUT
Sheās in an audiobook with Celestine
- Shes a major character in Our Martyred Lady
audio drama (basically a movie with no visuals) alongside Celestine as the co-protagonist - Also Mindshackle
Iirc
Her girlfriend
I cannot believe Serial Childkinner died such an ignoble death

Also same, need to start soon
Yeah
I've been listening on audible and it's been real good :3
Wasnāt he one of the childskinned rather than a child skinner?
He was like a wretched servant to the night lords
š
All i remember from him is that he carried a shotgun
He was a mutant servant covered in bandages
So itās possible he was just as abused as the rest, rather than doing the abusing
Speaking of shotguns, if Scum doesn't have access to the combat shotties, we raid Fatshark and steal all their... uh... hold on, lemme look up what Swedes call good food that isn't meatballs because that's too easy
Steal their smƶrgƄstƄrta
I was gonna go with surstrƶmming, but that's also an option
Finished cawls new book
It was good mostly
Last 10% was weaker but not unenjoyable
Spoilers for cawl book
||Two important things
Holy shit g man is in nihilist again so we might get the meeting of the brothers
.
I fucking love vashtoor and I'm so glad he's getting more written, can't wait till he's the fifth god||
Vashtorr is so good in the book
(also not a spoiler because its in the book description)
I was being cautious
Also I just love vashtoor and machine daemons. It's not gonna be long until we get full daemon princes
They really explore him well in the book too
||the part where the darkmech dudes shout at the IW guy to NOT mention his name is funny as hell lmao||
I'm only at his summoning so far
Yeah thats my fav bit ironically even tho im about to finish the book
its like-
SO refreshing to have a somewhat realistic daemon
he just makes deals, makes sensible points, he largely doesnt even try to trick you, just states facts etc
He's a busy man
it makes you realise no wonder he has so many daemons on his payroll
He doesn't have time for the fluff
Literally lol
š«”
There are parts of both I like more than the other
to be fair
Genefather was like a setup novel, literally everything that happens in it gets resolved in this book
Like the trial of cawl is easily the best chapter of any book
Glad GW has kept Vashtor consistent tbh
Ok this necron Io is very funny for a talking head
The lady you mean?
Deadlift for the dark gods keeps milking raptor artimax scenes from elemental council. Seems like i need to read that book
Yes she's very comical
Its a very peak book. But also yeah marineslop youtuber moment.
Shes genuinely hilarious
"THIS APE HAS KEPT ME IMPRISONED FOR YEARS. KILL HIM"
I haven't gotten there yet
Can you spoiler me please if he survives the book?
Elementary council is gonna be on my list
|| Sotek is very cool||
||hippity hoppity this glaive is now cawls property||
I'm glad people are liking the new Cawl book.
Gotta check it out after I catch up with my other stuff.
Its basically a D&D adventure
which is one of my fav warhammer book formats, also its just nice to have ALL the setup from Genefather pay off
Super stoked for it
Honestly I don't mind if the ending is a bit weak because the entire book so far has been great
@tall phoenix clean up on aisle book club
I need to read all the cawl stuff still as much as i dislike his role in marrying model line updates to the narrative he seems like such a great character
||omg qov and solena holding hands, i love this with all my heart and i dread that one of thems gonna die at the end of this book||
Just finished the sun eater series. I guess it's time for cawl.
Cawl is a good book. funny characters. Good pacing. The end is a bit eh but it's still pretty well written.
I think the entire Ulvheim plot is really.... weird
it literally serves zero purpose aside from a final big battle spectacle scene like eh?
Guy had to put an ultramarine in the book so he would pay him more
I feel it's there just for "hey remember these guys??"
some of it lands, some of it doesn't
I'm also like only 2/3 through the book
Yeah i think the book is just okay
Cawl is great, Vashtorr is great, everyone else is just there.
the structure is a bit fumbly
Cawl and the necrons elevate the book imo but everything else isn't bad just not as good
Solana was one of the most boring parts for me lol
Boring!!!!

So far I just wish everyone but cawl wasn't in the book.
LOL
Yep. And I was actually falling asleep until we got to him, then my back was ramrod straight and keenly listening lol
god her fucking "WAOW THATS TECH HERESY!" shit gets boring so fast
I think part of my annoyance is coming from the last series I finished, back to a Warhammer book.
Any good novels about hive gangs?
The necromunda ones
Ty
I've been wanting to get into the munda tabletop so I definitely will try to get the rulebooks at some point
Terminal Overkill is gang focussed
Thereās also Fire Made Flesh which is more hive societies and cultures rather than specific gangs
and Road to Redemptkon is about Redemptionists
A lot of the Munda books are also thankfully very good
The Kal Jericho books are good but a little dated, and thereās a range of the older ones that might not make a load of sense now
Iāve one on my bookshelf at the minute about a Varangantua. Gang but the baby is asleeep on my chest and wakes up every time I put him down
The latest Kal Jericho is Sinnerās Bounty, itās pretty fun, a bit cameo ish but thatās the point
An annoying trend of some recent books is that thereās some little sneaky product placement parts added in
The King of the Spoil
This class is preem, choom
"The god emperor is in my phone contacts i do what i want"
You ever think the emperor was only of middling intelligence and got by on having lived through the whole men of gold period
(Putting away his old genomics textbooks) "ive got some great ideas for soldiers"
The bit where the ||Necron chronomancers bicker to one another next to Cawl was very funny. Something about how the primitives would hack them apart with stone axes if they'd get a chance and the other notes how that seems to have already happened and even Cawl can't keep a straight face||
I voted for Ushoran
There really weren't any turbo bangers that I read this year tbh
I wanted to vote Ushoran because he's my husband, but Rose Throne was just better imo
Which faction is more popular: the contest
Just finished relistening to carrion throne and well I take back my arguements I had against Spinoza the first read through. I actually quite enjoyed her character this time around
Dont you know? The blueberries are always the best. The Codex Astartes by rowboat gorillaglue said so

Almost finished chapterhouse: dune, can anyone tell me if some of the books after frank herbert are worth checking out?
Voted the relentless dead bc its the only one in there i read + death korps of krieg hell yeah
Fulgrim perfect son is probably the best 40k book in the last few years
Dark Angels, if you arenāt first you are last.
Since no one answered ill save you
Don't bother with any of the brian books they are not good
fr, don't read anything other than frank herberts own books
his offspring has desecrated the legacy
when sex nuns 2 planet gets blown up by the abbot and costello robots of evil
when the worms that die from a drop of water get turned into water worms that make whats literally called "ultraspice" and then it doesnt matter
wow that bad huh
Yeah if you could hook up a generator to frank herberts corpse you could power a small town
And brian herbert would go "ooh another revenue stream!"
Thats a funny way to put it lol
Is Archmagos worth like, 6 euro or whatever an audible credit costs
any guy haley book is worth it and i personally like it so far
It's a good read. I'd say it's worth a credit
But if you haven't read genefather first
I'll get it eventually, I did forget about Genefather thanks for the reminder
Yeah genefather is great too and has a lot of plot points that become important in archmagos
Are there anything like Eisenhorn, Ravenor, maybe something like books about Cain? I mean about tegular humans in 40k timeline
Tons.
Depends on just what you want
Jet pilots, tank crews, detectives, cultists, etc
Warhammer crime
if you want civilian level stuff
Bloodlines and Grim Repast, both very good. Loved the world building
what is this
A limited special edition of Trollslayer
Give me a tau book wort reading
How is fire caste
Larmoth the type of gal to reject the secrets of the universe book because the cover is lame
Always judge a book by it's cover
Then your a traitor and a backstabber because your pfp
Reading voidscarred atm
Is this on that super old windows movie maker š that background looks familiar
the yaoi might be doomed...
Its very great yeah lmao
my favorite part is how they never even acknowledge that its m/m in-universe and treat it as just a normal thing
I should make a ba successor chapter that make cheese as there art to ground themselves
The word space monk pit that into my head
Let's see brooks has a straight relationship in da big dakka
He's got the lesbians covered in the leilith hesperax book
Does this book finally covered the gays?
Yes.
The main two eldar protags are literally a couple by the end lol
bro just cannot miss
no prior books need to be read for voidscarred?
Nope. Standalone.
Eldar codexes 2-9
That's evil
š
Jerk you already started the bubonic plague you don't have to do this anymore
I mean I left 10 as an option
You spoiled something for me. I dont remember what but someone else got really mad and crashed out
It was something literally everyone knew
She actually did spoil a bit from arch magos for me but eh
what bit
Also does cawl just have an unpainted marine?
This ape has imprisoned me for years kill him!
shoulda made it clear what part you were at

quite possibly even a ||heretic||
Thatās just Hearsay
No. ||The Emperor was.||
Hes more like space hitler so kinda close
You're telling me ||Horus was a... Heresy?||
So Horus is Space Stalin?
Same thing.
Who was the main ork boss in 30k?
Urlak Urg or whatever his name is
no
Orks are British tho
Explains why everyone is stabbing eachother in 40K
The T'au aren't British then
the sole exception
"IT'S ME! JOHN FRICKING GRAMMATICUS!"
the guy who's good at languages
john grammar
somebody wrote that
and an editor didnt stop them
Abnett's editors never do their job
he said as much himself in the afterword of the final Siege novels lol

They have an antagonist called the Cacodominus (in the 5th Edition and Psychic Awakening). That's latin for Sh1tlord.
We're dealing with writers who enjoy sticking play ground humour in the most random bits of lore.
its weird Abnettās Editors did a good job with the Gauntās novels but siege of terra books are just rng if they did their jobs or not

Different editors yeah
Abnett outright says his editor told him to write anything he wants and to "not worry about the word count"
Dumbass š

bro has never seen abnett write anything
Graham mc neil is undefeated
Unlike McNeilās who do their job
He just ignores them until the deadline runs out
Abnett also publicly admitted on Warcom before the release of End 2 that the entire reason he extended it to 3 books was because he just had so many ideas
then you read the trilogy and almost 60% of it could be trimmed or cut lmao
preach
I love most of the ideas in it but theres SO MUCH filler
the fact that some chapters last 2 pages while others last almost 30 is actually crazy to me, its so inconsistent and disjointed
Most of his ideas didn't get released they escaped
and just focusing largely on characters we dont give a shit about
Oh yeah, Iām just digging at McNeil, heās the reason Nikaea dropped the sorcery angle and went with just psykers
And why Outcast Dead is so weird
Thereās reasons he didnāt get his own book for the Siege (the reason is he refused until they did the author profiles then kicked off so they gave him the short)
The author profile/lineup for Siege was funny too
Entire advertisement showing how all these bald guys with glasses will be working together to write an epic saga
Every book after the other contradicts each other

if that isn't the perfect summary of HH series as a whole idk what is
Have you seen how long he made the end and deaths
Mf I wouldnāt bother editing that shit either
The End and the Death of Nick Kyme the Editor
By: Dan Abnett
Anyways im reading the whole SoT soon ready to die
I will become the word bearer
I liked in the gk omnibus'first book (I remember none of their official names) the villain char just tells the loyalist forces that the gk were wordbearers
And everyone believed it because they were covered in books
Tfw your society is too secret
Its a fair assumption when a bunch of space marines with nonstandard gear you don't recognize shows up
I think one because with a T
Tancred? Tancrus?
Dude talking was also an inquisitor
Apparently its just grey knights
Oh, I thought you meant character names
All I remember is they spend all of their boss fights just wailing on amorphous blobs
You talking about daemonhunter the game?
I remember for middle school me the war prayer went hard
Nah the GK books by Ben Counter
Dont remember amorphous blobs
In any of the books other than hammer of daemons
With the chaos titan
Their final fights are always the same
Which is mad because Ben had the best character descriptions in the soul drinker books
Stc
Third book wasnt ab amorphous dude
Thereās one where itās literally a pillar and theyāre just hammering away at it
Was that when he was the mast for a Khorne ship?
Third book was the one where he is brought to a daemon world
In the warp
Yeah heās the figurehead of a ship at one point, goes insane for a while, gets better again
Alarus? Is that him?
I
Might have to give these a reread
And the soul drinkers for that Matter
Same, read them on release
And all I can remember is just hacking away at blobs
Which is an impression that is apparently not warranted, so Iāll give them a second go
Mind you the first may have been an amorphous blob, and the second sorta was one
Because a fully descended lord of change could be hard to describe.
thats because the editor didnt monitor Dan Abnett unlike Gauntās Ghost. He let him do what he wants and act shock that he cant edit properly because he told him he can do whatever

āYeah sure Dan just write whatever comes to mindā
Writes like 800 pages
āsweet cheese and crackersā
Also A.D.B. writes a gazillion pages and uses lots of arabic loanwords. Certain shark gets intellectual anyeurism

I miss his antics
Peak entertainment
I just finished the night lords book remnant blades. Man it was amazing. Highly recommend.
Id recommend the NL omnibus or prince of crows if youre into the VIIIth for more
Are there any great Salamander focused books? My friend has been saying as of recent that Salamanders are often written poorly with the exception of books that don't focus solely on the Salamanders.
Kyme is the king of slop
So I'd only read his books if they're about a faction you like already
So the books your friend were calling bad are probably:
The Tome of Fire series, collected in the salamander omnibus and lords of nocturne and in HH they have Vulkan lives, deathfire and old earth
Besides that, they feature in Helsreach, Dropsite Massacre and i think some of shattered legions stuff and angel exterminatus iirc
Yeah ill be real with you i dont own much of his stuff, i borrowed i think vulkan lives from a buddy and it was bland imo
No they are all slop
Damn, they're that bad huh?
Even salamander fans hate them
Yeah, very bland
If you like sallies you might make it thru, but i dont reckon itll be very fun
where do i start if i want to read 40k stuff
pinned messages has a nice list for that exact thing
@mental galleon you got a favorite faction yet?
IMO, Eisenhorn or the Warhammer Crime Books
world eaters
Yeahhhh idk a book to recommend for them sorry

Very simple and concise breakdown by Ian
When Morbian Books

Morbian?
Wait but did you mean Moebian or Mordian
Both, got bored and wanted to make two bad jokes.

As others said eisenhorn or wh crime, but i also recommend gaunts ghosts or ciaphas cain
Angrons primarch book.
i should add the warhammer crime stuff to my reading list, seeing it recommended a lot here
Definitely recommend.
Tbh Iām not even a fan of them. I grabbed remnant on a whim and absolutely loved it.
The night lords manage to be both evil and funny at the same time.
Well fair enough
Mike Vincent cooks good stuff
Tbh i prefer other omnibuses to the NL one but thats another story
āI enjoy seeing you wallow in failure only slightly more than Iād enjoy flaying you alive.ā
āWe both know thatās a lie.ā
āā¦youāre right. Come here so I can test my hypothesis.ā
And I burst out laughing.

Understandable
It has some quality lines. Genuinely .
Indeed, overall a good time
I dunno about that like, I gave up any attempt to enjoy it when he Mario stomps a marine like he was a goomba
The Infinite and the Divine other than Eisenhorn, WH Crime novels, or Gaunt's Ghosts
A short read and mainly focuses on two main characters
Based
Not sure where to post this but the latest White Dwarf has given me a code for a mobile game hero I am happy to give to anyone here?
It's for Tacticus, a blood angel marine called Nicodemus?
uh is it ok I get it?
i Play tacticus from time to time

Sure I will DM you the image with it.
Sent.
Have fun.
thanks
I was so excited this morning to finally order the special edition of Era of Ruin.
But thereās a small problem: Itās not arriving until 185 business days have passed.
Feels karking terrible man.
another L for physical book enjoyers
Aināt that the truth.
the 185 business days is pretty common for all made to order releases but they never take that long to arrive in reality
I think it's there just to have a date when they can't say for certain how long it'll take to arrive
Why did the gaunts ghost writer use 67 for so many numbers
Im going insane
67 that
67 this
Im losing my fucking mind
Dan Abnett works in mysterious ways
I just finished the Eisenhorn trilogy and I'm a bit messed up xD
Drinks for ||Fischeg||
lmao
Legit he wanted to save a friend ||Eisenhorn becomes the monster he is afraid off||
šŗ šŗ
He served the God-Emperor well
||Kasrkin|| Go fuck you demon
Stabs the neck

I read it in kindle format so I wasnt aware of the different book covers, so Gregor's appearance was always kind of a mystery until the ending
Not sure if its bugged
Sometimes Kindle would mess up pages
mine was alright
only noted 2 typos in Hereticus
not sure if I want to read Bequin's spin-off books next or if I start on the Horus Heresy
It's Ravenor next, Bequin after
Ohh cool
Eisenhorn -> Ravenor -> Eisenhorn Magos -> Bequin
Nice, thank you
side stories is optional
They're all included in Magos anyways
It flesh out some of the villains and plot arcs but not mandatory
or almost all
I'm a few chapters into Magos because it's what comes immediately after the trilogy
have you tried Ravenor?
I dont have them yet
Ravenor trilogy was released and takes place in between Hereticus and Magos
Iām not sure how much plot is gonna be confusing in magos if you didnt read before hand
ah ok
Magos book has a timeline as well I think, if you have the physical copy at least, not sure if it's in the kindle version
there is no timeline in the kindle omnibus version
unless I stand corrected because I havent checked
First page of the book:
I'm saving that
Magos should include all these short stories as mini chapters before the main story '
so you should be fine by just going with the full length novels (in brackets) until you reach Magos
Has someone read Graham McNeill 's Gods of Mars novel could answer a question regarding the Skitarii?
Ye? Been a couple years now though
||Did a tech priest actually used an Ork's corpse to create a Skitarius unit?||
I was intrigued by an old comment from this post: https://old.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/8gupxa/book_excerpt_fire_caste_tau_learn_of_the_wonders/dyf277c/
Oh that, ||I'm not sure if they'd qualify as proper Skitarii, but the Priest had used Ork corpses to create combat servitors out of them at least for what I recall||
||and it was an amalgamation of ork and human materials||
I see, okay. And did you also read Peter Fehervari's Fire Caste story? Supposedly a similar thing happens to ||a Fire Warrior T'au||.
I have, though I can't really recall that happening. Wouldn't be surprised if it did
Cool so the interpretation is inaccurate from the reddit post
Missing in Action and The Strange Demise of Titus Endor are fucking gut punches
afaik that doesn't happen in Fire Caste, but in another book that I've not read
Quite so, excellent short stories though
Some of the best
Yeah, nurgle rots my brain away
Indeed
I canāt believe Dan Abnett predicted 67
Since I sent this message I have started counting, in 5 chapters he uses 67 five times (not counting repeats of names n stuff)
Abnett cooks again
He used āmemeā in xenos I think
Which is fun in a book from the 90ās
Though William Gibson predicting influencers back in the early noughties was a pretty wild find
I noticed quite a number of predictive history in the first Eisenhorn book
meme is "fairly" old word iirc
like 1970 as "fairly old"
Selfish gene
People used to fax memes to each other back then
Yeah, my take is that it means a memetic device that conveys a lot of information easily
Which is why reaction macros became memes
"my take"
Its literally what it is homie, dont let the internet corrupt you
š
actually I say "corrupt", even the meaning of internet memes remains the same, it literally just passes information lol
Dan foreshadowed something
He invents new words and repeats verbatim to the point you either tunnel vision it or ignore it

Yeah but I canāt be arsed googling it to check and never looked up the definition
an element of a culture or system of behaviour passed from one individual to another by imitation or other non-genetic means.
the definition has been brainrotten in this era but the function of internet memes basically still carries the idea of passing on information
Its both
Memes Jack - MGR
-Paraphrased both Speeches from Solidus Snake Boss fight and Solid Snake ending

Barely. Memes are a bigger part of MGR.
MGS2 constantly refers to them as ideas/genes etc which isnt as memeable
so shut up

Rising is double funny about it because ONLY monsoon is on about the memes
No one else in desperado seems to want to engage with him
Yeah tho Armstrong is also somewhat close, he just never uses the word
His entire thing is passing his ideals to someone as Raiden does the job for him as he puts it himself at the end
his Ideals is that of an ork's that guy is insane
Any good 40K horror novel recommendations
Obligatory Sea of Souls recommendation
Is that 40K or mortal realms?
40k, itās part of Dawn of Fire but itās disconnected and good
Whoah Dawn of fire if it was good
I liked Bookkeeperās skull up until the last 10 pages or so
Also, Only in Death but you have to read the rest of the Gauntās Ghost series first
Same about bookkeepers skull
Awesome horrific clown servitor action
Gambol lives rent free in my head
Itches
But the ending feels out of nowhere and really odd
Uhhhh the servo skull did it???
Yeah, like Gambol feels like an early clue I guess?
But if it was a witchās skull that was using psychic majigery I could dig it
Nope, just a drill
So I read the carcharodon books backwards and I just finished Red Tithe - I don't think I enjoy this depiction of Chaos but I also don't know how you'd portray Chaos any differently
You've got like, veterans Night Lords of the HH being ordered around by some random NL who was born only a couple hundred years ago or something purely because, apparently, he's just straight up better than them at melee combat and he'd murder them if they tried him
Its always odd to me that chaos marines are, in lore, these veterans of a massive war with tactical knowledge and expertise beyond anything of the Imperium but in representation are always these insanely arrogant and shortsighted murder hobos.
those are both valid types of chaos space marines
The Night Lords are and always have been literal murder hobos
Tru but I always thought that was a meme
I didn't realise they'd literally throw themselves in gunfire if it meant getting to stab someone
nah the Night Lords have always been uh
questionable
in Heresy 3e they literally have a rule for NL officers that if they would get hit
you just grab another nightlord and make them get shot for you
What if batman had opposite rules
I think thats exactly what happened here lmao - two raptors rushed a terminator squad, with one of the getting gunned down immediately , but the other (named one) got a stab in and stole a thing
