halo wars 2 went crazy
You guys see the new AoS rts game?
moron
yap yap or the hunter dudes
i was a colony/arbiter player
Just buy large tubes
arbiter my beloved
i also played some shipmaster
i was a god at that game
yep
i was alright
I like da Condors
I was onyx i believe
i might be thinking of halo infinite
i was at the very least plat
he insists its "quality over quantity" which makes
no goddamn sense
is he a kill team player?
Does your quality as a painter trump the quality of your paints?
no he plays everything warhammer related but barely ever paints his models
he got the age of darkness box set
chad tbh
he also constantly claims he'll "get around to it"
and keeps buying new models
oh well thats not chad
Can't he just commission it at that point
i dont even think he's ASSEMBLED some of the age of darkness box
just own up that you play w unpainted models bc u dont like painting
fucking probably with the cash he's dropping
I have a 200ml tube from blockx, one of the highest end paints in the world. also hes using W&S
commission prices 😭
i know but with what hes spending on new models anyway
might as well have a painted fuckin army, aye?
that he DOESNT FULLY ASSEMBLE mind you
thats what i told him
I just cope with tabletop sim 😎
but he says that all the paintjobs are "mid level trash"
hells to the no
i practice with TS
but if thats all you play you're doing it wrong
Lack any other option, sadly
a massive part of the hobby for me is the LGS, I was active long before i got into warhammer bc I play a lot of EDH
idk i feel like oil paint users either see it as a tool to use to apply unique effects to their models
or act like they're the best painter in the known universe
NEVER an in between
My "LGS" is 2 hours away in a capital where I'm unsafe without a gun
least not in my experience
damn mine is too
(i love america yippee)
everything near me is at least 20 minutes away bc I live on top of a fucking mountain
well its not a capital
I think corpse checked it out online yesterday and it was just some guy's basement
planning to buy the shittiest possible mosin
nothing i love more than going out and killing people
copcoded
Can't, europoor laws
hell no
7.62x54r is dirt cheap and i have no money
i shit you not i can get a surplus mosin for like $150
I'm fairly confident I'm more likely to dig one out of my grandfather's wall than I am to find one in a reasonable price range
.308 is more expensive and also i hate that gun on principle
also the gun is more expensive
I have way too many guns (I only have like 8 rifles and 6 handguns)
i have none yet
why would there be an inbetween?
invest in an FN 57
see the part where i said i don't have money
L
also i dont need it
basically a rifle pistol
Create pipegun
to stop whatever it is i hit it with
im not a rust player no thanks
create a heresy inspired craft gun
FN 5-7 is the best pistol when it comes to ammunition, as the 5.7 was designed as a rifle bullet in a smaller cartridge
but when it comes to handling i recommend the sig sauer
of course
it's also expensive
and has less power than 5.56
or well
less penetrative force
which is
what it was designed for
and carbines exist already
i am generally just mad at 5.7 because it was obsolete in the design phase
but that's just me
it was never obsolete, it was created to go along with the p90
I wonder if I can find any old AKs
it can't penetrate the armor of the era that it was designed to penetrate
AKs are nice, but I'm not the biggest fan of 7.62
neither can 5.56
its a law enforcement weapon
its designed for class 1 plates
it was not designed for that
it was designed as a weapon for rear echelon troops
during the cold war
Yeah but I can probably find some 90 year old dead partisan clutching his old service rifle out in the country
it was designed as a new peacekeeper weapon for NATO
that's not what the trials were for
i wish spoils of war were still a thing
tested against soviet armor "of the era" (which was outdated when they tested it)
i wanna shoot communists and bring home a 74
funny that all but one of the countries using AKs aren't communists (anymore)
and i don't count shitty chinese knockoff ak's
as somebody that owns a 5-7 and has shot a p90, I'm telling you it shreds flak armor
russia's service weapon is a cousin of the AK
the armor it was supposed to penetrate wasn't flak
russia also isn't a communist state anymore
Carter and O'Neill compare a staff weapon with the P90.
Stargate SG-1: S05E18. The Warrior.
40k pls
yeah but im an arrogant red blooded american
i can tell
this nightrad desperately wants to get back to 40k
(I want to smash the state)
well i mean different reasons most likely
MUCH different reasons
but the goals remain the same
but yes this is likely a good idea
i think the topic has overstayed its welcome
im a conspiracy theorist and think america is inherently corrupt and we need an entire rebuilding from the ground up to save our beautiful country
apologies for ranting this long**
patriot =/= republican
oh ya no politics
yeah
thats where i uh
started to get worried
i said my piece on it and i think im done now
i gotta get ready
anyway! back to 40k
seeya then?
later, i mean
on the topic of
do we know
when points are dropping
specifically for admech
Not that I'm aware of
i know that the index is out
Probably after all the indexes drop?
and the codex should be dropping this year
they already all have
as of today
Oh then idk
SoonTM
yes
but yeah i wanna know what admech points are
cuz i am PISSED that skitarii are 4+ shooting now
and i better be able to take more of them
in a 1k point army
pteraxii are looking good
and everything else i already had looks good
except for my beloved rangers
that they neutered
I really want to get a Russ and Dorn rn
i love the new Russ model
the new baneblade is sick, too
There's new Russ and baneblade models?
yep
Wasn't aware
dropped with the astra militarum 9e codex
Only know of the kingly Rogal Dorn
thats part of the new range
Man new guard were so good
id agree but they're not compatible with GSC heads
which makes me Sad
cuz brood brothers
but i mean im probably gonna sell my GSC anyway
since i need space
i love their rules
hate painting that many models
I'm still debating getting them or doubling down on my custom chapter
id say start with space marines
My wallet can barely survive one squad lol
Provided I enjoy it, then
ty
idk if i showed it here but i may have stolen your marines' color scheme for a horus heresy test model 💀
i really like the colours you chose
yeah
also i mean, shit, if you wanna buy GSC cheaper i can totally sell some of mine to you
shipping won't be cheap but i can probably cover it
I'm pretty puritan imperium when it comes to taste unfortunately
gotcha nw
wait send some then
i wanna see if you did
oh lol i can see what you mean
mhm
i mean only my phobos marines are gonna look even a bit similar
the rest of my blangles will normal red and gold
i still loved painting it so thanks for the inspiration
np
phobos marines being bright just doesnt make sense in my peabrain so went for that black+blue
Iirc it used to be that marines would swap to camo patterns sometimes with like
maybe shoulderpads retaining colours?
not that i know of
very fair grittier and more dark paintjobs are usually my preffeernece
Same
i will be trying out a
different color scheme
on my mechanicus
once i strip them, anyway
i'll be seeing if i can use like
the classic John Blanche palette (i know it's older than his works but i cant remember the name of it rn)
and make them a sort of orange/yellow ochre color
like Ryza
mhm mhm
it'll be mostly practice for my airbrush
and i wont be using any metallics!
or if i do it'll be
very sparing
not exactly NMM
at all
but still an absence of metallics/sparing drybrushes with them at best
his pallet is an expanded zorn
The urge to torture myself is strong
oh god yellow and black armor
maybe not on your first marines?
yellow armor has a... reputation
I know, up there with white when it comes to how crap it is to paint with Citadel
listen to corpse starch
get professional white paint
he knows what he's talking abt
even if i cant speak from experience
I even have the video proof of what I preach
zumikito's necron drybrush vid was my inspiration for the scheme
unrelated but i have some questions i think you may have answers to
for like
painting shit
shoot
Are you also a certified red enjoyer?
is a silver krylon primer
not like
ACTUAL primer
but i used it as that, not knowing better
and i have no fucking clue what's in it
that is actual primer, which means it will be near impossible to remove
fuck
the hobby stuff is fake primer
shhhit
uh
is there any way i can remove it
that wont damage
the plastic
im guessing no easy way
sort of, if LA's totally awesome doesnt do it, then I wouldnt suggest the next steps for most people
like brake fluid
do tell
oh
hmmm
well
i'll see if i can get my hands on LA's
actually, my grandpa might have some lying around....
not enough, likely
if you're US, its at most hardware stores and dollar general
i am
ill see if i can pop down and get some, then
usually comes in 32oz bottles yeah?
gotcha
i mean like one 32oz should be more than enough
if i wanna strip all my minis at once
yes
alright
i'll get some as soon as i can
there's actually a dollar general like 10 minutes away from me
once my grandpa gets back from work ill see if i can borrow the car
and head over
is that red enough 🙂
that looks SICK
not enough red
i have bangles bro
i need to still build my own necron royal court
i have the skorpekh lord
n stuff
is this red enough
Works for me
no
lol
im conflicted cuz like
i wanna kitbash the skorpekh lord with a tech priest
but i wanna complete my pirate necron group
jusr get a 2nd one off ebay
fair
or use a regular skorpekh for the kitbash
my pride and joy is my doomstalker tho
ooo
but i cant find them
thatd be cool
at a decent price
3d print or get someone to do that for you?
I'm going to go design a Captain now
dont have one and idk anyone that does
online services are
too expensive
and qualit's shite most of the time in ant case
i mean like i dont NEED to kitbash my dominus
i would just like to
you know?
Why are the Blood Angels so popular?
Mutants, cannibals and team killers.
Part of the charm really
yeah
Flesh Tearers also just have a really baller colour scheme
i mean eating people's brains literally gives marines a tactical advantage
cannibalism is par for the course
I'd link you my site but I'm down until the end of july
damn
I have a friend who could maybe help
Their colors are dope, that's true.
Is that legal?
Not store legal that's for sure
But if you're doing it for kitbash stuff I think most people don't care
Eh, the only GW store in my country is in the capital.
Same, and it isn't even a GW Store
I think gw is cool with 3d prints if you design/model the bits yourself as well as print it yourself (the equivalent to greenstuff sculpting), but I haven't checked their rules since I frankly don't care
if it's not like pirating their models and uses some original component's its good to go
angelic space vampires
and the most glorious primarch
They were all glorious.
Aside from Lorgar.
i can understand lorgar's reasoning but that doesnt make him any less of a bitch
he was just ass kissing in the wrong direction
There were others, like the Lion, Perty, or even G-man.
perturabo just pulled the short end of the stick every goddamn time
you can tell im biased bc i have him as my pfp
and also emps treated him and his legion like fodder
he's just an unlucky bastard with an already short temper
i feel bad
Wouldn't change
And he saw the EoT.
yeah that'd do it too
Like, 24/7.
that's why he was so pissed
perty was a man child
one with veryyyy good reasons to be an ass butban ass none the less
Perty's entire character is him being self destructive
He had no good reasons to be an ass, he just lashed out because he was a petulant man child
perty never thought about asking for better campaigns for his legion
he just sat there and took the orders anyways
Asking means he's weak
He did what his legion was made to do.
But being sent to the worst fronts means they don't care for and hate him
But being sent to the easy, glorious fronts mean they just take pity on him
That's his entire MO, he'll never be satisfied
He wasn't even thanked for all the shitty work he did.
yeah
An incredibly good artist and architect
he even had respect for Dorn until dorn started getting all the attention
He had this ability that kinda sucked, because he could understand shit just by looking at things.
yep
"They never liked me"
"But I liked you"
"The affection of mortals means nothing to me"
The entire point is that he'd never be content and he'd always rationalise things as hostile to him
Finally gonna go drive to get the LA's totally awesome
Gonna grab a few jugs to be safe
Shit is magic for cleaning too.
Nope it's a chosen
One of the more recent chaos models
I've never done chosen lol
I do have a lot of chaos stuff though
Disappointed I didn't recognize it
Okay so turns out they only had the smaller bottles of it so I had to get four but it was only a few bucks
I think it'll be enough?
First kasrkin complete
What are you using for the dots
Skrag brown highlighted by ushbati bone
Ok. I have kasrkin too i was wondering what i could use for it
I only have revells brown for potential dots
Soon....
Im already at something like 8 kill teams and ive got 2 more on the way
only kill team i got is traitor guard
i love them
I've finally decided on colors for my AdMech
I wanna do a sort of yellow ochre themed after Ryza
But not quite exactly the orange of Ryza
And also very sparing metallics actually!!! Hehe
Send it!
I definitely will :) I'll see if they're ready to strip tomorrow evening after they've soaked in the LA's until then
Might be able to paint a chunk of them on Sunday
Or at least get some initial steps done
If I'm lucky I'll be able to start Saturday evening but I have a busy day then so I don't know
Lots of errands to run and a tattoo appointment that will likely take a while
Oooo ink therapy
Is that dead guard a 3d print?
Go yellow oxide if you want the opacity.
How are all our Xenos people feeling about their datasheets?
Yellow oxide? Any specific brand you recommend?
I was just gonna do a couple thin coats of the paint I've got
Yep! Gonna get some Mechanicum tattoos
Then being my fav army and everything
Oooh that's rad!
I will always recommend golden
Yellow oxide is the synthetic yellow ochre
natural is more transparent
Yep! I don't know specifically what yet but I know I want a Ryza symbol close to my collarbone and maybe some other symbols or canticle script down one of my arms eventually
Maybe I'll get the Metalica fist holding the hammer with "Duty to the Omnissiah" script underneath it
I don't have any natural yellow ochre
Synthetic is cheaper anyway
its not actually, they are the same price really
Maybe I'm thinking of something else them
*then
The paint I have is pretty opaque though
From the little I've used it
And besides it'll be going on over an orange base coat
So the color will match pretty okay
Even if it's not completely opaque I want a little bit of that earthy orange to show through
Bring it a bit closer to Ryza colors without it being a direct copy
I still want to stick to the Zorn palette after all, though I'll have to look up some proper color mixing ratios and techniques to get the colors I want
I won't need to do a lot of it
Not the complicated stuff anyway
thats actually very easy
It would be if I had a better understanding of color theory
the problem is the zorn pallet NEEDS cad red medium
I can give you a basic lession on it at some point if you want
About it
Someday maybe
I don't need anything too in depth yet
But you've proven to be a wealth of knowledge so far
I had to memorize it as a whole...
And also I'll say I'm not a great student lol
the entire color theory course is over 300 hours of reading
and it requires a good comprehention of physics
its not something anyone should ever need to learn
Basic colour theory is rather easy to pick up on though.
I know
Just as easy to forget as well though
If you're me
I know basic shit like complementary and contrasting color use, when to use them, etc.
It's stuff I use already on models
@plush swift this arrived today. Thanks for the recommendation
depends, actual basic color theory or what people think is color theory?
probably not what you'd consider basic color theory, i have a more complex than usual color wheel hung up in my workshop and some half remembered lessons from school and that's about it
which one?
the one I have is incredibly only detailed
it has like a little paper dial on it that i can spin to easily see a color, its contrasting color, and its complementary color, as well as a few different shades (which is nice when you're a blind bitch like me)
it's not terribly huge
but it works for my purposes
i'll snag a pic next time im in my workshop
if i remember
Actual basic stuff like how to use a colour wheel, cymk vs ryb etc.
most people dont even touch on the important subjects with that
dm me a link, I want to see if I can find the files
Literally for just the two. Now i have 13 others that I dunno what to do with yet
Litter them on the battlefield for flavor
ah nice
They're really excellent. Can barely see any print lines once primed
On my contemptor the only official gw stuff is the tiny head and the base now that I think about it
you pick up some useful stuff here and there, not everyone needs to know how individual pigments react with other pigments by heart
I mean, they sort of do? not like to an extreme amount but like knowing a warm tone blue and a warm tone yellow will make brown is sort of important
well yeah, but we don't use fancy words like "tone" or "hue" in modelling
:^)
also, warm blue would be a red/purple leaning one, right?
For the basics of hobby painting, you need to know paint theory. You only need to know the advanced stuff when you get further into the hobby
Yeah, colour theory is good if you wanna make great stuff
But getting the basics down will take you a long way
colour theory (what to mix, how to mix, how light interacts with things to change colours) helps you even on a basic level. But it's also a hobby, pick up things when the interest shows up, none of it is needed.
We AoS now
i have a bit over 2k points
and haven't painted a thing yet
and 1700 points are still in the mail/hasn't come out yet
xd
Kind of?
This is a warm tone blue
Warm vs cold tone phthalo
Red shade right, green shade left
Yeah, shade, that's what I meant.
i mean, those terms arent super important to get right
fucking post office... they didnt deliver my package
It's here
The color is perfect, the particle size is smaller than scale 75, it's more pigmented any normal acrylic paint, and it can be thinned with water without an issue
Forbidden koolaid jammer
I did some kit bashing to make a custom skitarii marshal, what do we think?
that's cool and all, but can you paint with it? :P
yes
curious how it's gonna look once applied, it looks a little bit glittery in the bag, but that could just be medium/packaging/picture/other things
all mica based metallics will have that look
you cant really break it down super easily
One thinned coat
a few more and it'll be fairly smooth
My poor leman russes
admech didnt change too much
still got a 1k point army with the models im gonna repaint
neat
Progress for tonight
Had to get em done, just gotta do wheels and the base, gonna make the base look like a road
some traitor guard i'm working on
Kasrkin are very fun to paint
i can't wait to find a box of em and corrupt em
though i hope they're not pushfit like the black stone fortress traitoris militarum
made 2 quick and dirty lists of potential fun
i just realized biologis cannot be attached to regular assault intercessors
fuck
Ok
This whole listbuilding this is exciting
I'm also having fun
What are all the armies you can play as?
On tabletop?
yes
I wanna try it on table to simulator but I need to decide an army, was thinking tau or guard so far
Imperial Guard, Space Marines(Stock, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars), Sisters of Battle, Admech, Imperial Knights, Agents of the Imperium, Deathwatch, Grey Knights
Eldar, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, Tyranids, Orks, Votann
Chaos Daemons, World Eaters, Black Legion, Death Guard, Thousand Sons
I think that's all the main ones
Just looked at the ork rules and points for 10th...
Sad Waaaagh
my eldar army went from 1000 points in 9th to 750...
whats agents of the imperium?
inquisition and assassins
So me and @median thistle doing 1000 points of dark angels vs orks tomorrow, time for pain
"Kill team models we can't fit anywhere else"
So it includes the Navy boarding team, Arbites and Rogue Traders also
also is tau not a main army or just forgor?
Probably forgot since you mentioned them already
o ok
I like how tau sound with huge ranged damage but dont know much about all the marker stuff
The cooler version of this is death watch, which are space marines except all their units are killteams
"The Guys kill team was based on"
Pretty black and silver colours
+chapter badges
And a host of edgy OCs
Yeah
Also all their named kill teams lost their killteam rules
Which is infinitely funny

what is killteam
Smaller scale skirmish game
Instead of armies you have teams of maybe a dozen models at most
That sounds cool
Also gets a lot of unique sets that are usually ported to 40k also
Like these dudes
those kroot guys look really funny
They are hyper adaptive shape changing chickens
Have a habit of eating the casualties from battles
So is the dog one too?
Yup, kroot hound
Oh so they are chinese
I don't understand this reference but I'm getting negative implications
Old ancient chinese battle
Hey, how are mechanicus looking for 10e?
they ran out of rations after the battle so they ate the town
I feel like guard got screwed pretty bad
its pretty well known, though I dont remember the battles name
The siege of Suiyang (Chinese: 睢陽之戰; pinyin: Suīyáng zhī zhàn) was a military campaign during the An Lushan Rebellion, launched by the rebel Yan army to capture the city of Suiyang from the loyalist forces of the Tang army. Although the battle was ultimately won by the Yan army, it suffered a major loss of manpower and time. The battle was noted...
"You have been working hard at protecting this city wholeheartedly for the country. Your loyalty is uncompromised despite the long-lasting hunger. Since I cannot cut out my own flesh to feed you, how can I keep this woman and just ignore the dangerous situation?"
In their case it's less a hunger thing and more just like
Culture and habit or something
Yeah figured just showing that the joke is in fact not racist and refrence to a battle
But yeah they're usually portrayed as Tau auxiliaries
They've got a pretty health population of regular mercenaries though.
Them being part of the tau explains why ive never seen em before
Tang dynasty, because yes
Tyranids have some broken stratagems though
Shadow in the warp can absolutely ram you into a ditch if you roll poorly
i mean
they're not bad
but uh
good is a very subjective statement
skitarii got thoroughly reamed
but everything else seems fine
electro priests look good
nvm i jjust saw admech points
we are so fucked
admech are in the GRAVE.
it's been nice
Why are kastelan robots 215 points for 2
Ironstriders and syndonians now only 3 per unit
Kastelans need flamers because of their weapons only hitting on 4+
Because fuck AdMech players I guess
Give me back 9 ppm rangers you fucking cowards
No
Question:
Is it really possible (depending on which scale of points anyone wants to play) with the Astra Militarum to set in total 21 Leman Russ Tanks (different versions of them!) ?! Cuz that would be a lot of "heavy armor" on the field....
In connection to the 10th edition Index etc.
woh
GW secretly cares about TTS and is getting revenge on the mechanicus for killing all those custodes
What's that? I can't see anything.
Poor guy’s got no legs
Ye :( we already got f'ed in 9th edition now it gets worse
9 parts per millions? Or per mille?
Regardless, nine parts for 1k points sounds pretty bad to me
I guess I'll wait for 11th edition and use the coming years to work on my models or something hehe. Will focus on Necromunda for now
Seems gw forgot that most options and different point costs were there to roughly help balance the game. Simplifying it (which in theory sounds nice) will only make the factions less balanced and leaves less options to play the game
They might be dropping extended rules later for "competitive" play, iirc AoS did it that way
If I wanted to play AoS I would play that.
Really hope you can make smaller specialized fire teams of skitarii like you could do in 8th. It was bit annoying when in 9th they forced you to go the opposite route and turned them into a horde faction, which would have been nice if it was optional instead of forcing mixed weapon layouts that made little sense. In 8th I had high hopes as they just revived admech, seen people claim they didn't have an army before 8th but they should look into rt/2nd edition when admech was a small faction 2 ;)
It is on my list for future projects, but I want distinct games, not AoS rules with a sci-fi skin. Moreover, the current implementation of points/powerlevel isn't well done.
Eh, I'll just stick with killteam
My necromunda gang is about the size of a 40k army so this pause from 40k will solve some backlog issues. Haven't really played kill team much but it sounds more tempting with each day hehe
It has nice models
had our first 10th ed games today, Knights vs Marines and Custodes vs CSM. Had good fun and seems like a real nice edition coming up tbh
Points per model
so 10th ed killed: admech, guard, tau, necrons, gsc buffed: lame marines, custardians, lame knights, knights, cannon fodder with he-man hair, csm, nids, votann
Yeah, I see it as a blessing to focus on oldhammer/rt models instead. It's a bit of a bummer but by buying old lead instead of new plastic you might force gw to look into it
Sounds your all good hehe
wonder how nervous and pushy the GW in rotterdam gets with all these factions ruined
I guess I could change my squat projects to the buffed armies like LoV but that would betray my ancestors :p
Might check out that event it's only a few kilometers away
i'm hoping the actual codexes come out before next ed, rather all of em come in the same month ngl otherwise you get the lamer factions with codex against anything not a space marine stuck on index
Yeah that would be ideal
Would be nice if they just delay a new edition to the point where most faction rules are set and balanced relatively to eachother
Tactical sergeant
imagine being hyped for world eaters and just getting your codex and spiffy new models and 3 months later the codex is worthless
Imagine waiting decades for squats to return to end up with the LoV :p
imagine being a tau player that had to shelf his army for 3 editions and counting due to the rules forcing you to run riptides for 2 of those editions and breaking the army as a whole in the third
Aw, ye that's bad
I guess my squatmech will be a bit of a protest project. Lot of toilets in there to symbolize dreams down the drain ;) and some fan lore backstory how the magos overloaded the memory banks of a votann with 18+ content to the point that they became a slaaneshi cult, luckily he escaped in time and got rid of his addiction
That ai was heretical anyway
What? Necrons got some AMAZING and fun rules
good luck getting em in a list with points to spare
they're not even that expensive?
the fun stuff is compared to the adeptus mediocrus
like what?
your destroyers costing more than terminators, the entire canoptek line went up in point cost
destroyers are more killy than termies though
and they have very effective synergies with leaders
you can't really compare units just by their base statline and points when you have myriad of other factors playing in the balance of those units
destroyers also hover so they arent as affected by terrain
🔥
Thanks! Probably my favorite elite I’ve painted
necrons are looking fine actually
and GSC points are mid as fuck but rules are great
its not gonna stop me from painting and playing admech of course
i just stripped a whole army to repaint them damn it
Out of curiosity how did it kill tau?
i am going to
assemble a full 2k point army
of admech
and im gonna take them to a 10e tournament
and im gonna fucking win
to spite
whoever the fuck
wrote these rules
and points values
i am SO fucking pissed off at this
drones are equipment again, markerlights still suck, sealthsuits became less usefull, still no point in having breachers or hammerheads, crisis suits stayed pretty much the same, ghostkeel became shit, riptide got nerfed, stormsurge stays pretty much the same, half the forgeworld kits are just gone
Finished a new one for my feudal guard
Might surgically remove the arms of the lad on the left to make the greenstuff less obvious
Workin' on my Einhyr Champion...
Ordering my stuff next week, can anyone recommend a good primer?
I think i'm done...
What brand of colors do you want to order? Citadel or what?
Do you do priming with airbrush or rattlecan?
Don't have an airbrush, first time painting
For my Black Templars i used a Rattlecan of Citadel "White Scar" paint. Vehicles and Infantry was primed very good with it. But Rattlecan requires good weather and some free space outside...
Unsure what ideal weather is, but I have ample space
Not too hot not too cold and almost dry... also outside is important that it is not too windy...
Can I apply primer with a brush at all
Also possible...
Okay because these are the only sprays I can buy and I am
Not certian they're great for ultras
So you want to make Ultramarines?
Getting that paint set that came out with 9th ed that has a brush and 3 models to test the waters
And it only really has paints for ultras so
@plush swift what do you think? Your suggestions were always good ones in my opinion... I would go with the grey/white rattlecan....
when I started with ultramarines I just sprayed black and did the blue by hand
Also an option.. I just think black is a bit too intense for priming
Those are rebranded duplicolor 2 in 1. Just buy that and save a few bucks
I did try with a blue spray for a good while but I started to hate recess shading which took just too long to do carefully which you could skip with a black prime
I don't think I can order that
what country?
check your local hardware store
Christ do these guys never restock....
I'll check with a guy I know, hopefully he has it
well there are better brands, most of those hobby sprays will be rustoleum or krylon anyways
By the way:
Has anyone a tip where i possibly could get the Black Templars Dice set? I missed those out... preferred would be EU region...
you can get similar ones pretty easily, not exact one though but they are 1/3rd the price and 5x the quality
Etsy or where?
etsy is a good one, i googled them real quick and found a lot of random stores selling similar ones, however I dont know the trust worthiness of those sites
Okay, then i will look a bit around. A friend of mine suggested to look on Ebay if i want to have the GW ones. Anyways i will order some dices soon cuz i will need them for playing 😄
In the grim darkness of the 42nd millenium, there is only A-10
A good one for the 1st Legion Astartes
I swear by krylon primer, shit is cheap as dirt and goes on super thin
DA BOYZ
I dont actually prime anything personally, but I'm using more professional products that dont have the same surface tension issues
Army is fully stripped and the only basing elements I'm waiting for are clock/watch parts
I know it's not the cleanest strip job but what's left are super thin coats and they're clean enough to prime
Fair but it's still a good measure to make sure your paint doesn't just chip off as easy especially with the paints like 90% of people use
Anyone have any white armored minis that have been hit with a blue wash
Depends what do you need that example for
Or do you want to buy something like that
OH
Ive been told that blue is good on white armor
No need for a blue wash on the white armor
But dont want to commit yet
I use grey wash on white armor
Ive done plenty of brown wash in the past
Use a thinned black wash or a thinned contrast like apothecary white mixed with a little black wash
Or give it a coat of varnish and use something like Tamiya grey panel liner
Ive used thin black on my ravenguard apothecary.
Wasnt bad but wasnt my favorite result
Rip apothecary. Gone forecer because I dont wanna build the rest of his box for 10th
primer actually does nothing for paint durability
You can make your own grey wash
Or even a very light grey wash
Depending on your ratio of black/white ink
dont even need black honestly
Well yeah I know you can get grey ink but I just mixed what I had lol
Ive made homemade washes before but I already have a lot of pots i need to use
I made a gallon of wash a year ago when I made a screen accurate mandalorian episode 1 suit
Ooh nice
You can still see the wash stains in my driveway where I spilled a year later. Now thats good weatherin
Does anyone know how many points of stuff you can deep strike in 10th edition?
idk that theres a limit but it depends on whether or not the unit/model has that ability
or keyword i guess
there probably is a pts limit
but it either hasnt dropped yet
or i cant find it
JUZT DA GOOD OL BOYZ
ALWAYS GIVIN’ A WAAAGH
Feeling on the T'au sub is pretty positive. Dunno what you mean by "ruined"
Tau are fine
admech also at a second glance
yeah the points are
dogshit
and the datasheets are meh
BUT the rules are really good so far
at least with rad cohort
stratagems
doctrina imperatives
at least it means that turn 1 admech get positives no matter who gets it
you get turn 1?conq imperative
you dont? protector
and with a few enhancements they'll be fine
admech still aren't good by any means but they're not unplayable
@cursive gyro i liked your trukk so i thought you might want to see mine

I really need to paint this lad sometime
Is that an older CIB or printed?
Inquisitor (L) and Rogue Trader (R) ready for 10th
Including proper 25mm base sizes lol
It's from the newer Commander kit
Modified a bit so it can be gun
The nostalgia!
Oh nice, yeah I see it now. I only have the one from newer kit too, but I think seeing it mounted the way you did threw me because I set mine up to have the rotary barrels on the bottom of the gun
Gorgeous 👌
Thanks, tried my hand at a camo cloak; I think it turned out pretty decent
Nice, I'd highly recommend some Tamiya panel liner for the metallic, just place a drop in a crease and it will magically spread everywhere and give that metal a ton of depth
Good recommendation, but I need to use a gloss varnish in order to do this, and I'm kinda lazy now x)
you dont
works fine without a gloss varnish
My Trench Runners Sergeant
Currently painting my first Rogal Dorn Tank. Any comments or criticisms welcome on how to make it better (WIP). I still need to do some of the highlights.
Love it
You're bases look amazing but if you want you can get a really good asphalt road type base by using thin sheets of corkboard
My third of the Arbites I have while I wait for my leviathan order
This looks great, I like the technique.
Tallarn X: aka "The Double Diamond" thunderbolt
This model is a proxy for a Thunderbolt. This is for my inquisitorial guard army from the tallarn 12th armoured regiment. I need a name for the pilot though.
Prime it Chaos black dry brush a dark grey then use masking tape for the lines
You'll want to use super glue for the corkboard then seal it in with watered down pva glue
Yeah , great looking effect. I will likely give it a go. I have done similar types of things with other materials, but never used cork before. I will likely do this for the bases of my rough riders on bikes.
You can give your models some good height with them if you don't right
“Can I make it any better” you paint better than half the people here bruh I think you’re good

How'd the ink sesh go?
ty ty
Progress on my biggest model yet and first real vehicle.
looking pretty clean
Thanks!
nice, i love DG
Tomorrow, after the texture paint dries, I can varnish and finish with some blood4bloodgod splattering
niiice
love the corpse below him and the texture.
I love this vehicle
It was my first biggest model two month ago
Now that’s what I call “covered in shades”
Looks like it crawled out of a junkyard.
Bike go vroom
Lads n ladies what on earth do i use to remove paint
I regret doing basic bitch death guard and wanna do Lords of Silence instead. Help a brother out plz
Incineration
where ya from
dont use acetone, isopropyl alcohol is generally the most effective from what ive been told
thats fair, apparently dettol works too but ive read mixed results so take that with a grain of salt
Whats the potential negatives?
it could be abit messy and might take a while depending on how effective it is
and it might stink
but it wont melt your models
That was my main concern
The other stuff is very meh
So i wouldn’t care
Just wanna make the cast of the book and change my troops in vehicles lol
thats fair haha
Simple green, dettol, isopropyl alcohol above 70 percent. Never use acetone
Biostrip paint remover
White gloop, comes in a plastic tub
Nontoxic, no fumes, safe to wash into drainage
Dettol and IPA are a lot of work for not great results
Acetone free nail varnish remover is more effective, but it softens the plastic and stinks
It depends on where you live
biostrip. Dont use IPA, IPA is a secondary alcohol and doesnt affect paint well
