The fact that you need to waste a blessing in order to get more than one powered swing sucks when the activation animation is so clunky. The damage on a powered swing is of course very high, but it’s overkill for elites and just not worth it against ogryn enemies who will still most likely survive, and the unpowered performance is poor. It’s not the worst weapon in the world but I have no clue how you can call it the strongest vet weapon

Most things power sword does can be covered far more reliably by other weapons, especially with power falchion being added

And I just don’t see its niches being that necessary in the average encounter

Not every weapon actually uses it to the same effect as a power sword because the entire point of block canceling is, again, to reset to that top of the combo route, THEN gain access to a push attck followup in this case where that's the point. It's not 100% necessary to do but the idea is to eliminate the recovery frames between these your power up and combos.

Block canceling for example matters way more in vt2 compared to dt. It can still be done for the same base purpose of a block cancel, but applied in a different context more broadly.

It's not to say that blocking holds zero purpose but rather that blocking is often more of a lst resort for the majority of weapons compared to dodging. It's mostly there as a snappy method of defense and access to push attacks and block canceling opportunities. But unless the weapon is more steered towards blocking for longerish periods, you mostly don't want to risk getting your guard destroyed.

There seems to be a big misconception here, I’m not talking about an attack. I’m talking about the activation animation on the Mk 6 power sword. This animation which is accessed by pressing mouse button 5 (using the default keybinds that I don’t think I changed) actually allows the weapon to enter a powered up state. From this state you can use one or three attacks depending on the weapon blessings that will be stronger as well as mostly ignoring armor. When you press mouse button 5 both of the other power swords and even the other mark on the generic power sword play a whole animation before you can attack. However on the Mk 6 this animation, which is not an attack, can be skipped by block canceled meaning you can immediately use a powered attack.

Dodge sliding is a pretty important thing to understand how to use more purposefully. You'll get used to it as you play with the game and your personal ouput over time. Repitition and recognition of scenarios where it betters fits in your play is all you really need.

Also, when you run into one of those run-ending walls of gunners and other ranged enemies, you can just hand one of the other players your beer, run ahead to catch all the bullets, pop desperado and make it all go away

What makes the hives scum so fun to play is that every match you have a bunch of those "hold my beer" crackhead monkey moments and if you've got teh right build and strategy, you can pull it all off.

I could run an anti-carapace melee, but that would require letting go of my gun for a moment. Can't have that. past lv20 or so, my melee slot was just there to get mastery levels.

oh, snipers are my bane. Too many times I tried to take one out at range, confident it would either get suppressed or catch a bullet or two just for the braced autogun spread at 100m to decide to miss all shots by a lot.

auric got the havoc spawn timers now so unlike other difficulties that do hordes by distance travelled, auric does it by time elapsed so it can get kind of spicy, the overall horde density was improved a couple patches ago as well, it's a much better experience. whereas before there was high intensity auric, all auric begins at high intensity in regards to difficulty now w/extra juice on top
