Not due to them being scary. But because Nurgle literally just made them exist just to be tortured.

They basically have pyrovision. They genuinely think they're just playing with you and have the attitude of a puppy. The problem is that their "playing" often causes people to die horribly.

Overtime, they get confused about why people keep hurting them. Why they suddenly "disappear". So they become bitter due to this and evolve into a Rotfly.
