Psyker doesn't feel good until they are basically fully leveled with good gear.

It's not a great leveling experience.

Staves have REALLY wide scaling and are bad at low investment.

Basically you level with assail and use what the emperor gives you of it you really want something from the armory.

You should pick Mettle and Perfect Timing instead of melee attack speed

And carapace instead of flak on the sword

Don't think you will need the toughness on warp charges either when you have mettle, so maybe pick Emphatic Evasion or Quietude instead and then you can pick Battle Medition instead of Soulstealer to help with quelling, because it's not affected by the havoc quell penalty, if that's somethig you need.
I would also pick Empyric Resolve instead of the Rending, especially for Havoc

How the hell does the voidblast staff work? Never really used it over any of the other staves, mostly because I found aiming awkward, and now I can't make heads or tails of how the damn thing assigns damage. Testing in the Psykhanum, it seems to me like it divides its damage evenly between all targets in its blast, but there's also some kind of falloff/priority system from the center to the edge? Because especially when I target several elites, one dude in the middle will get absolutely obliterated, but then none of the others take a lot of damage. Same for poxwalkers, where a couple will get pasted, but all the others take trivial damage and get thrown aside

Is that correct, or am I just missing how it works?

My absolute favorite pick with marksman's focus is the laspistol. Since it's really mobile, easy to headshot with, high ammo, and good finesse damage to begin with. You can spend half the time just shuffling around with dodges while headshotting anything and everything, and with Shock Trooper it doesn't even matter if you shoot random mooks since your crit chance can be built high as hell.

Empyric Shock is all warp damage, Soulblaze is warp damage. Channeled Force is only primary damage. Those are the only 2 staff-specific talents.

Replace warp expenditure with soulstealer, you will get much more tougness replenishment by just flicking assail shards
One with the warp and endurance don't make that much of a difference, I'd get rid of them. Take by crack of bone and tranquility through slaughter instead and you'll just replenish toughness by peril quelling those two talents provide you with

oh and cruel fortune works much better with perfectionism, it's not really needed for lingering influence

You don't need either of the quell talents either.
