no, it's just a source can only inflict a higher stack if it's cap is higher

so for example

5 stacks of burn from purg -> +6 from shriek -> +4 from purg will get you to 15

but purg has a cap of 15 (16 if you crit the last hit) and shriek 31

so if you're at 15 stacks already, you shriek up to 21 stacks, but you can't replenish those stacks with purg

because it's cap is 15, it will only replenish it at 15 stacks

so both ways work but only the bigger cap can inflict higher burn

Depends on the staffs stats, check the Burn stat details in inspect. Stacks are doubled on critting iirc too

you can test it really easily in psykhanium especially with creature spawner, I don't have the numbers on the top of my mind

It's worth it. You begin to get diminishing returns in the mid to high 20s on SB stacks, but it's still impactful.

But of course it depends on the moment and your positioning. Sometimes those 6 sb stacks need to be sent elsewhere.

If other's are on the boss, you can purg it and manage hordes and other groups. If you are the one tackling the boss or there aren't other enemies to worry about, get as many stacks as possible applied (15+ is best), switch to melee with uncanny and unyielding and stab, and switch back to purg to refresh the sb stacks.

A sb stack lasts about 8 seconds and they fall of 1 by 1. Applying a single sb stack will prevent all of the stacks from decaying.

Two ways:
Simply spamming left click will quickly send out the needles in a general direction, their targeting is pretty randomized but in that direction
Holding down right click before left clicking lets you choose a target with a highlight similar to brain rupture, costs more peril but I think does more damage and it will go straight for that target

Assail primary / LMB releases quickly, have some hang time, and can be guided by placing your reticle on the enemies you want to attack; otherwise the enemies they hit are more random or can even just fly off into nowhere. Secondary / RMB is the aimed option, does more peril and damage, and doesn't have to be babysat to get to the first desired target. Is say first, because assail has cleave; any shards that are still in the air can be aimed or guided with more control by holding RMB and aiming at your target.

Edit: Assail can also interrupt and stagger a lot of enemies including gunners and ragers.

Okay, soulblaze lasts ~8 seconds, and after 8 seconds it wears off 1 stack per 0.75 seconds

Purg staff normally soft-caps at 15 stacks. If you crit, which applies 2 stacks, you can get to 16. Shriek can add another 6 if you're >=84% peril. Multiple psykers shrieking can stack. Hard cap is 31 stacks.

Yeah, what you do is stack up from purg, and then swap to your duelling sword (and you should be using duelling sword, or at least a single-target weapon) to deal with bosses

Occasionally swapping back to purg to maintain stacks if the boss lasts that long

Of course, in practice I find just staying on purg to be helpful if the boss isn't the only thing around. Psyker boss damage sucks and you want to keep enemies off your allies who can do more boss damage.
