The best way I always clutch is the fighting retreat

Just fight your way back to the previous room, there will be a natural chokepoint there

Once the specials come in and stop your chokepoint fun then retreat to the previous previous room and use that chokepoint instead

Repeat until everything dies

you can care about managing your charges, but you can also be pretty willy nilly since assail doesn't demand a lot of active time from the player and just use your primary/secondary in the meantime

The stagger aoe is bigger than the circle on trauma. You want to edge your perils for nexus. You can quell cancel so you can start your next cast faster.

Blazing spirit on staves only goes up to 6 SB stacks. That's why creeping flames can help a lot. Also killing multiple elites + specials and procing PC.
