like, Fatshark could have given us a nerfed variant of the "enemies take more damage after hit by BB" talent instead of Flayer, and I think people would like BR more because of it having an actual extra utility that Assail doesn't offer (outside of access to Wildfire and PsyAura, and the ability to kill snipers from any distance of course)
