midnight jolt
#

that's very close to what I have, except that I went also for wildfire

#

let me swap to smite though

lethal lagoon
#

There are 2 free points on what I linked, so do whatever floats your fancy.

#

Wildfire is pretty mid though

wind spruce
#

Atlas has two points missing (presumably so you can choose what you want with them)

lethal lagoon
#

I should have unsloted quietutde and left it as 3 free points, but whatever

willow hazel
#

Someone asked for my surge loadout.

latent hill
#

That would be me

#

The shield psyker from your previous mission.

lethal lagoon
latent hill
#

Thank you 🙂

willow hazel
#

generic and reliable

long wharf
#

you skipped Empathic Evasion

midnight jolt
#

I have the same as Atlas suggested, put the 2 extra on extra warp charge and empathic evassion

long wharf
#

I'd rather grab Empathic Evasion over Kinetic Deflection

lethal lagoon
#

I find emphatic evasion mid on Surge

long wharf
#

why? surge crits more than other staves

lethal lagoon
#

But it's usable

long wharf
#

it's nearly reliable

lethal lagoon
#

Emphatic evasion needs a rapid fire gun in my opinion

willow hazel
#

Yeah just made it through a range only mission with 59 damage taken, EE couldn't have done much

midnight jolt
#

can go for extra 5% movement speed, I would not mind

#

I hate to be much slower

long wharf
#

you might have dodged those 59 points!

midnight jolt
#

filthy peasants leaving me behind 😂

lethal lagoon
#

You have mettle, so you should be fine thumbsup_ogryn

long wharf
#

but hiding behind teammates and shooting through them is a time-honored psyker tactic

midnight jolt
#

but getting caugh by the horde they left behind is not fun KEKW_ogryn

lethal lagoon
#

That's what creeping flame is for

#

Just yell at them to go away

wind spruce
# lethal lagoon

I was about to ask, you don't find the peril reduction gets in the way of creeping flames?

grand scroll
#

Ok

rich jolt
#

Just make sure you take something for single target

lethal lagoon
#

There are a few moments where it's like "Gimme peril plz"

#

But they are rare enough that it doesn't make sense to account for them

#

I definitely don't use peril reduc on Purg and Void though.

#

It also tends to be more of an ego "I want top damage" moment rather than I reallllly need to flaming shriek moment.

wind spruce
lethal lagoon
#

Speaking of BM, it's for a similar reason.

#

Seeing my peril dropping gives me a dopamine high from all the shit that's dying to cause that KEKW_ogryn

zinc phoenix
shadow wigeon
#

Yes well as you know you don't require CF for Blaze Trauma to be effective, which is why running bubble is an option. Running bubble on Surge is possible, but messy, which was the point.

zinc phoenix
#

Bubble with surge smite is beyond heresy

lethal lagoon
zinc phoenix
#

It’s so heretical I got first degree heresy just seeing it suggested

lethal lagoon
#

Which I'm cool with, but it made me misread what you said

lethal lagoon
#

That is not a thing

#

Do you mean emphatic evasion? That's dodge all ranged damage for 1 second on crit.

zinc phoenix
lethal lagoon
#

Oh, "dodge range" not "dodge range"

#

English is wild

#

There is Anticpation right next to it, so I thought you were getting them mixed up

zinc phoenix
#

Anticipation is pretty poo

lethal lagoon
#

It is

#

Hence my confusion

ornate hamlet
#

God, they need a revamp for the psyker talents, every psyer I see on damnation difficulty, which is all I play, all they can do is just spam left click with biolightning and they are just absolutely useless teammates

tribal shale
#

What perks do I want on this, Flak and Crit chance?

zinc phoenix
ornate hamlet
#

I main Psyker, and get CC, and more damage from other stats

zinc phoenix
#

Pysker has better builds than just hold zap

ornate hamlet
#

and talents

lethal lagoon
ornate hamlet
#

yeah, oh yeah, I use Assail, finally we have a "grenade" and carry a shock staff for CC and damage

#

and sword with deflector on em, so you can save teammates from gunners and reapers

lethal lagoon
#

Also EP smite will do more damage than 99% of pubs on Auric t5s/Maels.
So it's 100% a psyker problem.

#

Smite was honestly a mistake, it's lowers the skill level of psykers by two whole tiers.

zinc phoenix
long wharf
# lethal lagoon

why don't you take the "10% warp charge chance on soulblazing enemy death" node?

stone totem
long wharf
#

but I love assail

ornate hamlet
#

yeah it does good CC, if you wanna call it that, still pretty useless against half the mobs on Damnation, but absolutely NO damage

lethal lagoon
ornate hamlet
#

so really, all a psyker using lightning does, is just put off whats coming anyway, most of em dont even stay with their team, so they're just postponing the inevitable with the lightning lol

#

Shock Staff is the superior lightning!

stone totem
pallid galleon
#

lightning as a staff, excellent for stuns on crushers, etc then single target takedowns also mint for pushback of the pox pox, overall not the huge dmg but combined with mb from range n stun/reasonable dmg upclose it is a great time addition imo

lethal lagoon
#

I literally used smite on single target poxies.

#

It was awful

ornate hamlet
#

Scold every psyker you see with biolightning, and wave a staff in their face

stone totem
#

Honestly lightning staff is my favorite, purgatus surprising me as a close second

pallid galleon
#

smite skewed since dmg buff to others from it makin ya look back, biolightning a crutch for the inept, unless well coordinated private

stone totem
#

Lightning staff* good for both single target and even decent against horde

tulip kettle

surge staff always feel bad to me

long wharf

oof, no, not decent against the horde

i dont understand how to make it good

zinc phoenix
tulip kettle
#

like what is its use case that void or trauma wouldnt do better

zinc phoenix
pallid galleon
#

use just team stun on elites up closer while still droppin reasonable dmg, also the pushback on pox is mint without gettin risk

stone totem
#

It's not an insane option but it works with management

#

Def not as good as purgatus for crowds

tulip kettle
#

okay but like surely 1 cast taking you from 70 to 100 peril is just too much right?

zinc phoenix
upper sun
#

smite is only as good as your team is

pallid galleon

Just prob stating on 5 lightning slowest to clear horde since 1 full charge doesn't kill all, or even more than a couple its end drop n doesn't targetr closest so gotta point n drop n charge n drop to keep distance

it's a simple infinite cleave weapon

#

I wouldn't run it in a premade but it's good for pubs which can lack dps

shadow wigeon

The only change I'll make it Tranquility on melee-only mael, and Deflector isntead fo Slaughter if you need to carry some newbies just in case.

restive slate

Should Deflector be built in to Force Swords?

lethal lagoon
#

Ob with built-in Deflector would make the sword relevant again thumbsup_ogryn

restive slate

I just find the block effects of force sword really annoying yo look at

shadow wigeon
#

The most controversial but "I can't bear going back" is Essence Harvest. My buddy pushed me to try it, I was skeptical. It's so good on Surge it turns out, and barely use Tranquiliy anyway.

lethal lagoon
#

Also, fatshark inteded for force swords to have built in deflector, because they forgot to comment out their copy-pasted code when they released Illy and Demios

#

Illy with built-in deflector on release... man I only ran melee only builds

It was so fucking good

restive slate

Its my strong opinion that psyker should have more psychically involved weapons

Should I get Disrupt Destiny or Empowered Psionics?

shadow wigeon
ember orbit
#

I’ll be honest idk what builds are in this game I’m still new asf

#

Just going through the skill tree

shadow wigeon
#

I would avoid Disrupt Destiny for now then, unless you want to play gun psyker.

#

Empowered Psionics is generally good with all the Blitzes.
Many staff builds work well with Warp Siphon, one way or another.

#

You can't go too wrong just trying out weapons to find out what you like.

ornate hamlet
#

Disrupt destiny is a pain in the ass, but empowered psionics is pretty nice if you're not spamming your blitzes and spending the charges on trivial stuff

#

EP brain burst can chain one-hits on certain enemies, for example

idle plover
#

I found disrupt destiny with scrier and brain rup pretty nice

ornate hamlet
#

But if you were to use it anywhere for anything, it'd feel bad quickly

random jetty
#

can the purgatus staff crit?

shadow wigeon
ornate hamlet
#

Yeah, and it applies two stacks

random jetty
#

is the burning affact of the staff soulblaze?

#

like, the normal burning?

ornate hamlet
#

yeah, the funny blue fire

random jetty
#

i didnt know that and i have been playing this game since launch

#

so... can i combo with the soulblaze effects of the talent tree? Do they stack?

spice veldt
#

ye, they will all contribute to the same stack of soulblaze

#

the important rule to remember is that each method of Soulblaze application can apply up to a certain amount of stacks

ember orbit
spice veldt
#

so, suppose you have a >76% burn stat purgatus, which can apply up to 15 soulblaze stacks

#

let's say that you shriek and put 6 stacks onto some enemies, and then you spray your Purg for some time
at most, the enemies can only have 15 stacks

shadow wigeon
random jetty
#

does this apply to the purgatus staff normal kills?

spice veldt
#

but if you spray with Purg first and apply 15 stacks, and then you shriek, the enemies can attain 21 stacks

#

since venting shriek can apply up to 31 stacks

shadow wigeon
#

"Spray with purg" im uncomfortable somehow

But any weapon that has uncanny as an option, it's typically the best choice.

The low pen and lowish damage is pretty meh though

#

If you really wanna use mk4, I'd roll your own and save the melks

ember orbit
#

What staves are good and what do they do? I’ve never used one and I want to try it out

lethal lagoon
#

All 4 staves are good and function well in Auric Maels.

#

Purg is the worst of the bunch but still decent.

#

Voidstrike, Surge, and Trauma have their advantages and disadvantages, but Surge is weaker than Trauma and Void.

#

Both Voidstrike and Surge are really easy to roll a usable staff, they are also really easy to use, so that's a good starting point.

short lily
#

Why's surge worse again

vocal cliff
#

Adding to this is One thing to note with voidstrike is that it REALLY activates once you get your hands on the surge blessing, basically turning it into a delete button so long as you have a constant flow of Crits depending on your build, but even without it'll still do it's job, just not as much as with the blessing

analog agate
lethal lagoon
#

No real cleave either so while you are doing 1k to a single rager, a void or a trauma is doing 5k+ to multiple enemies plus that rager

#

Very low skill ceiling too

#

The only difference in DPS between you and another surge user is basic skills(like dodging dogs/trappers) and how hard you try.

#

There is a bit of minor skill in picking out elites and specials in a giant mixed horde, but it's not super hard.

shadow wigeon
#

Surge is not single target dps, it's multi target with CC, that is more mobile. Surge should be used balanced between removing things directly, and CC'ing to make a kill easy for your team, make room, or slow targets down. Crit bonus makes the bolt shot stronger than the other staffs as well, which should be used a lot.

#

And it's strongest at special removal because of how fast and easy the targeting is, along with the CC.

potent echo
#

I agree it's amazing at removing specials, but I wouldn't call it multi target whatthefuck_heresy

#

It's passable at killing elites if you choose illisi, but dont choose illisi, be stronger chadgryn

analog agate
#

Yeah, a pittance of dmg on the second guy with a stun doesn’t make it multitarget

#

But anything more it won't be enough

lethal lagoon

potent echo
#

Void has crazy CC lmao

lethal lagoon

shadow wigeon

Surge does great on all auric maels. Whatever your defintion of "realistic" is, comfortable top tier damage, max elite/special removal, and beating auric is realistic.

Surge with a decent player does great on all auric maels because end game content isn't hard

They did. 25 mil

shadow wigeon

analog agate

Ya

lethal lagoon

Oh I was kinda of close

So that's why I remembered 2.5

shadow wigeon
#

I guess people have just been spending it before they hit it then. Lots of folks who had 20+ when the patch dropped.

lethal lagoon
#

I guess at that point you just try to stock up on 380s of every weapon type everytime your gold hits max

shadow wigeon
lethal lagoon
#

Yeah 380 was a bit ambitous. I actually don't remember the last time I got one

Even 375+ with perfect blessing/perks. I've put 10 mil into just rolling revolvers before. It goes fast.

Got good Voidstrike and Columnus V builds already so next one id rather have not perfect but atleast good enough it doesnt feel too overshadowed by those because mediocre items

Oh wait

#

Dmg on purg doesn't do anything

#

Lol

#

Your good

plucky flax
#

I used to play with a <40% damage purga.

stone canyon
#

Okay thanks, buying it for future mat rich times when boredom causes to try out new stuff

summer prairie
#

the damage value doesn't scale but at 80% dmg it ticks every 0.32s and that staff maybe every 0.36s. Not a big deal but not entirely irrelevant (this is the pure dmg tick, not SB application tick)

plucky flax
#

True if I could have 1 stat as lowest it'd be warp resistance.

vestal fulcrum
plucky flax
#

Yeah. I struggle to build up to high peril with purga.

#

More damage more crit.

stone canyon
#

If id want something to try it would be Trauma anyway, not Purgatus, but ill take every shop opportunity to avoid buying masses of grey base items from Brunts

summer prairie
#

I tested a 80% dmg staff vs monster and it did 407dps while 40% did 366dps (no blessings/perks/talents)

#

admittedly you don't use purg like that

#

but should be the same for other targets

Im most of the day at home, but too busy to play, yet i have time to check shop every 1h or so and buy if something catches my eye, gotten decent set of base items to work on once i get more mats so far

plucky flax
#

Rip buying stuff from mobile.

#

Fs killed it

stone canyon
#

Yeah mobile would be even more handy

pweese Darktide Santa, gib Psykers a Psi-Veil with no collar or mask!

Just for that expect a reskin of the ugliest psyker outfit imaginable

hot zephyr

I'm suddenly feeling a lot better about using SG in my psylot build. I think skipping warp speed last time was a mistake. Makes going zoom zoom with the knife feel very good

#

Just had a good run retrying it on for size

summer prairie
#

pure SB is only around 240 dps unyielding at 15 stacks by the way, so over a third of the damage is from the direct damage (over 40% even)

hot zephyr
#

I feel like it probably would

summer prairie
#

I don't think so

stone canyon
#

Shame about the perk

#

Its true the Psiveil could use version with only the metal part, my female Psyker could be a dude now as nothing shows her gender underneath it

plucky flax
#

From grey. How is this shitty crafting system gave me a tier 2 blessing with a 378 base weapon.

hot zephyr
#

I mean, at least hadron didn't brick it

#

Bloodthirsty and flak are good

plucky flax
#

Not my style nooooo

#

I would have taken tier 2 deflector.

hot zephyr
#

Yeah I mean certain blessings the tier doesn't even matter. Brutal Momentum, Warp Flurry, Deflector, even some like Lacerate or Flesh Tearer you really just need T1 or T2 for it work

#

T2 flesh tearer baby

distant roost
#

76% is the breakpoint threshold

plucky flax
#

Lacerate t1 or t2 vs t4 is pretty big.

distant roost
#

does matter

#

a lot for bleed

#

Bleed is exponential

hot zephyr
#

Bleed stacks cap at 16 stacks

distant roost
#

yes

#

and it has shit damage below 12

hot zephyr
#

So T4 you get full stacks in two crits, and T2/3 you get full stacks on three crits

distant roost
#

and yea an extra crit is the difference between a dead rager or not

#

lacerate its even more apparent

#

as you sacrifice a weakspot hit for tickle damage on center mass

hot zephyr
#

Yes, if you look at the DOT damage in a vaccum it feels like it matters a lot

distant roost
#

If you look at it in a vaccuum, you'll also see most targets are dead in the hits to apply the bleed

hot zephyr
#

Reality is on anything less than a BoN or Plague Ogryn you'll probably not stack up full stacks before it dies anyways

#

Yeah we're on the same page there

#

Bleeds are for boss damage for psykers. It's a whole different game on Zealot, but that's not relevant here

distant roost
#

on zealot you dont need bleed blessin cuz scourge funny

plucky flax
#

Me recommend bleed on zealot whatthefuck_heresy

distant roost
#

run scourge, no need smh

plucky flax
#

I run scourge.

hot zephyr

He also plays with gore on maximum. He likes to paint the town red.

mystic burrow
#

i like red

#

chinese new year is coming we put red stuff all over our houses during those times

#

idk if the blood of heretics count, but im damn sure splattering my place with it

hexed geyser
#

Why is uncanny strike good on a ds mk4? I feel like i'm only hitting maniacs and unyielding with it anyway.

distant roost
#

Allows you to deal with armored targets

Maulers/Crushers namely

Why does my Psyker get the "do 90% to monstrosity with the most awkward skill in the game" penance, when it could be handed out to Zealot wielding Crucis Hammer instead?

does charge rate matter on voidstrike?
