Swap out Block to either Flak or Maniac (Maniac will let you one bang muties with H2, but it can be finnicky) Swap Executor for Slaughterer. Though not perfect, it will be more than workable

Slaughterer and unstable power if you're confident in sliding, deflector if not. Executor gets reset every time you use your special, so its not that good, whereas unstable power is a 20% power boost at 80 peril, and deflector is just good QoL early on, when you're still learning the movement of the game

You get outliers like decimator stacking per hit on a weapon that can get infinite cleave, but there's usually better stuff

On a counter point you do loose the Unstable power bonus rather quickly because of Battle Meditation as Illisi is a death machine
But yeah you usually have Unstable Power for the initial hits and then Slaughterer takes over so you don't have to worry about break points

All force swords have their best DPS on heavies which ignore all other armour types other than carapace (mauler head, crusher everything).
You only benefit from rending on attacks that deal less than the base damage.
Really the only use I got out of Uncanny is spamming Deimos L1 on a Crusher or Mauler's head
Since Slaughterer is already busted as is
To the point I'm considering putting executor instead
Why would you spam L1 on Deimos when you have H2. The only reason to use the L1 is to access H2

So what happens is when you proc uncanny, anything with Soulblaze stacks currently on it has its armour debuffed by Uncanny. (Maniac, Flak and Carapace), You can wipe whole Crusher squads by burning them and bonking one on the dome a couple times, this can easily quadruple the damage of any applied soulblaze (on armoured targets)
Crushers that land on their arse have 3 second stagger immunity after they get up but it takes like 3 or 4 seconds for them to get up so you can be elsewhere by that time
So it's hard to explain all the relevant context

- Firstly, there is no way to keep up the rending and the soulblaze you can do only the other
- Secondly, the easiest rending to keep up is Trauma's rending shockwave but it caps at +40%
- Thirdly, even with 100% rending (full uncanny strike) a 6 stack AB will not be even close enough to kill a crusher if you manage to keep it up

We've labbed this extensively. Use Purge to apply Soulblaze, bonk Crusher on dome, watch all armoured targets evaporate.
this follows the same general logic as using flamer and zealot F (though, the armor pen on zealot F is wholly unique in that for the purposes of damage numbers, it treats carapace as flak and flak as unarmored) in order to 1-mag any non-boss enemies
If that truly increases damage on other targets then there is a bug somewhere, since the last time I tested only crusher has armour against Soulblaze
although yeah, it only really does anything for soulblaze vs carapace

It very much might well be a bug, but the tech is seriously powerful. We did a run with one Trauma wi/Rending shockwave and one Purge, we didnt have to swap our weapons once though the whole run

Brittleness you get to max regardless of tier but yes with uncanny 4 and any tier of shockwave given enough hits it's 150%, but only on targets that take less than base damage in the first place
For shockwave the only difference is that with a T4 you can max it out in one hit

Curios are personal preference. I run 2 toughness 1 hp, some people run 3 toughness, some run 2 tough/health 1 stamina

I still don't quite understand push attack on force swords tbh. It feels unreliable
the push-attack is a single-target strong stagger

With slaughterer it clears hordes just fine actually, just isn't as overkill as illi

Obscurus was made obsolete by Deimos and Illisi.
Illisi is your horde focused one, always have it with a Slaughterer, the special on it deals good single target burst damage as well but heavy heavy is the top DPS (single and multi target) option. Against hordes you might want to use heavy light combo as it's a bit safer and perfectly horizontal but you loose out on some DPS compared to heavy heavy or light spam if you really gotta focus on dodging.
Deimos is the single target focused one where all your damage comes from the 2nd heavy. Ways to access it are:
- light heavy, repeat
- push into heavy
- push attack into heavy
- heavy heavy (don't use)
For Deimos you want Unstable Power and +Maniac so you can one tap mutant heads with that 2nd heavy like in the vide below. If you also want some horde clear on it, the light spam works wonders with Slaughterer. In other case you want to funnel the enemies in and light heavy repeat them to death.
With guns and surge, use Illisi. With Void use either Illisi or Deimos and finally with Purge and Trauma use Deimos. The Illisi and Deimos force swords are out performing all other melee weapons at the moment.

If you don't know how to quell cancel you should learn
The only way for void to get back to BB fast since it's still missing the cast finish -> BB hands animation chain
Other staves have the animation link so all you gotta do is swap to hands, but still quell cancelling is extremely useful on all staves, a bit less on purgatus
@steel flame imagine if surge had surge blessing, could actually make warp nexus + surge quell cancel LMB an option

The only thing with surge blessing is that you gotta be careful with the quell cancel timing. If you do it too early you will cancel the bonus shot on a crit.

Quelling input takes precedence over casting so no.
The input precedence is quell > cast > channel. So when playing with flurry staves you never have to let go RMB, just keep holding it and use LMB to cast and quell button to quell while holding RMB.
It feels easiest to be focusing on your r key imo

I have a macro to quell cancel and cast as fast secondary cast as possible. Even with that, the feat combination is just a bit underwhelming due to the 6 stack hidden limitation of Blazing Spirit. At least you can bump it up with AB.

Revolver falls off when you go into higher difficulties. It doesnt deal enough damage for the amount of ammo you get for it, and the damage tables are fucked against some enemies. Dreg ragers, for example, take less damage from a critical weakspot hit than a critical bodyshot hit

I tested again. Soulblaze does not benefit from rending/brittleness except against Crushers like I said. The fact that it melts other armoured targets is just because it deals 1.5x damage against flak, nothing to do with rending.
A single 6 stack AB only scratches the crushers. You basically need full staff stacks + AB on the crushers to have them get killed while smashing uncanny strike and that is the only use case for the uncanny strike. Even then, you need a 6+ stack of crushers with something you can safely bash on a head to get some benefits, so a very extremely specific scenario to get some value out of a blessing.
On top of that, I did not manage to solo 6 crushers with aggro while using the strategy, simply because it's unsafe to try to keep up the uncanny strike together with Soulblaze.
For these reasons, I don't believe uncanny strike is any good, you would be better off with something else, like deflector, slaughterer or unstable power.
I challenge you to complete a challenge and prove me wrong.
I made a baseline version of a "6 pack crusher challenge" which has two parts (A and B). This was done with my regular build so nothing there increases my damage against crushers specifically. Yes, you might do the part A a tiny bit easier with uncanny strike and +carapace damage, but by trying to complete it you can see how risky it is to go for constant melee hits, and there is no way to keep up the flames.
6 pack crusher challenge with a build where nothing was chosen with crushers in mind. Sets a nice baseline for comparing builds.
The obtained baseline times were 1min 30.51s for Part A and 40.65s for part B.

No, +20 maniac will also do, most important thing is to have Warp Unleashed and Unstable power 3 or 4 on it as well.
It's just the more buffs you have (warp charges, maniac damage perk, special damage perk...) the less peril you need for the one shot. Also depends on the rolls of the sword.

Voidstrike can help with range a little otherwise you just need to practice positioning. And don't be afraid to use ulti to even stagger groups of shooters if you need to move closer or somewhere safer.
Or find a team that doesn't aggro everything at max range
Problem with range enemies is there's a night and day difference between having capable vets who annihilate shooters, and vets who wait until they're being targeted

If you find a vet that will hold off until you're in purgatus range you can easily just burn them all to death before they can fire back. Good luck finding a vet with restraint though
Yeah it can be tough. I don't mind breaking los and just waiting a few seconds but consistently being pelleted in the back is annoying. You do get the good vets that don't miss and do a good job cleaning up once in a while though.
But there's been too many times were you just kinda have to cower and spam bb for a minute

When playing as spark โead, horg has the most trouble with 6 large lads walking up and removing me from the game
Either godroll trauma or surge
Base stats will have a total number up to 380, then perks have a number based on their level (1-4), then blessings get a number based on level (also 1-4)
So highest you can start with is gray at 380 but depending on what it is and what dump stats it can be lower. Then just add for whichever perks and blessings Hadron feels like giving you.
Trauma is goof AFAIK I haven't actually used it myself, surge is good assuming your team is there to kill them. Otherwise you can just force shove them to the ground and get enough space to bb.

Surge and trauma both work. Surge has the problem of RNG targetting for secondary targets but it deals ok'ish damage to crushers.
Trauma is more effective in killing them but you gotta learn how to use it since when you apply a strong stagger or a knock down on them they will be immune to all staggers 3 seconds AFTER they recover. So the best option is to blast, use your three dodges, then blast again once they are close. Blast too early and they don't get staggered and you will chuckle in danger.

And in that kind of situation always use your dodges in bursts. I strongly recommend installing numerical UI and enabling the dodge counter. Personally, I have everything else disabled from Numerical UI other than the dodge count and ammo colour for self.

This is why I use nexus spirit trauma. It's the most generalist staff you can get. Combined with Deimos mutant one shot there are no enemies I cannot handle.
If you upgrade to green and get a 4/4 perk, then blue with a 3-4lvl blessing it's a very good chance
If you are talking about crafting this doesn't seem to be the case but don't have raw data to back it up, only personal experience

Depends on the weapon and blessing combo you are going for. For force swords thats the warp resist. No need for it.
I pretty much only pull out the sword when there is a mutant incoming or to finish off a debunced hound.
I quell cancel a shit ton and have quietitude so my toughness and crit chance both benefit for generating unnecessary peril. Even my sword likes it (unstable power).
If there is an elite or specialist that I threw on my feet I might stab it to the head but most often I just keep the trauma blasting
Horg likes illis, can still one shot hounds and kill mutants reliably after 1 bb
I run a non-blazing spirit trauma and pair it with the Illisi. I prefer to melee in most cases because the stagger of Trauma is both a blessing and a curse, sometimes being a bit much in certain situations.
Illis takes care of pouncing hounds in an emergency great with a well timed swing

I use Illisi with guns and surge staff. But mostly I play with my Trauma + Deimos, it's nice for those hi intense shock troop missions where you can get a mutant train incoming. No time to BB all of them.

I like illis if im going surge staff, cause then the sword is nice to pull out for clearing hordes and general terms. if going purgatus I loke Deimor for more singletarget dmg (playing on damnation)
I enjoy using my melee as psykers way more than ranged. Idk if that's not the right way to play

in terms of optimality, having a melee focus isn't too far off especially with the existence of the illisi
i do find myself being too conservative with my staff though, getting killed because I was worrying about the trauma's stagger when I should've been worried about not dying

Only on Malice difficulty so far. Only lvl 22.
But I really love the revolver. Feels so..COOL
it is, but if suffers in hi-intensity damnation. too many elites too fast
and you will have to get consistent headshots
It's very fun to build veteran around revolver, cause their talents makes up for loads of it's shortcomings

I have no clue which perks and blessings would be optimal though and it can be expensive to invest for it and prob not as strong as investing in a good sword or staff first.

Running WITH trauma
Yeah the thing is, there is a certain delay after which when you quell cancel it will not cancel the shot. If you go too fast, it will at some point quell too early a couple times and at those points it will cancel the proc.
Basically to tune in the macro, you want to start at very slow, like so slow that it doesn't even cancel, and then make it faster and faster with a lot of testing in between to make sure it's not cancelling the shots.
It's a lot of work to get it right
And all of this for a blessing that is underwhelming
And you know what? I'm having fun
But yeah I worked my way down to 100m/s in testing. It starts getting inconsistent at 95

I run blazing spirit with warp nexus 4, you cannot run blazing spirit with anything else.
Warp Flurry + Rending Shockwave is the recommended option because it's easier to play effectively and has the better theoretical DPS under ideal conitions. Trauma doesn't get a lot of crit damage bonus and with Flurry you go between 0 and 100 with your peril so that's why Rending Shockwave is better as it increases your teams damage against the beefier targets (trauma itself cannot benefit from it as it ignores armour).
The only downside of it is you have to run Inner Tranquility (with Warp Battery) in order to get the Flurry going in the first place, so you will miss out on Warp Unleashed and the important break points it brings for BB.
With Blazing Spirit and Warp Nexus 4 (T4 mandatory) you have the ability to apply 3 stacks of Soulblaze (caps at 6) statistically every 3rd - 4th to everything that gets touched by the explosion. This enables you to deal better with the biggest weakness of trauma: ranged enemies. In addition, you are not forced to place the epicenter on top of enemies to deal damage, you can create a safe space at your team's feet or a deployed med kit and keep enemies at bay while dealing ok damage. Since you are not using flurry you can also pick up Warp Unleashed, which helps you to get those sweet BB break points and helps to one shot mutants with Deimos, the only non-boss enemy Trauma cannot control.
But in order to get the Warp Nexus 4 Blazing Spirit to work, you need a near max blast radius and charge speed and you have to learn to quell cancel and constantly play at 80-100 peril so in takes a lot of practice as well to not blow yourself up when things get heated.
I can second this. You are very much teetering on a razor edge the entire game, though it does produce fantastic results well worth the effort
If they ever decide to buff blazing spirit on staves I can easily see it surpassing flurry shockwave in the future

This is what I use for blazing trauma. Pygex prefers warp battery in t5
Personally I prefer having wildfire to ramp up the fire stacks faster on big hordes, though warp battery has better dps at 6 stacks and AB has more burst damage with 6 sb vs 4
But both work and come in close to each other at the end of the day
I run 311112, quell cancelling is when you cancel the after cast animation with the quell input and then release the quell input to charge a new cast again. When done correctly this will greatly reduce the time when you can cast again.
Well thank you! I use both Kinetic Delfection and Kinetic Shielding depending on if my build is a front liner or not. Kinetic Deflection combined with Deflector allows you to get out of very nasty situations without taking any chip damage and is the best revive tool in the game. Tanking a Daemonhost is more of a meme, if you can move on circles you can just outrun the Daemonhost by spamming Illisi/Deimos dodges, easier to do with Deimos (check out Meemos from my videos if you want to see how that looks like).

on crusher if safe and into butt of mutie if they've grabbed a friend and you want to confirm a safe kill, otherwise light heavy combo better for every situation
it has decent stagger and 200% damage to flak which is nice for 1v1ing enemies and flak (such as the assassination boss's hp)
if you can hit weakspots, I'm pretty sure the special and l1h2 DPS was comparable against flak? I didn't really compare the DPS and don't know which one is better, though the l1h2 at least won't lock you in place

What you can also do with purge is just RMB through and then start spamming LMB, RMB makes sure everything around them burns away and LMB can stagger crushers if you don't have all aggro on you

ragers aren't too scary to me ragers aren't too bad to me since their individual attacks don't do that much damage and their combos always slow their movement speed
maulers and crushers are insanely scary to me because I tend to whiff my dodges
like in one of my recent games, I whiffed two dodges against two maulers and just got two-shot from full hp and toughness to getting downed

trauma is the most versitile staff psyker has right now. its got arguably the best crowd control, being able to stun and knock down every non boss enemy in the game minus mutants allowing you to lock them down for the team to deal with. it also has amazing horde clear being able to solo hordes easily in only a few seconds as well as chunking the bigger enemies like maulers, orgyns and ragers
if you can get a good one and get used to how you aim it, it very much outclasses void at this point in time
if you get flurry you can just spam the thing at stupid speeds and its great, there is another for rending thats really good
best all around rn is warp flurry and rending shockwave,
there is also a trauma build with nexus 4 and blazing spirit 3 that also slaps but its not as easy to use
