mental vortex
#

I would say test both if charge rate doesnt seem to hurt too much you should upgrade since higher blessing tier

dawn orchid
#

You generally just spam as fast as you can with surge so charge rate isn't quite as important

mental vortex
#

yeah true

#

you dont have to charge to the max

idle bay
#

If you just want to stun - there is no need to charge Surge. Charging is for killing Armored Ogryns

mental vortex
#

hm

#

depends on the team I guess

dawn orchid
#

Left also has a better starting blessing

mental vortex
#

if they can actually kill stuff you are stunning quickly left it is

#

but you cant really trust pubs

dawn orchid
#

Surge staff has a -75% damage modifier to unarmored enemies btw

#

And is not particularly good for hordes that are in your face, so I'd consider terrifying barrage a wasted blessing on it

mental vortex
#

maybe we will be able to change blessings

#

but even then bad blessing tier

sturdy meadow
#

the charge time diff is 0.3s at best

#

and spamming, it hits half bar anyway

#

the damage rng is so wild

#

full charges make almost no diff imo

idle bay
sturdy meadow
#

in the meat grinder, 2 spams > 1 full charge

idle bay
#

I also though that Run and Gun blessing is useless up until i started popping head with it on the run πŸ™‚

dawn orchid
idle bay
#

It's still better than zzaping poxwalkers anyway

#

First thing to learn - is to ignore existence of Crosshair for LMB bolt - it makes you waste time.

#

worst crosshair ever

dawn orchid
#

Mmmm, I'm testing it in the psykanium on heresy and it takes two bolts to kill a single groaner without a headshot, 3 for dreg bruisers. It can kill a poxwalker on one shot but that might be because I have unarmored damage on my staff

#

I wouldn't consider this efficient horde clear by any means

#

I can actually kill them faster with surge spam

idle bay
#

Bolt should kill any rank-and-file enemy with a single headshot - poxwalker, scab, dreg - does not matter.

dawn orchid
#

Headshot being the key word, highly unreliable on the staff

idle bay
#

Practice a bit - they will land naturally

#

Like Darktide have some kind of aim-assist. And when hit registration is not broken again πŸ™‚

dawn orchid
#

That's great if it works for you, but I wouldn't consider this to be generally reliable by any means.

idle bay
#

Also - Bolt even if it hits floor- creates shitload of Suppression.

LMB is really for a quick stagger

for horde clear, I cast Axe

Ans suppression ofc

sturdy meadow

mk V axe + brutal momentum + block/shove/swing is efficient horde clear

idle bay
faint heron
idle bay

And then comes the Axe πŸ™‚

#

Less Axe swinging to do after LMB spam πŸ™‚

dawn orchid
#

Seems like 700% more effort to kill things with lmb than just to spam surge

faint heron
#

If I saw a Psyker left click spamming a surge staff at a horde I'd kick him

idle bay
#

Can't even use LMB spam - ha!

#

Play zealot or something

faint heron
#

I couldn't think of a less efficient way to kill hordes

dawn orchid
#

I mean, if you can land headshots 100% of the time with lmb on moving targets while also being shot at and attacked, then by all means

idle bay
faint heron
idle bay
#
  1. Zaap - to kill 5-6 of them and get to 90% peril
  2. wait from them to kill them with axe
  3. thin them with LMB and then CHARGE at them with an AXE
dawn orchid
#

Fun fact, if you stun the front side of a horde, it'll interrupt the pathing of things behind it and get in their way.

idle bay

I'm more often play Malice and it's 3/1 Plasteel/Dalamantie. With occasional Heresy

dawn orchid
deft fiber
#

Yes, but it's, as you stated, depends on how much you roll.

idle bay
near wyvern

Running herecy and damnation you get around twice the plasteel compared to diamantine, however, when you upgrade, you spend around three times the plasteel compared to diamantine.

manic needle
#

What difficulty do you typically play on, out of curiosity?

idle bay
#

Malice mostly, with occasional heresy

manic needle
#

Ahh yeah that explains it

#

On heresy+ your chokepoint becomes Plasteel since you get a lot more diamantine

#

then the big hurdle becomes how much more plasteel everything costs

idle bay

Yesterday i had a fun heresy speedrun on axe/surge psyker with 3 random knife Zealots πŸ™‚

I know this is a dumb question but I'd like to learn about the numbers, cause I have yet to really pay attention to them; which force sword would be more ideal to use?

austere estuary
#

FS does well out of basically everything except warp res which matters a bit less

#

finesse is a big multiplier for FS, up to 2.3x damage on weakspot/crit at 80%

#

and first target is another chunk

#

First target a big deal for force charged attacks iirc

#

generally I look for damage/finesse/first target, then mobility and warp res as the least important

austere estuary

I mean it also just has 17 more stats overall

robust sierra

I am still obviously leveling so it doesnt matter too much

100% will be 100%

when we get it

cyan notch

you can quell with hands to 97% if you want to continue bbing

austere estuary

^

#

not worth swapping if chaining bb

robust sierra

no

but wepswap quell wepswap when it's just 3% you're quelling

is slower

summer prairie
#

Thunderous (brittleness on hit) works with Purg dots

robust sierra
#

oh ok

#

at higher % it's ideal to swap

cyan notch
#

you only need to quell 3% from 100% to use bb again so no point swapping if youre continuing to use bb

austere estuary
#

re FS finesse, one hits for 189, the other hits for 152 on reaper head

#

perk + finesse pretty much only diff

#

if we also have lower first target, the difference is bigger

#

146, and that's all three also having a good damage roll at least

#

warp res being low can be very desirable on force sword too, since quick swapping weapon to rapidly warp charge means if you had 0% warp res, you could go 0-90 peril in a couple of seconds

which is faster than chain bb or trauma even

clear heath
#

incredible

#

Wonder what they'll change the thresholds to if they fix it

summer prairie
#

The default for critical is 80% and extreme 97%. It is possible they changed critical from 80 to 97 because critical is actually to determine whether you blow up when using a staff

#

Extreme should probably just be lowered to 80, not sure if extreme threshold is used for anything else

#

Doesn't critical sound higher than extreme anyway

clear heath
#

The thresholds for the blessing are used for other things? I was expecting them to be coded separately

summer prairie
#

They are all defined along with some other warp charge/venting related values

clear heath
#

Hmm, do you think it's likely for them to add the 5th stack somewhere?

summer prairie
#

I think the game may also use the thresholds for the peril visual effects

clear heath
#

well, below 30% is when quell slows down, and 50% has a sound effect for passing it, so i assume that's what those were meant for

clear heath
summer prairie
#

No that's defined in the blocking function, it's >90%

clear heath
#

imagine fatshark just removes the stack at 97%

#

3 stacks only

summer prairie
#

warp nexus says 5 stacks, no?

cyan notch
#

yea but this is unstable peril right

summer prairie
#

well it's for both, testing was with unstable power because testing crit stacks reliably takes a lot of... time

#

they both use the same function

cyan notch
#

it seems like its 3% per stack and the 9% threshold is the same as 12% threshold

#

your damage is 3% 6% 6% 12%

summer prairie
#

the post has the thresholds from the lua code

cyan notch
#

yea but even lowering the 97 to say 80 or whatever that would just fix the 9% value

so theres no missing 5th stack

near wyvern
# mighty pike Prior to this I'd like to ask what the difference is between the two, actually. ...

There are three.

Mk II and Mk IV have cleave, Mk V has extra defence stat instead of cleave.

The defence stat gives more dodge distance wich is additive with the mobility stat. It also gives you sprint efficient allowing you to sprint faster for longer. However, it also rolls for dodge counts which overlaps with your mobility roll (you don't get mobility + defence count dodges but the one that has most of it)

Between Mk II and IV, other one has 3 slash light chain and 2 stab heavies, the other has a 4 slash light chain with 1 stab and 1 overhead heavy.

The one with 2 stabs deals more (single target) damage with the heavies (if I recall this is Mk II), especially to flak.

Mk V has a different light chain, 2 slash into 1 overhead and the heavy attack chain is 2 overhead strikes.

That would be 5 aquillas pls.

mighty pike

I have no Aquilas but I can offer you a peril of the warp

near wyvern

@frail berry

As I said it depends what you want to do with it.

I run mine with Purgatus as a mobility stick, so I am looking at Mk II or Mk IV with the following stat priority:

  1. Mobility
  2. Damage
  3. Finesse
  4. Penetration
  5. Cleave targets
  6. Cleave damage

And for perks, +maniac and +flak

Blessings, rampage and shred

Flak seems like a useful perk for any weapon so far

I'm crashing when loading into the mission. Pretty often, but other than that and few server errors, game runs fine. But we can't see a full picture since we have no data on it.

just does weird shit like stutters when i turn or weird shit with input buffering or whatever, buttons just dont work sometimes

long wharf
#

thankfully I load the game up pretty fast

#

I keep all my steam games on an NVMe drive

tender terrace
#

hit g key, grenade don't come out, hit sprint, doesn't spring, r, doesn't reload

#

etc

#

cause shit seems like its taking time to catch up with what is actually happening

There are definitely some small server issues, at least. Client taking forever to pull up the current shop rotation, weapon and curio inventories loading just as slow or sometimes showing up completely empty until you reload, etc. Just had my 3rd hard crash in the past 2 weeks an hour or so ago too.

Of course crashes are local issues, not network. Still, warrants being tracked.

tender terrace
#

screens not tearing, game runs smooth at 70 fps, it just does weird shit

#

someone smarter than me explained how its related to netcode and input buffering or whatever

#

inputs are dumb in this game tho, like why can't i just hold e and it register that i am trying to revive someone instead of having to deliberately hit E on the target

deft fiber
#

Well, synchronising data between server and client i guess, since you are in lobby with a bunch of people.

#

And not registering inputs since packet losses or whatever reason why server hanging on certain operations.

#

And for sure people on wifi will suffer the most, since wifi is a halfduplex connection which can either send or receive info at one moment.

long wharf
#

I don't mind being wifi for mobile devices, but in my house, I run a hardline for every device I care about network performance for

deft fiber
#

That's reasonable for sure. Anyway, wifi bad for online game in 99% of cases.

#

Other than that you can't do anything if routing/netcode/server's hardware bad.

teal kite

The green outfit that head piece comes with is cool except the pants so I changed em out to the black armored ones

Wish I could wear the bionic eye with this head piece

tender terrace

I'm not a fan of any of the psyker outfits in the money shop

north cradle

And yeh I have a plan for the Malice self-destruct

long wharf
#

I highly recommend you don't try to chase penances in pugs

#

plenty of people in LFG channel wanting to do penances

#

just get a group together specifically for it

teal kite
#

V tru

tender terrace
long wharf
#

the best trick for penance chasing is to go into it knowing you aren't going to be completing missions

#

find a map with the right starting area(s) and farm that

if you use a camo on your force sword it gets longer by six inches
