yes, damage only affects direct staff damage, has nothing to do with soulblaze (the dot).

from what I've seen, that affects how fast the direct damage ticks, which is entirely separate from the rate mentioned in the Burn stat and soulblaze in general
technically this can be relevant, because the faster your direct damage ticks the more chances you have for a crit (and crits apply 2x stacks)
however
i saw some re levant stuff on how purge crits work yesterday, lemme see if i can find it again
testing the difference between the output of ~30% and 70% damage staffs with similar burn stats, the total damage you inflict by a full charge secondary is affected very little by the damage stat
short answer, damage is the dump stat (though I wouldn't be happy with a number below 40% personally)
Burn controls the vast majority of your damage

i will see if i can dig it up, can't recall where i saw it, but essentially what it said was when a crit triggers on purge, it lasts for a set number of "hits", then purge is unable to crit again for a set number of hits

i heard it got bugged from the last patch yesterday
but I've seen up to 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 crits from a single purgatus secondary
this language specifies a "salvo"
which is multiple shots without resetting, like a melee chain
and we know right clicks currently can't "chain" probably due to bug
so this may change purge behavior if they fix stuff
purgatus shoots projectiles and that's the salvo

the only staff quell speed matters on is voidstrike
quell matters the least on void of any staff
for everything else you just overcap and then use ult
but it is not particularly important for any staff either imo

i don,t really think it's a bad advice. it's basically the only option that allows you to save a situation where things go wrong. because at that point, you'll have trouble guaranteeing kill or warp charge generation

i ditched the soulfire build and just slapped purge on my normal setup

i basically never used deflection before and i don't really feel like it drastically alters my playstyle

Dagger is so comfy though with good rolls. The push attack is incredibly fast and one-shots essentially all non-elites/specials. Dreg bruisers need some help
i have like 5 360+ daggers ive tried to roll up and hit absolute trash blessings on them all
a few people in here really like a dagger loadout, sounds like it's pretty viable

It's more fun than the axe, has better mobility and is also very safe in horde

Punch, stab, stab, slash
It's mainly used as a mobility tool but stab headshots can deal pretty good damage
Plus it somewhat goes through armor
you can just push stab spam if it's a good roll
it has the same damage profile as the heavies, is faster and pushes
doesn't have to be a perfect roll with some perk help, weakspot damage lets you hit the breakpoints fairly easily

yea I was mostly focused on getting great gear for my preferred build and penances

I finally hit level 25 on my psyker, I would get warp battery because I run tranquality, but I feel like communion RNG can be hit or miss and get times where I flame staff into a crowd for 20 seconds and not get a charge which resets my stacks, so i'm tempted to get flayer

it reduces peril build up yes... but also your quell speed, it actually reduces the amount your f refunds which is... weird
All I know is that when I tested it out, the CDR worked once and couldn't get it to proc until the next full CD

I've tried to pair dagger+void and really liked it. Any advices for dagger perks and blessings? I mostly use it for movetech and elits in CC
i like them but with how fragile we are it doesn't make a huge difference

I do think that two of the level 30 feats removing all your charges on ult use kind of has anti synergy with the rest of the tree, but I think the first two are the big things

i like using middle with void as well cause it helps clear trash and you can focus on shooting elites or bb them
if ur having a lot of trouble with elites the 3rd option is better imo

6 charges let's you kill everything bellow elites if you have ascending blaze
the shield
bb one also generates charge. so that's neat. not bad for consistency
level 30 I like the first just to clear more peril, 2nd is only good with purgatus, 3rd is always fine as well

that + the first option on 30 gives alot of peril clearing
while you are blasting away with void, especially if you have the GREAT blessing of 4% peril reduc on weak spot hits
with those 2 combined you can permanently keep blasting charges into hordes
The one which applies 4 soulblaze stacks let's you pick elites very effectively using purgatus since it can go beyond the 15 stacks staves have
every elite dies due to focussed dmg, the dots are so useless imo not enough dmg
and on diff 1-4 there are not enough elites

Has anyone gotten a good FS with blazing spirit?
80s in the 3 dmg stats, I love the slaughterer and the dmg vs carapace and unyielding 2 hits every ogryn and mauler with 1 or 2 headshots

blazing is only semi useful vs monsters, for the rest you want high weak spot hits vs maulers and ogryns

trauma staff is as its name suggests, a staff that inflicts trauma... on you
that the stagger range and dmg range isnt identical is such a joke
and the stagger breakpoints arent well calibrated on damnation at all, and the peril cost is way too high
if they match areas, reduce peril by half on 2ndary, and increase stagger on 2ndary max charge and minimal charge by 20% its very very very good
got a 505 trauma staff from the shop with 380 stats for the day they buff them haha

I don't run it. honestly think the best use case for 6-stack AB is to 1-shot gunner packs
shouldn't waste it on hordes really
considering you can kill an entire room by pressing 1 button, its good
gives an otherwise limited weapon loadout a solid way to wipe out ranged
only kills trash mobs (which isn't nothing, but not really significant) and gunner packs (much more important). I don't think it kills anything but the squishiest specials (if that), and certainly no elites... by itself anyway
its usually trash and gunner packs that end up causing a team to lose

I think both are valid, it's just what your team is doing that changes the perspective, I suppose.
if whoever is dealing with the trash is well-protected by his gunner/elite-killer, it almost feels like the horde itself is just a meme.
but if the rest of them are too busy thumb-sucking to kill the muties and such, that horde fighter is about to watch his three teammates and himself get stomped

Played on Heresy with random players. Started as iconic team one of each class. Then Vet and Shouty dropped out and were replaced by 2 psykers. So it was Shield Ogryn who actually knew how to use it properly, and Surge + Purge + Void Pskers. By the Emperor that was a hell of a fun! 🙂

I think most of the time quell speed, but if you're running FS it's certainly nice to have as the staff quell speed will likely be your fastest form of it
Right, I usually play dueling sword! Do we know what's the quell speed on regular weapons?
in that case quell speed is definitely less important. passive quell on non-force weapons is nearly as fast as active quell with an FS
it also makes quietitude really strong, because you will be quelling quickly any time you're using melee and getting that turned into toughness

it's 59 damage + 20% to unarmored (so around 67 ish damage on hoard mobs), while the legendary is 55 damage on hoard mobs but has significant extra crit chance when hitting multi targets with cleave i think?

vet is probably still the best class since it's so overtuned, but psyker ain't far once you have what you need

For anyone who's used both extensively: can a good purg clear hordes as fast as void deletes them? I know the regular attack on purg has the useful stagger, but I'm having a hard time figuring out why purg is so popular. The playstyle is kinda fun, but my zealot friend says it's hard as shit to see when I'm blasting a horde that he's in, haha.

quell and warp res are nice to haves, less essential than the first two. damage is the dump stat (thouogh I wouldn't go with anything below 40%)

from what I recall, the way people use this axe is light>push as a loop, so it's one of the few that makes great use of limbsplitter
you can do that, or just spam push attacks which doesn't count as a chain
Yeah people generally just spam push attacks on it
It has a great cleave push attack that hits an extra target
It costs stamina but we don't use stamina for blocking anyways so it's spammable and safe

Yeah that will work. It's an incredibly safe way to play. So much so that you have to be careful that you don't fall into bad habits.

antax is def very useable with decent base rolls even with random blessings
you want its cleave stat above 50% for the extra target it adds but other than that you can have it as a dump stat

realistically the only real benefit that comes to mind is that it's got great movement, but that stat is pretty low for that one
but I also don't use knife unless I'm rushing or playing the one specific bleed zealot, so pay me no mind if you know any other uses that make more sense.

ascendant blaze as a given, the others can vary.
If you prefer just consistent stacks, flayer is still an option. battery is great for the 6 stacks, but there's reasonable arguments for overload, too.
it's a sizeable range. about 8m. or what I think is 8m. there's a gif somewhere but usually if an elite is in the room with you, it should reach.
and because anything that dies with soulblaze should count to ascendant blaze, you build up warp charges fairly quickly
I'm a voidstrike user, normally. I do think purgatus is fine, though. My issue is that I play this game with gamma tuned to the max and when I'm casting the fire, I can't see in front of me at all.
I tend to find purgatus also conflicts in its roles in a group with the fairly common flamer zealots running around.
