for levelling and learning the ropes, the devil's claw sword is really useful for improving your dodging and reaction to attacks

its special is a parry that'll stun and hurt enemies

for weapons, the flamethrower is always useful, as are both the bolt pistol and the bolt rifle

the bolters have a new variant that doesn't go through enemies, it explodes in an aoe

and at lower levels you can just center-mass the whole group and kill em all in a couple pops

the bolt pistol is for pulling off meme-tier trickshots, it's hyper accurate without aiming and I swear the gun will just give you shots you would've missed using other guns

the bolt rifle in the new variant also only fires a single round from the hip, not that double tap nonsense

and magdumping into crushers with a full bolter is practically free therapy

the crusher's also great for handling big packs and big enemies both, its detonation sends anything flying

and eviscerator cuz god damnit it's warhammer 40k use the chainsaw sword

the new eviscerator variant is also super straightforward to use

light attacks are left right cleaves and heavy attacks are auto-revving overheads

personally I don't use the knife, duelling sword, and regular axes so no help there

right on, you've got your start

as for mid-rank talents, the incendiery grenade is really helpful

so are stun grenades but they're more of a situational use so best to not worry about knowing when to throw em just yet

the zealot charge is same as oldschool so that might be the ultimate to start with

personally I run the stun/heal holy relic but I enjoy playing more of a support role

it lets you push pause on any fight, for ten seconds, once a minute or so

let the whole team find its feet

it's not terrible to scorll down to the bottom of the talent tree, decide which of the three you want to try first

and then just work that side of the tree up

and the basic talents in the first third of the tree, before you pick your grenade

those are almost always useful no matter what

can stack up on most all of those and get a couple ranks as a generalist then see what you feel like you're lacking and reassess then

nobody's gonna bark at ya for not being 110% as you rank up, most people at that rank are frankly illiterate and can't type it out even if they wanted to

off the top of my head though, the talents that return toughness for hits and kills, those help a lot especially if you use a weapon that's good at horde clear

the one that gives you toughness if you're in range of other enemies is helpful too cuz it regens immediately and you won't get caught getting hit with ZERO toughness at least

the one that gives more damage for ogryn and bosses, awesome

so is the one for extra ranged damage if they're close to you

especially if you use the flamer or bolter

toughness when you dodge is a godsend too

grab those and consider any leftover points free to play with, get some ranks, and then trim down what didn't work or you didn't like and it should be enough to get you to your chosen end skill

and just focus on learning how enemies swing at you and listening for the whoosh sound that means someone's behind you about to hit you

a lot of the graphical options don't add up to the low fps too, from my tinkering with it at least

like, shadows on low from ultra is maybe 10 or 20 fps
