Im not keen on Martyrdom, and a lot of my choices are based on trying to make him feel noticably different to other characters. I have a thing where whatever the class I end up making "a berserker" so went with the Chorus for that reason really.

Both are but that's because people play evis differently.
Ij is more for the simpler playstyle of mk15, which lacks the power of mixed horde destruction mk3 perfect strike has but it has pretty decent single target. Ij also feels good because of the bonus it provides to movement, including dodges.
Piety is mainly used with mk3 and perfect strike to consistently chew through carapace hordes, you have a ridiculous amunt of cleave with ridiculous uptime due to piety. At best, with shred + scourge + piety, this build reaches 80% crit chance.

As for martyrdom, i understand

It's a little early for martyr if you just started taking zealot seriously anyways
