There was intention behind splitting up on that finale. Provided people can hold their own, splitting was a good move there.

Tldr we were caught in an infinite horde loop and we couldn't break through.

I used chorus to leave the Psyker by themselves to go rescue the guy who was downed.

(Psyker was lagging so following was hard for them, I also was chasing down a trapper since I was running out of ammo which is not great when dealing with specials interlaced with hordes)

It's just that it's based on your heat level which seems kind of eh. You're not even getting the max benefit until you're using the weapons for more than a couple swings - and sometimes you want more front loaded damage.
