#veteran-class

You can use it while sprinting and it won't slow you down
Typically used as an opener
Ive got down a pretty good gunner-vet build. Running recon las, refined with crit chance and crit damage, run the crit on next weakspot hit blessing, and crits consume no las ammo perk for vet. You can just hold down the trigger for a good while.
Crit damage is a pretty bad choice but otherwise people have been enjoying that concept for a longtime.
Recon Lasgun has bad crit damage. The reason you run crit for it is infernus
I'm running crit so it doesn't consume ammo on shot and I can shoot for a very long time.
Crit damage as a stat is still dogshit
Because if your normal hit is 100, and critical hit is 130, +10% crit damage is not 143 as you'd think, it's just 133 because it adds that 10% on the difference of damage between crit and normal
And recon lasgun as everyone else told you has bad crit damage
but that would require using Antax, and many (including myself) are too used to Rashad to swap to Antax...
temu hive scum setup
This. Unfortunately hella accurate. Value Brand Scab Gunner
Whew good thing I am only running crit so it doesn't consume ammo as has been said like 3 times already.
You literally said you're using a crit damage perk

Im so sorry you cant read.
Crit chance on next weakspot.
I did say I do one of the refinements as 10% crit damage
I'm so sorry you're too dumb to remember what you write
How does it feel to go through life that challenged?
You misread it ya dope
I feel fine. You've got the reading comprehension of a toddler
I misread sure
Accurate ogryn sticker. You're about as smart as one.
writes "refined with crit chance and crit damage"
refuses to accept
abuses instead
Average redditor IQ
yeah Sar is right, don't take crit damage
Serves me right trying to converse with somebody who builds crit on weakspot blessing on recon las

Literally the line right before you went on about your crit rant.
You absolute blockhead.
Maximizing crit chance not damage
To benefit from the veteran perk crits consume no ammo for las weapons.
There ya go, step by step for ya. If ya get lost refer to the first line.
if you're taking headhunter over dumdum to maximize crit, it ain't worth it
I think I have dumdum on as well. That's more close damage on repeated shot?
well dropping infernus also isn't worth it
headhunter is a solid third choice for blessing options, alas we only have two blessing slots
Ive run both. I think I did Headhunter Infernus on one run and Infernus DumDum my most recent
Ive been tinkering. But the primary goal is to crit as much as possible to consume as little of my magazine to maximize shot output.
The damage from the crits I couldn't care less about, just that the shot does crit.
is it ever worth trying to kill a mauler/crusher/similar with ranged damage?
Depends on situation/weapon/build
Crusher are 99% no
Maulers with their flak chest can sometimes be argued that you can
Maulers for sure
Crushers only with few selected weapons
Otherwise you are just wasting ammo
1% is bazooka, needler and revolver?
Helb0re too
crit mk2b bolter is a go
Pining cav or Deadshot surgical?
This is very strong but the latest meta research has discovered +2stam perk to be superior
Awesome. I'll give that a whirl my next run.
Probably still more useful than crit damage
Meta on scum
Only slightly and in the hands of a gaming expert
I remember back before the talent tree rework, ES buff and recon las buff, someone here used to play Deadshot VIc
Was very funny
Idr who though
If damage was my concern perhaps. Luckily as long as I have 3 teammates and none of them like TheSar I should be fine even in Maelstrom.
One of the regulars
Now this is a winners mindset
It's a team game, gotta work for the unit.
That’s true. It’s why I play support smite bubble
I admire the commitment to the bit
That sounds like a fun and solid build
Yup. It’s not about dps, it’s about ccing the poxwalkers so they can’t surround the team
And occasionally picking off the snipers. Those left unchecked are tedious to say the least.
Can’t forget those for sure
This is why I take 3 wound curios too
none of it matters if the team doesn't pick you up
Honestly why I used to run revive shout forever ago. In a pinch it was real handy. Especially if we had a zealot already providing excess tougness.
But now just having the boosted revive speed is more than enough
revive shout 💀
hmm, should i take the shout that revive allies but is riddled with drawbacks or the one that prevents them from going down to begin with?
honestly that shout perk needs to be remade from the ground, there is no real decision to make there
You can also just shout and revive during the stagger anims
In a Maelstrom mission all the gold toughness in the world can't keep you up sometimes. However I don't run the shout anymore cause I can still revive normally.
That too
to add to the insult
Of course they will, I’m support
lol
good point
I kinda fail to see it though. It seems to stagger about the same as a regular light attack of Rashad - and it's nowhere near "quick" at all, it has this irritating delay before it hits, and also kinda wonky when it comes to aiming
it's just aura farming
You don't even need it tbh the push attack does enough stagger for the situations that need it
shout is just kinda boring
Can't argue there. I prefer Exe Stance.
based i like support stealth
is it generally recommended to power up the power sword before every swing?
It's definitely more lethal, but I wouldn't deem it necessary on base chaff.
yes for every attack
even on chaff it doesnt have great cleave if youre not focusing a bit on melee
the loadout is power falcion with plasma gun
you'll have to power it up
basically mandatory
That's POTENT damn.
unless it's like a poxwalker or something
Doesn't even oneshot poxwalkers unpowered right
its so based
My usual loadout is Helbore Lasgun w/ power sword or sapper shovel
But as of late Ive been branching out.
I enjoy the shotgun variant with slugs as it's base ammo and a big buckshot round as the special.
Ilike that
huh okok
Power Falchion might work better for ya. Its just turn on and swing until you overheat or swap
Good compared to what
Compared to power sword I imagine.
Power sword enhanced swings are more powerful, for what I can tell. Power Falchion provides a longer window of power attacks.
oh thank god its got an overheat mechanic
I'd probably take shovel over PFalc still tbh
Shovel or taxe yeah
That makes sense actually. Most of my builds like to focus my ranged weapon.
Shovel is a wonderful weapon ngl
Its just such a solid all rounder
Good impact. Really helps keep them off ya
Chainaxe definitely has it charms, but it's never my goto melee.
Lol it's fiesty. I like it against things like ragers and maulers.
I got used to the mechanic. I wanted to use the eviscerator on zealot more as well.
It's rough.
you don't need to latch most of the time tbf
i was a bit confused by the power sword
Turn it on, swing three times, turn it on again
If it's a crusher turn it on, push attack, light
Yeah but when you do it feels awful
When it comes to Execution Stance Vet, is it better to just boost toughness, or should I boost my health a bit too?
oops i wrote this while dead then i got resed
talking about curio options?
Yeah
One 3 stam, one 21 health, one 17 toughness is very normal
What does Stamina do for me?
I use 3 toughness myself, but alot fo people do 2 tough 1 hp
A lot, vet is asthmatic
more push attacks/blocking/sprinting
weapon/play style dependent
I don't think I'd ever not run hp on vet
I like it on scum too
98 hp spooks me
its decent for havoc, I am testing path's curio option for havoc (fatmangus vet). And I've been liking it
tanking 2 bursters
like 130 toughess and 220 hp
I like having one of my curios be a +1 wound just to make sure I have a little breathing room, particularly for someone like vet
heretical take: 3x health
I feel like there's a health Renaissance in the community rn
you will eventually grow out of using wounds since they lower your survivability
I've seen 3x hp getting run on a lot of classes
it's kinda
math
uh yeah, basically i have been having a harder times when swarmed
Tbf that was the same logic people used on "don't run health only run toughness"
I'm not complaining, I just think it's amusing
no actually
like
I always ran hp curios
it's 2 parts rly
maybe its just that i am not supposed to be swarmed (dont know if possible), but it feels like i dont have great opportunities to press power and if i dont, then the weapon kinda sucks
the first part is, does +% toughness from curios really matter (and if they do, how much do u actually need)
knowing how to make the tech to turn it on faster + finding the opening to do so comes with time
the second part is, what perks to run if u have max'd health (which means no stamina curios)
You're preaching to the choir man, I like more HP
HP directly stops me from dying
Its good
but I also don't run any toughness anymore
I thought it was psychotic when Scum came out and everyone went "yeah run 3x stamina curios"
3x stam is trolling
I agree
toughness has value but I find it dubious
3x stam is a sleeper yall dk
because toughness is fundamentally a DR mechanic
what rly matters is can your toughness replenishment keep up with the rate at which your toughness goes down
and the answer is usually yes for all classes
also havoc completely neuters toughness +% value
most builds start at like 80~95 toughness which means +10% won't even get u 10 more toughness
Preaching the the choir man, I agree with you
with that said
It’s pretty effective on some builds
my conclusion for the 2nd part is actually stam regen & block cost
Wouldn’t do that for havoc tho
yea it's a sleeper
should keep sleeping
Idk about block cost in this game
it doesn't look very good yes
but
in competition vs corruption, revive speed, bomber
I think it wins out among these
given a health stack curio setup
and my argument for block cost is same as VT2
you get more equivalent stam for blocking from less regen time
2x stam regen + 2x block cost gets u smth like 160.1% equivalent block stamina per 1s regenerating stamina
What do you spend the other two points on
I assume health?
Cause 3x gunner dr is jusy
Normal
3x health +21%
3x health +5%
2x gunner x80%
2x stam regen +12%
2x block cost x88% (or 2x docket +10% outside havoc)
how do i do the tech? i didnt see it mentioned in the guide, but i couldve missed
- i felt like charge, a couple normal swings then a push made me much more survivable
mk6, special then block
better than most
wowie
oki
ty
step back for time to charge is key
i was sort of doing that before with heavy attacks, stepping back while i charged
so i guess its the same
I'll give it a try soon, probably on scum first, thank you
think i was also wasting my time with charged heavy power sword attacks, they seem kinda shit
its good not as much dps as PS but better mobility and utility
im a sucker for mobility so I'll try it
no
lie
it's 8~10+ buffs away from being good
what
Out of curiosity, which Talent would you suggest sacrificing in order to get Grenade Tinkerer? Only complaint with the build so far is that it feels a little rough not being able to kill Crushers with the kraks
its good just takes finesse but can always be better
power falch damage against flak makes me sob
I love that thing but
any mixed crowd kills my fun on it
its good against flak i thought
Its not
I wouldn't really know since I usually just use a power sword to kill them
I don't know super exact numbers but
when charged its like
somewhere above chainsword
I see, I'll just play around with it then
u rly wanna call this good?
Have you used it? Its good just build it numbers arent everything, its also good for dodges and motility its just faster power sword
Obv weaker bc then it would be broken
yea I've used it
it's not good
no good mixed horde stagger
dogshit unpowered atk ADM
long heavy smiter windup
Idk ig u just had a bad sword
So true
This is why the collective playerbase forgot about its existence
it's not "just faster power sword"
it's the same mobility preset as most other melee weapons
It's wimpier relic sword
idek if it beats combat knife
this is so comical
Unrelated question why compare it to a different weapon on a different class?
I don't believe much of anything does
Because they are both melee weapons
Still faster than power sword
that thing is speed and bleed
I love it
yea, less than half of its dps
worse sprint profile too
lol
But in regards to vet you cant use relic blade unless there was a new talent just added 🤔
This can't be real
vet relic blade 🐡
vet relic blade is power sword slash half Jay
falchion
1/s sprint
+0.09m/s sprint bonus
power sword VI
0.75/s sprint
+0.27m/s sprint bonus
I mean i have seen more power sword users get caught by a trapper bc they have no dodges than anyone else
Besides ogryn
But they are big they cant help it
by this logic every low dodge weapon should get caught by trapper more
They do?
which means arb should be getting caught by trapper more than everyone else

which is, obviously not the case
Arb gets a talent thats gives them an extra dodge 😭
and has lower dodge distance than everyone else
Dodge is more about timing than anything else
Unless they are equipped with the tacaxe, their dodge is like
what the hell is Thomas the trian doing in this gif
Almost power sword tier
if u thought 1 extra dodge was the difference maker to match >2x the dps
good for u
in another lifetime it might
lol no
There is no definitive answer
almost relic sword tier
still feels better than being literally unable to dodge on Ogryn
almost uhhhh
they're nowhere as bad as people like to paint them as
almost fgs tier
does mobility affect this btw
Yes im pretty sure
the stat I mean
yeah
yea, this is with optimal stats
cus I've been running a 60% heat relic blade ever since it came out
and I recently swapped it out
falchion also rolls 60% mob
just not a fan of delay between dodges + zero dodge linger
I feel like we can move past that design. Game has evolved, it's time big man evolves too.
after which they promptly devolved him and evolved the game yet again

He is like a burgle
i agree actually, ogryn should have no dodge button
I was talking abt these "low dodge" weapons actually having way better dodge than people think
i never had problems dodging with fgs in my experience
fgs has less dodge distance than power sword too
yeah
u can't double standard this
isn't it the worst even
among small people
i do remember actually having problems dodging bursters with the shield maul if i didn't double dodge but i didn't use it much
2m base
-12% distance
1.76m dodge
power output dump
however shield weapons use a diff push profile from normal
they have a broader, stronger push right?
yea
you can definitely feel it on the slab shield
you should also factor in the fact that it has a power meter and doesnt rely on powercycler
which actually makes it worse
I just tried it and the mobility is clearly apparent the damage loss seems worth it on a class that doesnt specialize in melee
because u can't do all of ur attacks energized
what?
yea?
sorry "vet is the ranged class" era was 2 years ago
power sword, despite its jank, u can actually make all ur attacks energized
falchio's heat gauge means there will always be downtime where ur attacks aren't
yeah but that's a concern if youre in melee that often
in which case its atk profiles are horrendously bad
and building for melee specifically
yea u should
yea u also should
if u wanted a melee self-defense weapon for a sniper build
I mean idk what kinda builds you running bro but clearly both weapons shine in seperate areas with one not really being better than the other
falchion gets mogged by tac axe
which has way better dodge, mixed horde, block cost & mobility
and costs less talents to be effective
if u wanted a workhorse melee weapon for dps
falchion gets mogged by power sword / combat axe
the direct competitor to falchion is actually combat axe
same exact mobility profile
combat axe does better horde clear, has reliable mixed horde stagger, can stagger crusher overhead with its single target dps moveset
while having no downtime
there's no area where falchion shines brightest
Its still really good you are just a uber hater i mean like yeah you have your reasons but tbh its needing a blessing to make a weapon good is still cringe
But its all about preferences
yea having 1 blessing choice is cringe
unfortunately that 1 choice is between sunder and BM
Ok
on vet?
You aren't open to any kind of like conversation so like why are we still talking
all classes (besides martyr zealot, and maybe staff psyker)
I am open to conversation, u just haven't disproved anything I said yet
You haven't decided to listen to anything i have said
I did
and the reality is that, falchion is not that good as ranged sidearm either
because tac axe does that job significantly better
so it's not so hot in either camp (ranged sidearm / melee workhorse)
FS went ultra conservative with falchions' atk templates
they basically designed the thing around post-1.9 vet (where vet got ~70% more dmg)
but every other weapon vet has was made before then
the equivalent of falchion for zealot is relic blade (similar heat gauge mechanic), which was also made for a time when zealot had less dmg
and in 1.9, zealot tree overhaul gave them more dmg (more accessible too)
Falch has aura tho
i think you should actually use the combat blade and use punch only
it's very aura
17 morbillion punch man
class that doesn't specialize in melee
has insanely good melee buffs
most effective playstyle by a mile is melee+ranged frontline hybrid
Thank you
Most of this chat will agree Falch is the "potential weapon" of vet. It honestly isn't great. It's cool looking. I like using it. But Fatshark played it way too safe.
what are these "insanely good melee buffs" that you can get in tandem without sacrificing crazy from ranged
And the issue with it being a side arm for ranged is the activation tbh
Trench Fighter Drill, Precision strikes, skirmisher, agile engagement, weapon specialist
When I need to pull out a melee to protect my self, I need that thing to be available immediately. Not go through an animation to actually use it when I'm getting overwhelmed.
Also Exploit weakness
it blocks for you when you activate anyways
- the generic others of course
On a class that isn't very good at stamina retention
That's not a good selling point lol
Nah
Even if u swapped to it already activated
It’s still far worse than tac axe
Whaddya need stamina for anyways, I'm not planning on running
if you cant live through a 500 millisecond power up that's just a positioning skill issue
onslaught 🔥
The only reason you would really be trying to pull out your melee at all if you're focusing heavy on ranged
Is for that exact purpose
It's not particularly good at that purpose.
it is not that difficult to be aware enough to anticipate a weapon activation
It's the fact that you have to do it, at all. And get a weapon that can barely stagger anything as a result.
which again is tying into @warm gulch's preference argument
I get that it is a preference. But why would we not want it to be better, when it is clearly an underperformer when it really shouldn't be in ways?
doesn't really underperform aside from damage numbers, it's just quicker and has different mechanics
Actually
It's damage it doesn't underperform in. At least while charged.
It actually does pretty decent damage while powered
I'm not saying it's better than psword or something im just saying it's two diff playstyles
I mean literally nothing is really better than psword to be real
Because it's just
psword is likely better generally, but if youre a diff kinda player pfalch is prolly better
Overtuned
like I personally despise using psword cause it's too damn slow and I get left for dead (no pun intended) in pubs
Probably the best generalist in the entire game?
taxe gives mobility and I love it
It kinda does
It's not terrible on that regard from my experience. But then again it's not really hard to force this class to do gigatons of melee damage
that's what im sayin!
But my real issue
Is that they made the relic blade
Made this weapon the equivalent of the relic blade for vet
And then proceeded to take nothing they learned from relic blade to apply it to this weapon
It's horrible unpowered
And the stagger is pitiful for a heavy curved sword that's also electrically charged
Its just confusing.
Check the stab (activated) for power sword, H smiter for combat axe, then check H smiter (activated) for falchion
You’ll know what I’m talking about
I mean regardless
I like trying different things
I really wanted to like the falchion more
I like falchion 2b moveset a lot but it’s just not good enough
And I still do
Funny that my 2 fav movesets are both on weapons that aren’t good
I do really hope FS takes a better look at it.
Cuz for all the crazy shit they've put into this game
It's really weird they played it so safe here.
it's oddly appropriate that the better falch
is the one where heavies are pointless
and it's unironically a good choice to just light spam everything
I like 2b more than mk1 ngl
Yeah...
Oh no purple is back in havoc
Which mk are you talking about?
power falch mk1
brb making it so only heavy attacks have cleave
the main issue with heavy attacks is how long they take/last
a lot of them leave you incredibly open to getting your shit kicked in
Yeah PF heavies are kind of meh. Better to light spam most of the time.
PF heavies are SUPER slow
Whats the second one outside falchion?
DC7
Genuinely the coolest single target moveset
Unfortunately not good weapon
Push att - light - heavy right?
Still is
Its the parries man

SP block
SP riposte
Stab
L3 overhead
L1
H2 overhead
L3 overhead
PA (stab)
L3 overhead
DS is "comfy," but it only feels like it's doing a lot because the light attacks are fast
they don't actually clear hordes that well
Parry oneshotting red ragers on headshot in H40
Hopefully, Falchions get a nice buff this year, too
Soon
Maybe.
It could use like 10
It's like
so close to being a solid horde clear weapon with some finesse for ragers that get in your face
so damn close
but it's just a little too slow
has just a little too much recovery
They made it for post-1.9 vet while every other weapon vet has was made for pre-1.9
does just too little damage
And vet got ~70% more damage in 1.9
Falchion can rly use a lot
The damage isn’t good enough across almost all of its attacks
The stagger isn’t remotely close to being good
The unpowered attacks are ass
Heavy attacks have too long windup
It’s not actually fast as a ranged sidearm, and doesn’t have the dps uptime to be a true melee workhorse
The other funny thing about the Falchion is that it comes with a bunch of parry/perfect block blessings
Yea they’re all irrelevant
The only block blessing that was ever relevant was lightning reflexes
Which I think is still a valid pick for arb shield + maul but that’s about it
But not a top tier pick by any means
It's competing with High Voltage and Opportunist, too, on the Arb shield + maul
Still, at least it's not like the Devil Claws, which have like 5 different Impact-related blessings
It's probably because it was supposed to be Vet and Zealot's defensive melee option
way back in beta, when the game was slower and had fewer enemies
Shield & maul? I don’t think they were ever meant for vet or zealot
Oh
Sorry, I thought you meant the DC blessings
(A crusader sword + shield would go hard on zealot, though)
I want them to make chain weapons good first
There’s 1 singular chain weapon where activated attack’s damage is worth the risk
And only if crit
That’s just yikes
But then again a lot of weapons can use buffs
The last updates were more let's adjust talents and tweak some movesets than a big rebalance patch.
I don't think we'll ever see another big pass on weapons
Inb4 its been soo long since last weapon rebalance its honna happen
hopium

which is that?
curious
evis priestly
Actual fire writing btw
oh ok I thought it was gonna be chainaxe or sum
Yeah about that…
Mk12 chainaxe with thrust (and even mk4) achieve stagger for crushers too
No need for crit
Was before they stealth nerfed them to not being able to stun a crusher on light rev
Now you have to either crit or use thrust
Which is sad; imagine nerfing a weapon already being underused & underaprecieated & outclassed

power falchion or power sword?
power sword is vastly superior
by like a margin so wide it is the intergalactic divide
Sword is more effective
aight
any mark recommendation
Mk vi is typically recommended
You can block cancel the charge up animation
Plus the push attack is good against single targets
Hi! I'm new to Darktide and have chosen to go with Veteran. Any recommendations on sites to help me play my class best/better?
Idk what I'm doing but I love this game so far lol 😅
Take your time and learn the basics. Don't feel the need to rush to the hardest difficulty you've unlocked
Basics like learning sound cues on when to dodge / block. When someone is about to hit you or shoot you, you'll hear a "whoosh" sound effect. That's your cue to dodge /block
I would go mk6 with unyielding cara + power cycler 4 and sunder
Thank you! I'm a little overwhelmed as I want to play well
there's some good videos on youtube
It's all good, the important part is to take your time, have fun, and don't be afraid to experiment and try things out
👏🏽
Thank you!!
that set of videos is till good too https://youtu.be/5Geyiteg1U0?si=K0O9w9WqHuYuwIrd

Guide on pinned messages
Got it. Thx!
then why even consider power falchion?
if you want to try something that is not meta at all
I have the shovel for that
or I could use the devil's claw
huh
Falchion is for the people that wants to look cool
thought that was the devil's claw
Or for the people that doesn't want to power the sword up every 3 hits
Imma be 💯 with you
Ain't no one looking cool with a dclaw
rlly?
I think it looks coolm, oversized machete
Yeah that's the problem
It's oversized
Too thin
It's coarse rough irritating
And gets everywhere
But yeah falchion
.
Except that falchion is worthless unpowered
And if you overheat you have ~13 seconds of being worthless
And if you don't want to overheat
You have to turn it off
Which makes it worthless
Fatshark did it again
last time I checked swords are thin compared to their size
depends on the sword
yeah
going with dclaw
is there a setting or a mod that enables extra bonding conversations/one that stops them from being cut off by combat voicelines? i've noticed they are almost impossible to come across on higher difficulties due to all the fighting
What difficulty are you on
They get cut off more in higher diffs cause of all the hordes
There's no like
i usually play auric, auric maelstorms, or havoc 20+
you would have more conversations if everyone played smyker tho
There's bonding conversations? 👀 I'm so new to this game this is all valuable treasure info lol
Oh yeah, Fatshark puts an unreasonable amount of effort into conversations
Specially now that instead of it being 5 characters talking, it's like 34 personalities
You'll still get some repetition because people have a bit of a preference, like female fanatic and male judge on zealot
Vetrans rule 🔥
Its very reasonable tbh
Its one of the better parts of the game
Maybe it was v-trans
I need some help with build stuff
is the vraks infantry autogun still viable
its been a bit sicne I played veteran so my friend gave me this build
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9b87b5fd-c1aa-4605-9515-e5f762e17a52/stormtrooper-veteran-krak-grenade-voice-of-command-weapon-specialist
it feels alright but gun still kicks like a horse which is fine but the reload speed is slow
I can check one sec
thx
the reload speed is honestly the one thing that ruins my vibe cause i wanna play a straight special/elite killer class but im not vibing with the hellbore cause of the charge up
the auto guns are also just nice against bosses from when i did play
okay umm
well first if you wanna have a better reload speed you can totally swap exhilarating takedown for the node on the left
gives u reload speed when you get an elite kill
you should also take reciprocity
free crit by dodging is nuts
exploit weakness would work really well with that too
cus it's just 20% more melee damage with easy uptime
iiiii can try sorry I'm on mobile
oh word
What the fuck is this shit
7/10 imo. Some weird talent choices that probably fits their creators playstyle more (shooting crushers)
Weapon and curio seem fine, most talents are good
they want me to shoot crushers?
@thorn lark so i dont have to use a meta plasma gun? 😛
It's what the talent tree is telling me
But it's not a worthwhile thing to do
Wastes alot of ammo
The onslaught talent on the bottom right
It's mainly associated with shooting Crushers
oh ok
Krak with tinkerer is also only relevant for high havoc crusher one shots
2 extra points
wuz da
You can get the reload speed at the top, extra grenade talent, a subnode on the keystone x the extra ammo
It's a good baseline vet build
Could even skip tinkerer if not playing havoc
Yeah, considered it
it's scary
play the game on auric before dipping into it
especially if ur returning
true !
Just take your time and learn each talent
yeah your gameplay is going to shape to the difficulty you play in
meaning your talents will match where you are at
you can get away with silly stuff but if u bump up into auric and above you will start wanting to minmax
that's when u usually learn the most imo
i do enjoy play on auric
mainly when its just me anyways
if me and a friend we can bum around on damnation
imma go get on later and try work shopping some stuff
is there any advantage to using any melee weapon other than the duelling sword as a veteran? it just seems like every other option is strictly inferior
imma try to screenshot this but idk how yall did it so its gonna be wonkey
I've maxxed the shovel and combat axe so far
chainsword fucls
i like it a lot
Dueling sword sucks ass at horde clear
And vet really wants good horde clear on his melees
Bruh
not like its unreadable
hmm. could be that I'm only up to damnation rn
but so far the duelling sword has been good enough for chopping through the crap
I guess it has its limits then
Better horde clear
That being said
You're a vet
here one sec lemme put it the webite
Just throw grenades
throw grenade at horde
suddenly 3 crushers and 15 maulers
Multiple Ragers stagger
😭
What weapons are you even using
yea power sword
ok I guess better question: what are good melee + gun combos that make different melee weapons work
and this?
I actually rly like chainaxe XII + boltgun III
it's usable, not great
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/a126b538-d288-4bc0-a76b-05ef69e3e7bb/test-111this should be just the skill tree
what makes it poor? when i combine it with vraks autogun it seems decent, vraks for special sniping etc and chainsword is easy cc horde spam
carapace & unyielding dps both not good
and mixed horde stagger also meh
so ill have to force myself to level power sword
is the vraks inf autogun also trash then
i mean nothing is trash, i feel like some things are just a lot better
Bonesaw
it's top tier
good, cuz i dont want to run meta plasma gun build
ill just have to level my power sword then
getting back into the game atm
it's about as meta lolol
its more fun
plasma gun or even recvon lasgun is so fucking boring
recon is super boring yea
it also feels like a fake gun
I was interested in the plasma gun but I'm so new that I haven't even used one yet lol
idk its so weird to shoot
There's a good amount of ranged options but it'll depend on how much investment you will give them
Melee wise you have
Power sword 6 (melee investment build)
Rashad Axe (melee investment build)
Tactical Axe (ranged investment build)
wdym with ranged investment
helbore sniper build
you dont have as many points to invest into your melee and tactical axe still performs well without much investment on top of having pretty good mobility
but with proper investment the other two beat it by a long shot
it's not saving you against a wave of ragers tho
it is tho
what do you pair the rashad axe with?
maybe unarmored ragers but not dreg ragers
The low cleave does mean that you will have to deal with 1 rager at a time
the stagger on the special seems to get ignored by them at some point
dreg ragers are the unarmored ragers
and the damage isnt crazy if youre investing into ranged
sorry I meant the other ones
forgor their name
Scab Rager
ya
a few of those will make it a hard day if youre alone
assuming you dont have shout
if you dont have melee investment you're not handling scab rager mix in with a horde alone bro
they literally just ignore it based on some attacks
and im talking like quite a few ragers here as common in difficult modifiers
not just a handful that you can weave about
tac axe not handling that
wdym ignore
ignore dodge? they don't have that
Actually I just lied
If you have 5 stacks of Headtaker
ignore stagger on the special
You have 3.75 cleave
not the dodge
u don't have to use the special on ragers?
Meaning that at some point he'll have 3.6 or 3 mass
Meaning that your 3.75 can go through them
And hit a second rager
Headtaker Tactical Axe propaganda

still not saving you against 15 ragers and chaff
dunno what kinda game yall playin but taxe is not godlyt
Eh it's good
The cap on heavies put at shit tier for me though
No your point has nothing to do with the cap on heavies

That's mine and solely mine
But I don't know what to tell you when you can easily dance around a horde + ragers with the tactical Axe
slot manipulation means u never actually have to fight 15 ragers all at once
your player character physically do not have that many slots for enemies to occupy
Oh yeah
Tactical Axe is shit because cap on heavies
And push attack because same profile

You know, gotta keep the principle
I mean they're all fake guns, but it's an energy-based FAMAS
Bullpup design
which tac axe mark is good
also what's the difference with braced and infantry autogun
Braced sucks ass
kek alright haha
They’re just very sad rn
i remember them being really good once
Vraks IAG is one of the strongest guns in the game
And the other two are decent as well
would you use it with like weapons specialist keystone focus?
or marksman
and for melee weapons choice with that? sorry i am trying to figure out how to have a useable build again
Works keystoneless even.
and not waste my diamantine
Power sword, Rashad, Tac axe are vets strongest melees
which is the most fun out of those 😄
nah sorry wont take too much of ur time, ill give em a spin in psykanium
power sword seems nice
kinda like relic blade in that sense?
hit special and then block to cancel the animation and charge faster
No it doesn’t get a heat mechanic
i meant more like, poop damage unchargerd
basically you can't play psword without Power Cycler blessing
Way worse lol
Relic blade is usable against trash when uncharged
can uncharged psword 1shot pox walker?
PSword is not unless it’s just like one groaner
Maybe with all the buffs on the bottom right

also what is a 'rachad'?
Rashad Combat Axe
It’s a combat axe mark
oh the other type
there's three, Achlys, Antax, Rashad
If you want something simple but strong, Rashad is a good option
But requires your build to have melee investment
So it’s not good in ranged builds
i would like a nice hybrid build where i can focus also on elites and specialists but hold my own in a melee.. preferably with the vraks cuz tha'ts something i at least have at full mastery
these 3 melee weapons ill need to put some time in to get to 500
so then it sounds like power sword or tactical axe?
Tactical axe mk VII then
Or yeah psword
You can just make a melee build and slap a revolver or plasma gun on it
Psword isn’t easy to use despite being insanely strong
the point was that i didnt want to use something like plasma gun haha
that's a good thing i think 🙂
thx for the advice all
It’s very rewarding to master it
And it’s actually a very good melee to teach melee mechanics
It’s an interesting weapon
i use duelist sword with double barrel op combo and the most fun one i tried
This sounds fun
I should try this

build is in pinned steam link just use duelist with uncanny/riposte unyield/carapace mk4
I might be blind I don’t see it in pins
nvm i had posted the build here
#veteran-class message #veteran-class message
Bet thanks
how you play is simple get melee kill fire the shotgun loop you never have to reload
Something like Rashad is a way better option for that tbh
I’m gonna run this in 30-40 havoc this should shred
DS is incredibly overrated on vet
I have mixed results with the combat axe
Sometimes it murders the heretics other times it’s like a box cutter
It’s very consistent if can reach scab bruiser one tap
Like so
Even in h30and 40? That’s what im prepping for
Daaang
I should also mention my melee technique kinda sucks lmao
Yeah you need to go right side for melee damage but that’s it
that build i gave you is for havoc 40 as well shotgun pierces everything other than carapace
And you’d be going right side if you do WS DB anyway

Rashad is one of the easiest weapons in the game
I will trust the process brothers

and since it also has 100% crit you can snipe snipers np

This brings me joy
Cuz I hate two things heretics and snipers
And snipers and heretics
Siiiiick
combat blade user, respect.
what is PA in terms of melee attack? i didnt understand from the guide
Push attack
what is that? differing from pushing?
hold block then attack
this is a different attack that is often stronger in some regard
because it costs 1 stam to use
oh, on the power sword it pushes then does a small stab? if im doing it right
oki ty
I feel like the revolver is a bit too ammo hungry in my exec ws build, any recommendation for an alternative?
Boltgun.
Boltgun go BOOM

You're not drawing it fast enough 🙃
<@&735928989146939404> mandated edict: mauling
Bistol if you don’t mind crunching on crits lol
It's a pretty good one
Combat shotguns are a bit weak in meta terms but might be what you're looking for here. With Exe stance bolter might be somewhat viable. Plasma Exe stance isn't super common but it would let you wallhack specialists all day.
Hellbore or recon lasgun maybe? They can be pretty ammo efficient if you get shock trooper (albeit that is quite a few points of investment)
shout plasma has breakpoint problems in h40 which (i think) exe stance should solve
the gunner 1shs is kinda unreliable without all buffs up, so the extra 25% ranged strength should really help
i keep trying combat shotty but the reload speed just sucks and makes it not really fun to use
even with reload perks
its damage output also just seems really inconsistent
if you're constantly topping off, it's not bad
also the damage is heavily dependant on crit/headshots
but if you can land those shots.... oh boy
@keen gyro
hi
B…but… that implies they are the bad guys…
Are we… the bad guys… guys?
Naw mate darth maul is cool
Woe, 12 crushers
Counter-woe: krak grenades
Can you kill 3+ crushers per grenade?
No but I can kill most of them, voice of command stun, and then cheese the fuck out of the chainsword special attack
(Chainsword with +25% carapace armor damage my beloved)
We're not talking about chainsword
The person I replied to
Why is cadia still a planet there?
Krak-squad is real.
But i still cannot understand, smoke grenades make enemy blind or no? Sometimes it worked.
Melee units can still swing their weapons and hit you
Ranged units won't know where you are
But they will still shoot
